Isn't this the second time Pronger has been traded for Lupul? That's just wacky...
-
I'm surprised NBC didn't force the NHL into a Penguins vs. Penguins scrimmage...

My condolences... Let's add rules that don't discourage fighting, but help to shape it into something more safe and honorable. -2 minute minor for both players if both players drop the gloves, are in a "ready position", and then engage in fisticuffs. (yes this could lead to the dreaded "staged" fight, but I believe this is going to discourage cheap shots, and "jumping" people unexpectedly) Also, you get one fight per player per game, for a second incident for any one player during the same game, 10 minute misconduct, and a 1 game suspension. -If both players do not assume a "ready position", a 5 minute instigator will go to the player throwing the first punch. (encourage them to give the other player a chance to prepare themselves) 5 additional minutes for fighting, for both players, if any player is brought to the ice, regardless of who or how. (encourage staying on your feet) 10 and a game for any player fighting with a visor. 10 and a game for fighting without a helmet. Additional game(s) suspension for any player who loses their helmet during fisticuffs as a result of improper fitting/adjustment (chin-strap). Additional 2 minute minor for "Glove Punching" or "hitting with a purse".

Any Chance Tavares Replaces Crosby as the New NHL Poster Boy?
EastLansingNative replied to Probie's topic in General
I live in Southern California, grew up in Michigan, have been following the game since I could speak. I play in the beer leagues on three different teams, three + times a week. Nope... no hockey fans in Southern California. None at all, real or otherwise. In fact, you should fly down here, and come play a pickup game with me, I'll show you just how right you are. (Make sure to get to the rink at least an hour early, it's first come first serve, they lock entry when it's full and have to turn away more people than they let in at EVERY pickup) Back on topic: I really hope Tavares or Toews or anybody else can replace Crysby. I can't stand him. It's mostly his attitude. To be truly great IMO (yes, I'm idealist where: great = marketable), you have to be at least a little humble. Stevie Y was humble to the very end, even saying in his farewell speech (to the great dismay of the crowd) that he didn't feel he deserved any of the fanfare, and that he's been surrounded by great players and coaches that deserve as much if not more credit than he. If any of the youngsters in the NHL want to be truly great, they should try and emulate The Captain as much as possible. To be worthy of poster boy status you should have: talent, skill, integrity, class, humility, be a good role model, be active in your community, display excellent sportsmanship, etc... Not just sell jerseys and key chains. I'm not sure where to find the numbers, but I'd be willing to be that Stevie Y has sold more jerseys than Crysby has to date. -
+100! Mind if I use that as my sig?

Great post! Stick around, it's nice to have true hockey fans here, regardless of their team affiliation.

Any other time I would completely agree with you. I try and be objective as possible, but tonight's officiating was baffling. I just don't get it... I'm not a conspiracy theorist per se, but if I have to watch the officiating steadily decline as it has been this playoffs, I may end up being one.

I'm still very much in shock, and too exhausted to go into great detail, but I was appalled by the behavior of the ducks fans tonight. In the parking lot after the game, a dozen drunken duck fans were rocking wings fans cars back and forth and starting fights. Not to mention the trash talking in the stands. I'm all for a little chatter back and forth, but the things these people were saying were completely classless and uncalled for. If you're going to sit and berate "soft euros" for 60+ minutes, then please trade Hiller, Selanne, etc... You don't deserve to have them on your team. While you're at it, when they show Willie O'Ree on the jumbotron, go ahead and boo... we know you want to. I'm considering selling my game 4 tickets... Anyone else care to share your experiences? (to be fair, the people in front of us were very nice and polite, and gave us a hard time about Octopi

WCSF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Ducks 2
EastLansingNative replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
You can't tell at all from the video posted in this thread, but I watched it frame by frame on my DVR after getting home from the game last night. I hate to say it, but it appeared to me that Hossa threw the first punch. It was a bit of a sucker-punch from the side as he was skating by, BARELY noticeable (except in frame by frame) and Getzlaf saw that, and responded. I'm not defending anyone's actions here, just making an observation... I haven't been able to find a clip that shows it well enough to be worthy of posting, but I'll keep looking. -
WIN!

Awww... But seriously, he's going to be an asset because he's got jump. TPBM is predicting a win in Anaheim on Tuesday, and free Arby's on Wednesday.

Note to Babcock: Forecheck - English - Verb 1. (ice hockey) To pressure the puck carrier for the opposing team -
We don't need posts, we need GOALS!!!

Personally, if I were Homer, I would have waited until after he was on the stretcher to throw the elbow... And then I would have made the "Heavyweight Title Belt" gesture, a la Tie Domi!!! But that's just me...

A suggestion to all Wings fans attending tonight's game: Stay in your seats after the game until security asks you to leave, and then say: "It's a good thing you're here, I'd like to request a security escort to my car. I do not feel safe in your parking lot." That's what I'm going to do. They need to be made aware of their security issue. Other than that, try and stick together. A large group of fans is less likely to be messed with than individuals. Also, if you own dogs that shoot bees out of their mouths when they bark, bring them with you to the game.

I would like to take this opportunity (before it gets out of hand) to remind everyone that this thread was meant to be a thoughtful and constructive dialogue about specific interactions with fans at the Honda Center, particularly during this series. If you want to go back and forth, talk trash, and make broad generalizations, might I suggest going for a walk outside, or reading a book.
-
That seals the deal, the ducks should now have to wear pink jerseys and pants.
-
The only thing I like about Anaheim is that I'm not going to be living near it much longer!
-
Actually, I appreciate your apology on behalf of all ducks fans. It's people like you that are the only saving grace of this organization.
-
When we got swept by the ducks a few years back, as the final buzzer sounded, I shattered a beer bottle against a wall, and threw a chair out a window... No kidding, Not one of my proudest moments.
