Kinda makes me nervous that this is the "NHL's Team". Hopefully there isn't any special treatment in the post-season (like blown calls, etc). I have a feeling that if they don't get the special treatment, PHX is going to choke in either the first or second round. I still just can't picture the team making it to the WCF of SCF.

At least Lemieux accepts the fact that he deserved to be retaliated against for the Draper hit. He accepted the fact that he was going to get a beat down, and respected that Dmac stood up for his teammate. I think it is possible that he didn't have the intent to injure. It's good to see that they left the rivalry on the ice, but it's kinda like an end to the rivalry actually.

On this St. Patrick's Day, who is your favorite Patrick currently
bdavis replied to CanadaBoy's topic in General
Eaves, duh. -
He now has 10 goals, which is right behind his second season in Ottawa (14 goals), with 19 less games played. He is finding his way with the Wings. I'm betting on 15 goals this season for him. That's a very nice contribution, considering he signed for 500k, and has become a piece of the jigsaw puzzle.
-
More ice time needed! Give him a shot on the 2nd line every now and then. IMHO, I feel that he has more potential than Cleary. Eaves is still on the young side too.

150lbs of chocolate. Let's see them lift that on the ice.

Cooke didn't give a rats ass about the injury he just caused. It would be completely different if the hit was an accidental shot to the head, and the player finishing the check actually felt bad about doing it. This guy purposely hits players in the head, and doesn't give two s***s less about it. Players like this should be banned from the league. The guy is heartless trash. He is going to kill someone. Then will it really matter if Cooke hits someone in the head with a shoulder or an elbow? He knows that the way he hits causes injuries, and does not try to be better about it. That's because like I said, he doesn't give a rats ass. Edit: Added that last line.

Why is it that when they mention some statistic favoring the Wings, it backfires? Like, Iginla hasn't scored against the Wings in like 20 games. I knew when they said that he was going to score. Please stop announcing statistics like that lol!

Well, I was trying to keep the faith, keeping hopeful. I still am hopeful, just annoyed

This dropping the lead every game s*** is starting to get annoying.

Busting ass, burning eyes, scoring goals.

I do agree with you though ben that Howard did look out of position and has given up some bad rebounds. I think that has something to do with that Olympic break. Some of the goals he has let in after the break, I think he would've been able to stop them before the break.

I'm sorry, but to say Williams and Eaves were non-existent isn't true. Williams scored the third goal. Eaves also had a couple good chances (a wrap around was one of them). Eaves was hit hard and that seemed to drive him to play harder in the game. Eaves is also probably getting less ice time now, since the DHE line is the 4th. Zetterberg also had an assist on the Williams goal. I don't see what you expect. No player is going to score a hat-trick every game. Also, to say Lilja was horrible isn't true. He has played quite well for being out of the line-up for a year. Of course he is going to be slightly slower. His muscles have been used what, 3 or 4 NHL games (since Feb 09)? Not very logical to say he has been horrible, when he has been back only a few games, and has been playing well. Every defenseman on the ice is going to have a goal scored by the opposition during their shift every now and then.

GDT 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Game: Canada 3 vs. USA 2 (OT)
bdavis replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in Hall of Fame
Go USA! You can do it -
He is a very inconsistent player. In the beginning, he wasn't very good. Then he turned up the intensity of his game, and looked like a 40-50 goal scorer. Now, he looks like he did back in the beginning of the season. Why? What happened to his intensity? Did he score 15 goals and say, "Well, for 1.5 mil thats good enough"? You want to get resigned at a higher amount that 1.5 mil, then play like it damn it! I see it as him playing for his job. He had glimpses of looking like someone that could be payed double or triple that 1.5 mil.

On a positive note, it's nice to see Franzen back and scoring. Hopefully he is the lift this team needs. He's just going to get more into his groove each game.

I just don't see how they could trade Lebda and Meech. We need a 7th dman. Now that I look closer, I see Meech has a salary below league minimum. But how is that going to work? It's either deal Lebda, Meech, May, or Williams. If the team gets rid of Lebda and Meech, then wtf is going to happen about a 7th dman? Would there even be enough cap space to call up someone from GR if need be, if an injured dman is not on ltir? I have a feeling it's going to be Williams. I don't see another choice. Is there? Waive May, then trade Lebda/Meech.. for what? Draft picks? You couldn't trade them for another defenseman. Call the new defensman up, when another dman is injured not on ltir, and you are over cap. Edit Reason: Extra thoughts.

Sorry, maybe I should've said "similar" instead. Our top two lines are pretty much still there, Dats, Zetts, Franzen, Holmstrom, Cleary. Yes I do understand that we have lost Hossa, Sammy, and Hudler, but like I said, I feel this team should at least have a 5th seed right now. Don't forget who we've aquired. Bertuzzi should have a 20 or more goal season if he picks it up a little, he did decent while Franzen was out. Also, the DHE line is a nice jump-starter on offense. So yes, we still do have a decent offense, not as good a last year, but one that shouldn't be letting all of these important games go by one goal.
-
"pretty much the same team" Yes. (Minus Hossa, Sammy, Hudler). Not quite dead wrong. Didn't put that in front of the first stanza though accidentally.

50+ shots, 2 goals. PP sucks ass. Shootout chances suck ass. Come on... How can a team with pretty much the same offensive core as last year, not score at least 3 goals on 50 shots??? This is starting to get annoying. They NEVER score when they need to. PP in OT? Pissed away. Sorry all I'm just annoyed. There is no excuse for this team. This is pretty much the same team that made it to the SCF last year, and won the Cup before. Don't give me that bulls*** about them winning all the time and it's their time to lose. Or, "oh they're just getting over injuries, and chemistry is off"... Even saying that they are tired from all of the games they've played is a joke. THEY HAD 50 ******* SHOTS! You'd think that they would at least be in 5th place with all the talent on the team. Just sick of the excuses. They just don't look like they have the heart to win anymore.
-
Yeah, and where would they be in the standings if this was the case? Most likely not battling for a playoff spot.
-
Imagine what type of season this would be for Howard if he had better defense and offense in front of him. He'd be a rookie with a championship ring. This guy stands on his head, and his team doesn't appreciate it. Hopefully Howard doesn't lose confidence in himself if the Wings don't make the playoffs. Howard is going to be one hell of a goalie once this team gets it's s*** together.
-
Why is it that the Wings show up against 1st place San Jose, but fail against teams 10th and lower... Those teams aren't any better than San Jose. Seems like the team only takes San Jose seriously.. Wings will probably win against them.
-
Bye, Bye Williams. Meech will most likely be gone too. I don't see Holland getting rid of Lebda. Lebda will become 7th dman.
