You'd have to be some kind of major ******* idiot to take Hossa over Franzen. Hossa is a great player, but Franzen owns and is clutch. Hossa is a magician. He has a way of doing this splendid disappearing act, but it's not amusing.
-
Pretty much all of it. It's hard to believe that Hossa didn't include a NTC in his contract. He said he wants to be on a team long term, a NTC buys him that reinsurance.
-
But does he outweigh what they are going to lose? Call me skeptical, but I'm not convinced that Chicago made a significant upgrade this offseason. In fact, they probably took a step back by losing their #1 goalie.
-
^ I disagree. And how do we know Hossa's contact doesn't have a No Trade Clause? just curious
-
Getzlaf seems to score against us.. maybe we should get him instead.
-
It appears that Chicago didn't upgrade, they just played musical chairs and got older. Havlet put up more points than Hossa Pahlson > Kopecky (haha! - great move Chi-town) Madden? Isn't he like 40? Now their gonna lose role players like Versteeg... and their future is in jeopardy Not a good day if you're a Chicago fan.
-
I'm pretty sure Lidstrom signs for a lot less than 5million. More like 2.75 - 3 mil.
-
Red Wings shall stay the course. Pretty simple, really.
-
Unless Chicago knows something we don't know about a major CAP increase within the next year or two, then this Hossa signing is ruining Chicago's future. To be honest, Chicago's off season moves hurt them more than it made them better.
-
Lol. Gainy must hate his team or has a vengeance against the owner.
-
My guess is Hudler will get 2.9 - 3.6 million. And it won't be with the Wings.
-
After what Hossa went through in the finals in 08' with the Pens, you're posters think Hossa's an underachiever? He was Penguins best player! Malkin was the true definition of "underachiever"... oh how quickly we forget, huh? Hossa has more character than Crosby and Malkin combined! I respect him and wish him the best. No hard feelings, after all, he did come to the better team to have his best chance. Nobody could predict the injuries would pile up against Detroit. It happens.
-
Again, after we sign our GR guys, where is this money coming from? Wait for the frenzy to calm down and sign a cheap "lesser known" guy for under 800,000 and we should be fine. EDIT: or wait and trade one of our defensman (Lebda or Lilja).
-
We're not a better team than last year, but we'll still finish in the top 3 in the west and I think we have enough tools, talent and depth to make the finals if they stay healthy. Wings are in great shape and will be the "team to beat" for many years to come.
-
Logic. That would be a good start. The Wings CAN NOT be big players without money play with. It's that simple, really. Kenny already said the Wings won't be big players in the market and intend on using the young guys in our system. Today was no surprise for most of us here....
-
Hawks fans also think their GM can land Havlet and Heatly to have a 3H line in Heatly-Havlet-Hossa
-
I honestly didn't expect Hossa to accept Hollands 10yr/40million offer (4 mil per year) but I had a sense of hope. With that said, it was a pleasure having him. Maybe he'll demand a trade in the next few years for his chance to win a cup and Holland can land him.
-
You spelled Abdelkader right. I think he's going to get another year in Grand Rapids tho... but I do agree, our additions do make up for most of our losses. We just have a couple of tiny holes to fill and that's it.
-
Perhaps the other 459 current online members and viewers should make a new thread about their 2010 predictions. That'd sure make this forum interesting.
-
Kopecky actually makes your team worse in depth (than you already had), and Hossa's not an upgrade over Havlet in the playoffs. Plus you guys just let go whatever little hope you had when letting Bulin' get away. Jm2c
-
Hossa is a damn good player, but he just cost the Hawks their core future. And Kopecky is an absolute waste of roster space for his price. He is grossly overpaid for what he brings to the table.
-
The thread title should be renamed to the "OFFICIAL NEGATIVITY [sKY IS FALLING]" thread.
-
Hawks blew away whatever chance they had when they kept Huet instead of the Bulin'. Hawks has a one year window to win the cup before having a salary cap meltdown. Hopefully next year this time we'll be thanking you for giving us Duncan Keith since there is no way Chi-Town can afford him.

LGW's have 200 members logged in on average... I am glad that all 200 members don't make stupid threads after playing NHL 09. It would make this forum miserable. It's miserable enough when ****** bags make threads like this.

No word on Hudler yet.
