I've been playing in the beer league for about 4 years. I play Center in B league, and am trying to get my skates under me as netminder in pick-up games. I've only been playing in net for a month and I already sprained my MCL. I've been off the ice for 6 weeks and I'm about 85%. Its killing me, and I can't wait to be 100% and ready to play.

Filling canceled seats... This brings me back to my point from a while back that they really should try and get a handle on the "online ticket brokers" that are selling tickets at up to 10 times face value, depending on the game. I know season tickets are their bread and butter, but if you look at what people actually pay sometimes to go see an individual game, and add it all up, I don't think the NHL would complain much about bringing in the money that stubhub.com and the rest are making off them.

WRONG!!! I'm usually pretty quiet around here, but I have to step in and call BS when I see it. Have you ever even been to Oregon? I've lived in Eugene for 8 years, moved here from East Lansing Michigan, and Portland is only an hour and a half drive north. The WHL's Portland Winter Hawks have a great following, and have been around since the 70's. Wiki The entire state of Oregon only has one major league pro sports team, the NBA's Trailblazers. People here are insane about the 2 colleges and their teams. They also just started up a pro Lacrosse team, and they're doing really well too. I think they'd have to change the name of a team to the Portland Tsunami, or back to the Portland Rosebuds. Its more relevant, and would give them a fresh start. I thought Homer already had a nickname... The Demolition Man I kinda liked that one, and there is a movie poster to photoshop of that too. I've taken to calling Homer "The Glue" lately.

I love Dom, he's fun to watch like roller coasters are fun to ride. The "need a clean pair of shorts" kind of fun. Besides, we all knew about this before we signed him (again), its just a part of the overall package that is the DoMiNaToR!!! Love it or leave it.

Regarding Homer, I think that is a flaw with any "role player" based system, in hockey or otherwise. When you lose one, general depth isn't going to fill the gap, and thats what we've been missing. Homer is becoming the glue on this team. We'll get him back, and start dominating, you'll see.

I think they're definitely headed in the right direction. I'm becoming a fan of "NHL: On The Fly" lately. Cool replay segments with game audio only. Does anybody else think the NBC "Shift timer" is a little redundant for those of us paying attention to the game?
