That mlive author is on drugs if he thinks some of those players are going to get those kind of raises. Did he forget this is a cap world?

I don't foresee Holland making any moves this off season other than bringing up some griffins to fill holes. (depending on the Hossa situation). If Hossa doesn't resign, expect to see Sammy and Hudler and a AHL player on the roster next season.

This made my head spin...

^ This pretty much sums it up. No team in the world could pull off what the Wings did. They achieved more on one leg than any other team could in a lifetime.... And that's why I am calling them the best team in the NHL.
-
I doubt we'll see any big changes this year other than AHL players will be moved up.

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

Crosby who? Did he play in the SCF? I didn't notice anyone named Crosby on the ice. Oh, wait... is that the guy who fell and flopped like a fish every time a Red Wing player came near him? -

*If* Malkin was suspended like the rules clearly state.... *If* refs didn't call that weak call in game 3 against the Wings... *If* Pens got called for 25 seconds too many men... *If* Crosby got called for his diving... *If* Wings weren't so injured... You wouldn't have posted this thread. Pens barely won the cup against an injured Red Wings team... and Pens got a free pass on the Malkin suspension. Go enjoy your cup, it'll be the last time its sees Pittsburgh for a long, long time. -

Indeed. -
Yet Datsyuk still has the best +/- out of those players.

How quick these Pens fans forget that they were unjustly handed the cup. NHL gave the Penguins a free pass... I agree, the cup was handed to them just because NHL favored Penguins on (what should have been) a cut and dry suspension. Penguins didn't earn the cup. -
This thread pretty much sums it up. Look at everything stacked against Detroit this season and look how hard they battled through it all... Wings ended their playoff season with one goal and a bounce short. But think about this... Stanley Cup hangover - They battled through the entire season with targets on their backs - They were injured beyond belief, no team in the history of NHL could pull off what the Red Wings accomplished - Wings faced the hardest road to the finals - Bottom line, what Detroit have battled through could be made into an award winning movie called (not only) "Miracle", but "Amazing!". Red Wings may not have brought home the "physical" prize, but they did prove that they are the almighty championship team for many years to come. Red Wings legacy will live on by bringing the cup back home 3 more times in 6 years -- while the Penguins legacy will be "where are they now?".

He would say nothing because he would be too gutless to join a Red Wings forum... since he would have nothing to gloat about. This poster says Red Wings players are identical to their fans (which is a compliment, actually). But in retrospect, Penguin players are identical to their fans; gutless cowards. -

Please educate us then Mr."WingsChoke". Penguins didn't beat us, Wings injuries beat us. Penguins just very lucky. -

There is a thread about it sourced from mlive or freep (can't remember which). Season ending means season ending in the playoff season, not the regular season. Lilja might be out more than 1/3 of the year + more. -

Fixed. Pens are a 2 trick pony, they just got the luck to play the best of 7 against a completely injured Red Wings team. Injuries are part of the game and I am not taking anything away from the Penguins, but Detroit is the better team and, if healthy, would have finished the Pens off in 5 this year. Last year the Pens were a better team and next year they'll be even worse than this year... Capitals and Bruins will be the teams to beat in the East. Penguins probably won't make the playoffs next year, and if they do, they'll be ejected in round 1. Some key injuries: Lidstrom just got staples in his ruptured ball sack - season ending injury. Ralfi had ruptured disks in his back and had dislocated his shoulder - season ending injury. Datsyuk bruised bone and charley horses - season ending injury. Cleary had major pulled groins - another season ending injury. Holmstrom knee - would not have played if it wasn't the SCFs. Zetterberg wrist - wouldn't have played it if wasn't the SCFs Ericsson just had his appendix surgically removed - should probably have rested longer Lilja - Concussion Draper - pulled groin Kops - fractured face -
Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the world. That's just another day in the office for him.

I doubt Pens even make the playoffs next year. I expect the East to beef up... Capitals is more likely to become the next dynasty in the east than Pens because they have the best player in the world and better goaltending. -
I didn't get to watch this, but it sounds like it was a Penguins circle jerk fest. Get use to it I guess, 10 years from now they'll be blowing Crosby for his lonely 09 cup win.
-
I'm so glad Holland locked him up for life. I am so proud of this team. With that said, I think Osgood should be somewhere on that list. He was a beast in the playoffs.

We already knew (before the series started) that Crosby is the biggest piece of s*** in the NHL. Nothing he does surprises me anymore. It's sad this scum bag is the face of the NHL, but it is what it is. NHL will always be a laughing stock as long as Bettman keeps his butt plugs in Crosby. Until Bettman grows a pair and realizes that Alexander Ovechkin is the obvious and best choice for the face of the NHL, we're doomed.
-
The Washington Capitals will be the team to beat in the East. The ratings will go through the roof when the power house of the West (Red Wings) and the the power house of the East (Capitals) meet for a grueling battle. Not sure if Zetterberg can own Ovechkin like he does against Crosby. But it'll be a great battle!

Hossa loves it here in Hockeytown. Can't blame him for wanting to be part of the dynasty.
-
Some people would rather watch the best player in the world. http://www.nhl.com/players/8471214.html

Alexander Ovechkin > Cindy Crysby Capitals and Wings series would be ******* epic. The ratings would be surreal and it would push NHL to be a much more popular sport. I get goose bumps just thinking about it!
-
I hope Wings take on the Capitals in the SCF next year. That series would blow the ratings out of the water. Everyone would be more excited to see Alexander Ovechkin over Crosby any day. Man, that would be an exciting series!
