I could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure that Ducks were taking cheap shots against the Wings best players after game 6. Maybe it was game 5... I am too lazy to look it up right now. The scrimmage that Ducks displayed after the whistle was caused from the Wings getting under their skin. I do believe it affected the Ducks composure. Ducks are an impressive team and they never say die, I hate them, but respect them. Penguins don't have the flare and resiliency Ducks have. That cannot even be argued. I have never questioned Wings intensity so far in the post season. Ducks deserved to win the games that they won, except for GM#3 (due to Hossa's non-goal). I have questioned the Red Wings legs and health, but never their determination and intensity. (see game 6 one second before the horn, the great shot Dats had on Hiller to try to tie the game... but the better save Hiller had on Dats shot should also be noted. That's two teams with pure determination). Hossa was a pure beast in Game 4 against the Hawks, expect him to play like that against his former team.

Really? It's the opposite for me. Malkin and Fleury are a gift (if we play them) compared to the Hiller/Mason, Getzlaf/Perry and Nash players we faced. Dats will regain confidence playing against Malkin. Though Malkin is the pens top scorers, he is a liability when pressured like Dats will (or Zetterberg) will do. His defensive game is nearly non existent. Perry is better defensively than Malkin. Fleury on the other hand will be streaky. He'll make 2 highlight goals, then give up for softies. I think Flip, Huds and Sammy will have a lot of fun with him, as well as Hossa and Franzen. Zetterberg and Dats may not score a lot of goals, but they'll certainly limit Crosby and Malkin to very few SOG and quality chances. Detroit will need to be very disciplined and stay out of the box. Because like Chicago, Pens will make us pay. Lastly, though Detroit has the ability to make other team's goalies look good, the Red Wings have really gained a lot of killer instinct and determination to put away ugly goals when needed. Thanks to the Ducks and Hiller. Penguins have a lot of confidence right now, but Detroit Red Wings are scientists at taking that away and discouraging other team's hopes. (See game 6 against the Ducks and game 4 against Hawks), Wings have a nack for getting under peoples skins due to their relentless tenacity. The only thing that scares me is more injuries to the team. We do need Dats and Lidstrom back and healthy.

I have a feeling their reply will be: "Numbers and statistics are irrelevant. This is a new series and +/- and GAA means nothing!". Then they'll continue jumping around like Richard Simmons boasting about how good their "Crosby and Malkin are in '09 playoffs. They are the two bestest players in the whole wide world--because they have the bestest goals and points stats in the league--they are simply unstoppable, their numbers don't lie." Lol!

Dear Pens fans, Please riddle me this. How does your team intend on shutting down 3 and 1/2 strong scoring lines and 4 scoring defensemen? Detroit allows on average 2 goals against, while Pens allow 3 goals against. Detroit Scores on average 3.8 goals per game. Detroit has two minus players = -3 (and one of those minus players is Chelios). While Pittsburgh 8 players that = -20 combined. Not too mention Penguins + players have very unimpressive numbers. I'm genuinely interested in your thoughts on this.

The poster who wrote that was out of line. But as far as teh officiating goes, I do believe there is a conspiracy. I believe that refs call "make up calls", and that's a conspiracy too... but I do see this. I think NHL officiating has major flaws and they really do need to rethink a better system.

According to these Pens fans, last year doesn't matter. Current playoff defense stats mean nothing. Depth stats mean nothing. Goals Against and Goals For means nothing. The only thing that matters is the two top scorers and points producers is ALL THAT MATTERS. I guess we should be scared? Two kids who can score doesn't scare me at all. Perry and Getzlaf (best line in the league) didn't scare me. What does scare me is top notch tight defense and solid goaltending, that scares the hell out of me. Fortunately (if the Wings play Pens), they don't have either. They just have a couple guys who can score. But they won't produce much when they get shut down.

Short memory is short. Zetterberg and Datsyuk don't *need* to score lots of goals to shut down Malkin and Cindy. Red Wings have LOTS of players who are more than willing (and capable) of putting lots of pucks behind Fleury. Who's going to score for the Penguins? Sure... You have a couple scrubs who might get a lucky bounce. I'll give you that.

Last time I checked, they only won 3 games. That would mean Pens need 1 more win just like the Detroit Red Wings. So basically you think your team is cleared to make the finals while Detroit may not? It's just so funny how these Pens' fans are so against talking about their team defense, or lack thereof. Instead they are in denial that their One Line Wonder stands a chance in the SCF. Pens are a great Eastern Conference Team, but they would be an average Western Conference team at best. And their goalie is a complete joke. Pens fans, chant this in the finals: "TEAM DEFENSE" "TEAM DEFENSE" "TEAM DEFENSE" Because you'll need it. Your team won't stand a chance without it.

Pens fans are not too knowledgeable about hockey at all. It took 7 games for them to beat the Caps and 6 for the Flyers, and they think Ducks are a walk in the park.. LOL. Ducks are the Best defensive team in teh league, arguably the hottest goalie in the league, the strongest power forward in the game and a rough nose resilient hockey club with loads of experience. They played the Caps and the Flyers. Lol! No reasoning with Pens trolls. They just don't have any hockey intelligence.

I just read the "Bring it on Hossa" thread on the pens msgboard.pittsburghpenguins board. And they are probably the most ignorant hockey bunch that I have ever witnessed. Right from their Moderator down to their posters/fans. Here's a brief episode. The are talkin about how GREAT their Malkin and Crosby is, and how overrated Datsyuk is because he hasn't scored any goals. So a Wings fan pointed out that Malkin giveaways vs Dats takeaways, +/-, and ice time. Instead of having a hockey discussion, they bash Dats "lack of goals" and talk trash about Michigan and the unemployment rate. The moderator gets on and says "Stop trying to reason with Red Wings trolls." - So Pens fans begin on their rant that Red Wings fans have no reasoning and continue to bash Michigan.... Not one Pens fan (Or their moderator) wants to talk about defense (or about hockey and what it takes to be a complete player). Instead, they wish to brag how many goals their top two players score and talk trash about Michigan. It's so funny how ignorant they are. Even pee-wee players know that defense is the best offense and Penguins D (and goalie) isn't nearly as good as the teams that we already faced in the post-season. Teams that can score lots of goals doesn't scare me. Teams that play solid tight defense have a stellar goalie scares the s*** out me... Thankfully the Penguins don't have either. They depend on the ONE LINE WONDER, and as Wings have already proven, we can shut that down. Lastly, it's just bad juju that they are already talking about the SCF, shouldn't they be worrying about their ECF first?

Damn our team has lots of injuries this playoff year. We can still beat hawks, but it sux that some of our best players are out.

When Wings play finesse hockey without all the big hits, they are soft. When Wings play hard and make their hits, they are "gutless". funny how that works...

Like he did last year, right? Crosby is a pathetic excuse as a hockey player. He should have been a ballerina instead. People would appreciate his crying and pink spandex in that sport. Your team is only playing well because your against a tired team with no defense and a cold goalie.

Okay - Okay, so after several replays in slow-mo, lets give them the interference penalty since Havlet didn't technically touch the puck. That's only a 2 minute penalty, not 5 minutes. Kronwall should have served 2 minutes in the box at best. Not a 5 minutes PK and ejected from the game. Hawks got the calls in game 3. Hopefully game 4 will be called right. Let them play!!!!!

Personally, I think Alex Ovechkin is freakin awesome. He's more complete player than Crosby and AO is a true leader. His teammates respect him and they seem like they have a lot more fun out there. If Caps had better goaltending, Pens would already be golfing. I didn't mention Malkin because he is notorious for disappearing during SCFs...

Who cares, nobody expected the Wings to pull out a win in game 3 anyhow. Esp since Kronner was ejected and we lost Drapes. Boys won't get 11 minutes on the PK for game 4 and we should have a full line-up. We'll be fine. Funny the Hawks squeaked by teh "W" on a game they were SUPPOSE to win.
