Upon further reflection, perhaps the question should have been: What do you call a sold out Home Opener in Phoenix? Answer: A mirage.
-
haha. Good call. Its late and I am distraught over Wings loss. Can't change title. Ah well.

Looks like deja vu in the desert. Another win for the Yotes without many fans to see the game. For more pictures, Saturday Night Hockey in the Desert. What do you guys think? Will the fans interest increase if the Yotes continue to win? Should be an interesting game against the Wings on Thursday. (as an aside, I left to see a flick with the Wings up 2-0 after 2 and in control. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was a 4-3 Colorado final).

Beautiful save by Andersoon.

Very good game so far.

Too many men!! c'mon. Ericsson has played a nice game so far.

Great energy tonight. Loving that Grind Line.

Well it is interesting because back in May I took a look at what effect playoff success and winning the Cup had on crowds and how it translated to fan loyalty. From what I've read it would seem that in non-traditional markets it takes winning teams. I just think it is too little too late in Phoenix.

Tuesday nights = bad drawing night for hockey in Phoenix? Next two home games are against Bruins on Saturday and then Wings next Thursday. Should be interesting to see how they draw for those two games.
-
Bet you could buy tickets at the door for $15-$20 and move down beside the glass. It really is sad because the argument is "if they had a good team" people would come. Now it was only 1 game (and perhaps Tuesday nights are a tough draw) so it should be interesting to see how they do for the next few.

Announced attendance 6,899. Insane.

haha. I heard that.

Apparently now he regrets the Kelly firing and is considering asking him to return. So what is going on with the NHLPA?

Interesting move by Morency jumping off the bench to go after Phaneuf. Too bad it ended with him getting beat down. Good for him at least, for standing up for his teammate. Found a video of Fleury's shooutout winner.

Datsyuk looked great. Abdelkader was all over the place. Lidstrom was solid as per usual. Ericsson played a nice game. Jeremy Williams played well. So did Daniel Larsson. I thought Newbury was physical but not a strong skater. After the game, I was walking behind Pronger. He is MASSIVE.

Now what does this mean for the Wings? -

Some very good analysis of the trade. -
Since I'm in Lansing and usually attend the most Wings games, I was given the Detroit season preview: To read my entire Wings preview, click here. So am I off? Was it fairly bland? Agree/disagree? Let me know as I value the input. (feel free to head over to IC and comment there as well if you think I've gotten something wrong or even if you think I've gotten it right).

Apparently he is the last guy from the 1986 draft class. Such a great player.

Hockey is about to begin. In the interim we have taken to breaking up the 2010 Olympic teams into regional teams. Last week, we broke down Team Canada into 7 different provincial teams. This week, we are breaking up Team USA into different States. Team Michigan: For complete look at Team Michigan, click here.
