What is a "cud"?
-
If he was suspended game 3, there wouldn't have been a game 6 or 7. The cheating bastard had a point for every goal in gm3, remember? I don't care about that.. I'm just saying that Wings not only endured major injuries, but also faced adversity in every aspect of the game and still game up 1mm short of forcing OT in game 7.... If anythings, Penguins should feel like s*** for allowing the series to go game 7 considering all the set backs Detroit was faced with... I love this team more than anybody. Win or lose, I'm a fan for life. Always have been, always will be. Too bad there's posers on this boards pretending to be true loyal fans.

Poor loser? I said it before the playoffs even started that I didn't expect the Wings to pull off the cup back-2-back. I didn't expect the Wings to beat the Ducks and we did. If anything, I am a happy loser, because we made if much-much further than I predicted (due to Stanley cup hangover and drive), the Wings proved ME wrong! And I am grateful for being wrong. I'm so ******* proud of this team that I can hardly wait for the 2010 playoffs to start, let alone the regular season... Sure, nobody will know what the Red Wings endured, but I know what they endured. And they deserve all the respect in the world for it... from their fans. Not assholes who want to wallow in self pity because we lost, but because this team did the impossible. Hollywood couldn't even make up a fictional story from what the Wings have overcome. I call it Miracle. And I love this team! Dips*** just proved he's a bandwagon fan. Pathetic!

Again, bulls***. He doesn't recognize the fact that NO NHL team in the would could pull of what Detroit Red Wings accomplished--from injuries--a full line of AHL players playing their first SCF--to more injuries. A normal human wouldn't even be able to get out of bed with some of these injuries, yet this ******* is expecting the Red Wings to pull off two of the hardest games in the series?, esp when Penguins can play with too many men, or not get suspended when the rules state SUSPENSION! I bet this dips*** couldn't even jerk off with the wrist Zetterberg was playing through, let alone expect Z to carry the puck across the blue line to get a shot off. Go separate your shoulder, herniate some disks in your back, and see how hard it is to get a quality shot off that can beat any goalie... Show some respect. Be proud of your team, and show some ******* respect! God, I swear some ******* fans go full-retard! With the injuries Wings had, they should have been swept, not take it to Game 7 down to the dying seconds... Ungrateful!

Does it make the Penguin fans mad that team captains such as: Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman, and Joe Sakic are all-time beloved and respected NHL Captains ever to play the game. While Crosby is the biggest laughing stock, mocked and pussified face of NHL; nobody outside of Pittsburgh likes or respects him what-so-ever? I'd be pissed if we had a team captain that was clown that nobody respected or liked.
-
Bulls***. I'd like to see you go out there and play a highly fast and physical game after having your nuts ruptured or have your upper thigh lacerated to drain fluid out. Have you ever had a herniated disk? You talk big s***, but the fact is until you get your fat ass off your couch and walk to your mailbox, let alone, play NHL hockey with some of these injuries, show some damn respect. The Red Wings deserve all the credit in the world for playing through all the pain and agony, only to come up one goal short to potentially winning their 5th cup in 12 year. I am ******* proud of this team, you ungrateful piece of s***. And you call yourself a ******* fan? You're ******* Pathetic! Show some respect to this team! Piss off you poor loser! NO ******* TEAM IN THE WORLD COULD COMPETE THE WAY THE DETROIT RED WINGS DID WITH ALL THEY WENT THROUGH. Get the f*** off the boards, you ******* piece of s***! You are not worthy to call yourself a fan. Ungrateful!

Exactly. I think Fluery is grossly overrated. Ozzie on the other hand is underrated and I do think he'll be in the HOF. Not because he is a Patrick Roy caliber, but because he is a Osgood system caliber goalie and has the trophies and wins to prove it. He's had a consistent career for a goalie, and he's a goalie that comes up big when it matters the most, plus he's satisfied playing for a lower salary. It's hard to hate on Osgood unless your team is playing against him... Will Fluery ever match Osgood's success? It's a possibility, he's young and has a long career ahead of him. But right now, he's overpaid. Maybe by the time his contract is up, he might be closer in talent to his salary ratio.
-
Exactly, and had the Wings been at 60.999% healthy instead of 60% healthy, it may have been just enough to win since it was such a tight series. Not taking away from anything from the pens, but it's all relative to the Fluery debaters.
-
My god, I forgot how freakin bad ass Wings were back in the mid 90's. And still how bad ass they are in the millennium. I do miss that 1997 team... they would destroy anything in their path.
-
Or maybe there was a thread on LGWs started by a Pen fan proclaiming the next "dynasty since the Oilers"... mhmmmm? I don't hate or like Penguins, I'm indifferent towards them. The only team that I truly hate is the Ducks, and that's because they're easily the 2nd best team in the NHL behind Detroit, and because they beat the s*** out of us... which cost us the cup, again. Ducks have always pissed me off because they keep f-king up our victory! Penguins are just a chump team in the east. I think of the Penguins in the same category as I think of Tamba Bay Lightning; both teams have been lucky enough to win the cup. That's hockey.
-
Fixed. Fluery and the Penguins only saw 60% of what Red Wings are capable of. Not making excuses, it's just a fact. Fluery getting lucky against an injured team doesn't make him more savvy. I stand behind my stance, Fluery is over paid for what he is. Penguins "top" 3 players take up nearly half of their cap... I don't expect Penguins to go far in the playoffs. The east is beefing up, Penguins have to beef down due to money issues.

Initially you quoted me, I never quoted you. But some Pens fans (and on pens forum) were boasting that Penguins are the new dynasty of the NHL because they won their first cup in 17 years. I would think that elite players would be flocking to the 'new dynasty'. Maybe heatedly only wants to go to a contending team like Hossa?
-
but...but...but how dare any elite player not want to be traded to the 'new dynasty of hockey'? First Hossa, now Heatly? What a bum! I'm sure the Penguins will pick up their marbles and find a new kid on the block that wants to play with them. Rumor has it that Bertuzzi's available, but he may not want Pittsburgh either... he has standards, dammit! haha
-
Malkin looks like he is doing a lot in his game until he's matched up against a healthy Datsyuk, then he looks like an 8 million dollar deer caught in the headlights.
-
Which reinforces my point. Pens are spending (and imo overpaying) their 3 "top" players that takes up nearly half their cap. And lets be honest, their goalie is grossly overpaid, and he isn't really that good compared to lesser paid goalies in the league. If Pens have an injury, they're done. I really think Caps and Bruins will be the team to beat in the east. But, you know as they say... opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. we'll see i guess.
-
Another complaint that I read from Pens (on their boards) is Detroit always have players lining up to take discounts to be on a championship team for their best chance to win the cup. And current players sign way less than their market value to stay here. I remember reading a thread on Pens forum of fans crying that Franzen signed for so little and they think the NHL should stop Holland from doing this... that it's "cheating" and bad for the NHL. haha. I love it when they cry about the Red Wings. Professional players want to be on a winning team over money. I think that's great and you can't blame them for wanting to be on a sure winning team that is built by the best management in the NHL.
-
That's the truth, players are known to take discounts to come here. Roenick's just pissed that he didn't come to Detroit when he was useful enough to have on the roster for a cup win.
-
I'm not expecting Penguins to make the playoffs next year... and if they somehow do manage to pull it off, they'll have a very short lived first round. I expect to see the Caps becoming the dominating force in the east for the next decade. Bruins will be a close 2nd (depending how they manage things).
-
^ This proves my point. Pens fans think they are entitled to the "dynasty" and "Hockeytown" label because they won one cup in 17 years. Wings are on pace to take a cup every 3rd year (and if healthy, a cup every 2.4 years), while the Penguins are on pace to win the cup once every 17 years. However, if Wings weren't so injured and already plagued by the "Stanely Cup Hangover", Pens would be on pace to win the cup once every... 21 years. Dynasty? Hardly. Penguins are probably more mad at the facts than they are against the Red Wings... They're just jealous of the Red Wings. Can't really blame them since they are suppose to have the "worlds best players", who are average at best when faced against the Zetterberg's, Datsyuk's and Lidstrom's Red Wings....
-
Haha!!!! He snubbed the Penguins. Another Burn ... Love it! With that said, we could not afford his salary. Hope to see him go to the Bruins!
-
The '97 Wings were an absolute powerhouse. The way they all gelled together was incredible. Red Wings have the largest fan base around the league in the entire NHL, and I thank the 1997 team that sparked that amazing fan base. I get goose bumps just thinking about those playoffs.
-
Holland should hire him to be our defense coach.
-
I don't know if "mad" is the right word to define Pens fans... I'm leaning towards that they're jealous. I get this from reading their threads and comments on their boards. They want to be defined as the new "Hockeytown" and are trying to convince people they are the new "dynasty" in NHL. However, the statistics doesn't work in their favor when it comes to Detroit's continuous success and that pisses them off and enrages them with jealousy. They all expect Bettman to use his peter wand and grace them as the new "hockeytown". I read some of their boards when some posters (other team fans) pointed out that Penguins were more lucky to win the cup (due to Wings injuries and poor scheduling) and the Pens fans go NUTS! In some cases, mods and admin delete the thread because it gets so out of control over there. Penguin fans think they deserve full entitlement of "dynasty" label, despite the fact that Pens sucked for a long time and nearly went bankrupt due to no fan support. I think the some Penguin fans are realistic and know they will never be a 'dynasty' and their GM (Shero) isn't savvy enough to hold his team together in the cap world to maintain a competitive team down the stretch. I do think they get mad when people tell them that this is going to be their last cup for another 20+ years.... which holds truth to it due to the way Shero is running the team. I guess they are kind of mad because Detroit will be the best team in the NHL for at least 10-12 more years ( probably longer). They are mad that the Red Wings has been the dynasty team -- and earned it through blood-sweat-and tears -- for the last 15 years and will continue on for the next 10-12. Jm2c

All the old guys and some of the young ones. Bertuzzi is probably worth 2 mill if he's on a team with players that can compliment his style and a coach that can motivate him.
