Dont ever count on one play to break the Red Wings mentally. This is a team that lost the lead in the last 30 seconds in front of the home crowd and then lost the Stanley Cup in triple overtime in front of it's home crowd, and then turned around and won the next game. A shorthanded goal is nothing.

Even though the amount of rest and games the Penguins and Red Wings teams played were similiar, the games the Red Wings did play were much more physically taxing, and many Red Wings got hurt as a result. Even with that, the Wings are still playing pretty well, all things considered. lets look at it this way. The Red Wings best players are Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom. They were for a time both out with injuries, and the Red Wings still found ways to win. What would happen if Malkin and Crosby were injured?

Really, the penguins had the exact same schedule against a brutally physical Anaheim, and a slew of injuries in the Chicago series? i thought they played Physical lightweights in Washington and a shell of a team in Carolina.

Let say Malkin and Crosby get into a car accident in 2010 and wind up as brain dead vegatables, who do you think is going to be the better pair? You can't say who's the better player based on how they might perform, only how they have performed.

Detroit is the Paladin of Hockey. They play a primarily defensive style, where they figure if they shut down the other teams stars, eventually their own guys will score. I think you can look at it's track record of the last 18 or so years to see if it's worked.

At scoring goals, yes. Detroit puts more than just goals and points on it's number 1 and 2.

Gonchar is a decent player, but Lidstrom is, without a doubt, one of the best defenseman of all time. Like... the comparison between the two doesn't even exist. year in and year out, Lidstroms been dominant over everyone. Gonchar having a good series doesn't change that. Crosby plays better offense than Zetterberg, I'll admit, but Zetterbergs defense is above and beyond what Crosby can do.

You really don't think Zetterberg and Lidstrom match up to Gonchar and Staal in terms of talent?

I'm sorry, but you can't chalk that up to luck. It was a through and through hockey play. being in the right spot at the right time isn't luck, it's being a professional hockey player.

Uhh.... you don't "rebuild" after making it to the Stanley Cup finals. This is the exact same team that won it this year, and will be the exact same team for the most part next year. Also, the only reason Pittsburgh even has that youth is because they sucked for most of last decade and this decade, and almost got moved to Kansas. Now, do you really see the Wings ever considering moving to Kansas? gtfo.

Isn't the wings average age 29? Not exactly pushing walkers there... Wings just had a much rougher physical grind to get where they are then the Pens. Wing's will work it out.
