Seems a lot of folks here don't "trust" our rookies yet. I think the rookies will excel and Wings don't don't need to go outside org to get big player names when we have such solid depth. I am glad Holland didn't resign Hossa and Koko. I hope Hudler and Sammy walk. I trust Leino and Helm will be HUGE next year and I think Flip will be downright unstoppable. He's due for a breakout and I think the 2nd line ice time is just what the doctor ordered. Wings are in great shape. They just need to fill a couple of small holes and I doubt Holland will do it anytime soon. Plus Holland said he's trading one defenseman.

Wow, not sure.. but that seems a bit pricey. Though Columbus did just get better.
-
You must be one of them "big name" bandwagon posters on here -- if they don't have a big name, they are s***, right? C'mon dude, pull your head out of your ass and get for real. Wings are in great shape. They just need to fill a couple of holes. No biggie.

What the f*** are you talking about? Everyone here knew that Hossa wasn't going to sign here; he was a one year rental. We all hoped that he was willing to accept Holland's 4 million over 10 year contract offer, but we knew it wasn't very probable. We lost NOTHING for Hossa coming here. We gave up nothing for his one season being here and it was GREAT having him! Hossa took his best chance to win the cup here, and it was his best chance. Penguins got lucky they played cream puff teams and were healthy, nobody could predict that the Wings would get injured and banged up... just to fall short by one goal and assist to win it all again. Detroit will be the best team in the NHL for the 12 for sure and probably longer (as we have the best duo players in the NHL in Zetterberg and Datsyuk - and a very promising prospects). Penguins will be lucky to make the ECF again in the next 20 years. Hossa knew this, which is why he decided to come to the championship team. Tough break Wings suffered from the hangover and a colossal of injuries. It happens. We won without Hossa, we'll win many-many more without him. Respect to Hossa. He's a great player and I'll be looking forward to watching him next year!

Holy s***, Chicago just f***ed their future!. Maybe Holland will be in the running for Duncan Keith since Chi-town will never be able to afford him.
-
Wings are in great shape. They just need to fill a couple small holes, and we're in great shape at bringing the cup back home to Hockeytown. Holland is a genius. He's playing chess right now.
-
Like I said, we shall soon see....
-
We should be happy with this, Penguins should be pissed. Pengs are getting softer as their rivals are getting tougher.
-
I'm the minority here, but I don't want Hudler back. But we'll soon see if Holland and I are on the same page.
-
Personally, I don't think Abby will be on the Wings next year. I think he spends one more year in Grand Rapids.
-
Hawks just gave up their only chance to making the finals. They have no goaltending now.
-
Funny how strategically avoided the actual question. Very clever of you. Goes to show that you know absolutely s*** about hockey. Keep posting buddy, I am enjoying this.
-
Wait, so you think hockey is only about goal scoring? Whoa, I thought posters at Lets Go Wings had more intelligence than that. I was proven wrong! You should do a little more reading a little less posting.

The Good: We got HELM!! That kid was one of our best, if not the best, playoff performer. And he's only going to get better. I predict that Leino will be 2x better than Sammy. Flip will step up now that he will get 2nd line ice time. Holland only needs to fill a couple of small holes. Wings will not be big players this offseason.
-
Duncan Keith would be the ideal man on the Red Wings after this season.
-
Wings just got better with Koko gone! Chicago loses valuable roster space with him on their team.
-
Looks like Chicago Blackhawks wants to be the Red Wings ugly red-headed step brother who can't do anything right... I am glad Hossa and Kops is gone. Wings will be that much better in the long run. I was hoping that Holland wouldn't give Hossa a long term deal.
-
Thanks for your services Hossa. It was fun watching you! Wish you a strong career ahead of you, you are still one of my favorite players despite not staying in HockeyTown.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Snazzy replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
hum-bug. I'd rather get a 6th or 7th pick (preferably a 2nd or 3rd rounder) than nothing. Hossa's not signing, he's as good as gone and we get nothing in return, which really blows. -

It'd been nice to get at the very least a 3rd round pick, hell even a 6th would have been at least something. This blows! -
Meech isn't going anywhere. He's our 13th forward and our 7th D-man. A great body to fill in at any spot for his salary. He holds more value to the team than some of you think. Lilja will probably be the one out.

Holy christ, you're right... I didn't realize he was that old. I retract my last comment when I said 2 million-ish was about right. I think Shanahan (who puts up more points) can be had for around $800,000. You'd think Guerin would give a home-team discount; not bend them over and shaft them in the rear... but heck, if their GM is that stupid... then go for it. Lol.

We have to give up too much to keep Mr. Hossa. Who would go? I say Flip is untouchable and I think he's the one that we'd have to sacrifice. -
2 million is about right for Guerin; not a spectacular deal... maybe 250,000 too much or so... but he fits into their system and fits well with Cindy. Guerin would be our Samuelsson... and Sammy only makes about 1.3 million on the Red Wings and plays on our 3rd line.
