Kessel? Not.Gonna.Happen. sorry. Patrick Eaveses? Much more realistic. Wings are pretty much set with McGrath and Oulahen.
-
Don't forget that we have Oulahen and McGrath ready to play.

So looking back, who was the better choice Latendresse or Abdelkader? Based on stats, it looks as if Abby is projected (80games) as a 16 goal producer while Latendresse is projected at 19 (per 80 games). Playoffs, however, Abby is clutch and Latendresse is a no-show. Of course the above 'projection' really means squat since anything can happen in hockey and they are both very still very young. I must say though, looking back, Wings made a good choice but couldn't go wrong with Latendresse either. Who do you like better? (be unbiased as possible please)

Problem is, Wings are stocked, locked, and loaded with 4th line checkers.

I could see Grier taking a pay cut to come back home. He's from Detroit. I thought he was a good defensive forward, but he's -5 and didn't play very much last year. Not sure what the issue is/was. Unless Grier takes a HUGE paycut, I say pass on him. Because if I remember correctly, Sharks weren't too high on him and they have lower expectations as the Wings do on their players. I'm not convinced Grier is the best fit.

Looks like Holland made the right choice once again. Out with the baggage! Chi-town had the biggest s*** storm / incompetent offseason that I've seen in years.
-
And now Havlat is healthier than Hossa. Watch Havy have a dominating season while Hossa struggles. Can't chicago do anything right?
-
Well to be fair, the front office was too busy trying to figure out how to put a stamp on the envelope and how to use the fax machine. They really had their work cut for them this year.
-
Good news. Hope these guys rock at camp and earn their spots! Home brew player > Open market players. I'd rather see the Wings develop our own players instead of signing the names that has been thrown around on this board the last month and a half.
-
I'd be pissed if I was a Chicago fan. This offseason was a real circus in chi-town and the plot keep getting thicker.
-
Off topic. But I'd love to get a high quality HELM jersey!!!11! He might be one of my new favorite players.

Play Osgood and trade Howard. His trade value will be good next year. Hypothetically speaking, of course/

Former Russian President, Putin, wants to see KHL expand to Europe
Snazzy replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Is it just me, or does it seem KHL is banking on the new Salary cap rule in the NHL? And now they are talking about expanding KHL? I doubt this would even be an idea if the cap was lifted or significantly raised. -
Interesting article about the cost of recent years trades by wings

I agree with everything quoted. -
Yzerman is a smart man, that's why its unfathomable that he'd really want to go to Chicago. This is a bogus rumor just to get 'clicks'. Absolutely absurd. Why? Because first of all, everyone knows Scotty Bowman's son (Stan) was a sure lock for the position. Second, Yzerman is on record stating he has no interest uprooting his family. As long as Yzerman has been in Detroit, he's always a man that says what he means and means what he says. This 'rumor' has bulls*** written all over it.

It's hard to deem anything the Red Wings org has done as failure when it wins as many championships as they have the past two decades. Let alone as many playoff appearances, president trophies and WCF/SCF appearances. "If winning is wrong, I don't wanna be right!" -
I hope Holland continues to sign the players who you say "what the Wings DO NOT NEED" as long as the trend continues to bring President Trophies, Stanley Cups, and Championship rings. I like players "Wings DO NOT NEED" because it means winning a lot. Not a bad trade off, wouldn't you say? That said, Holland isn't going to sign a name that is familiar or 'known'. He'll likely sign a hard working player after camp.
-
My guess is Holland will likely sign a player that very few of us are familiar with his name, and he'll be a hard working cheap paid player. He'll be determined after camp.
-
I question Toronto Sun's source (if they even have one).
-
Too funny. They call Hossa a jinx and others say: "No we don't want Hossa. He has no character or loyalty." Apparently Chicago fans have no respect for him... lol and they have to deal with him for the next 12 years. I'm so glad that Holland locked Franzen up instead of Hossa! http://boards.chicagoblackhawks.com/index....=33881&st=0
-
Would be dynamo. But Hawks would be insane to work a deal with us (unless it makes us weaker and them stronger). -perhaps a 3-way deal? Doubtful.
-
I agree that Chicago didn't get any better, but you would give Pahlsson the edge over Madden? I also believe if *if* Havlat stays healthy, he is a better asset in the playoffs (when it matters). If Chicago get rid of Sharp for a lesser player/cheaper salary, then they have become a less threat of a team -overall- from last year. Not even talking into account that their management self destructs.
-
Why the f*** do bandwagon fans try to pin a loss on one player? Last time I checked, hockey was a TEAM sport. Wow, some people here have 0 intelligence; failed logic. Also, I haven't read any posts from anyone "hating" Hossa (from any thread I read). He was a rental, plain and simple! Get over it! edit: People need to stop trying to twist bitterness in every ******* thread. It's getting old!

Hossa's window is already closing before they even begin the season. They lost: Havlat = 29g 48A 77pts [Potentially losing] Sharp = 26g 18assists 44pts in only 62 games. He's a 60pt producer when playing a full season. And he plays both ends of the ice (and has heart) Pahlsson = 7g 11a 18pts --------- Lost 139pts per season Gained: Hossa = 40g 31assists 71pts Kopecky = 6g 13a 19pts Madden = 7g 16a 23pts -------- Gained 113pts per season Which means they lost 26pts overall. And they lost significantly with goaltending. Not to mention the circus in their management in chi-town. I hope Hossa wins the cup someday, but I doubt it'll be with Chicago.
