I wish nothing but the best for your brother and your family. As a breast cancer survivor--I KNOW survival can happen. Keep positive and spend every day enjoying what you have. The Wings have reached out to so many in this situation and I'm glad that someone was able to let them know about your family struggles. I have seen them in many situations where they truly shine off the ice! They are a wonderful group of people--from the top down. The management, coaches, their wives and the players are ALL wonderful people who are truly caring. Keep the faith.

RIP Probie! Prayers to his family and friends.

I was never a fan of Lakidillia Lilja. Yes, he could block shots and was big, but come on...the give-aways were too much. Every time he stepped on the ice, I would cringe! On the other side, I wish him the best of luck if he goes somewhere else and...he better learn how to cover!

Great original point!

Mr. Lidstrom has been taking pay cuts for several years now. I know he has more than made enough money throughout his career, but are you really saying he's not worth it? There is not a defenseman in the NHL that brings to the table what Nick does! No one can argue that. He is the most solid defenseman of this era--if not ever. Why he was not on the Norris list again this year is a mystery.

Lidstrom #1 Homer or Franzen #2 Lilja = Not on the list at all!
-
I wish him the best of luck and am glad to see a player retire when they can and not when they NEED to.

I have to agree. Willy is a nice guy and all, but it didn't work the first time, why would it now? I think they have this vision that he can qb the point on the pp. Ah, that's a bust, IMO.

I think Justin is ready for the NHL. He's proven that, IMO. However, with the talent on this team, he won't get the ice time he would if he were playing on another team in the NHL. I hope they leave him up here and save cap--just in case. He belongs here and will prove to be a solid player.

Interesting that the only goal vs the Wings began with a breakdown of defense by lakidillia Lilja. Still all of those goals were highlight reel for sure. There were some really nice moves.

I like getting my own scribbles. I agree...the "story" of the scribble is worth more than the COA to me. But then, I don't intend on selling any of my stuff. Good luck with the sale--it will be tough to get a good price. Everyone is strapped for cash right now--except people who were rich to begin with. -
I think it was an interesting move for Kopy--he's young and wanted to hang with the young boys. While he could have stayed here and learned a lot from the veterans. His choice for sure. Hossa--he was nothing but super nice at the Toast and said the he was enjoying his time here. We all knew that his coming here would probably be a one year deal. Why give him grief now? Personally, I wish them both the best of luck with their new team. But, I will be happy when we kick the Hawks butts every game though.

He's a lot like Malts is now. In the old days--Malts would throw down, but he's too afraid now. As far as Justin, he's got game when he wants or needs to. I can see him defending his team mates no problem. He's soft spoken and he's got an even temper and it takes a bit to rile him, but when he's riled, he can throw the punches pretty darn good. I think he'll work out nicely on the 3rd line.

I agree completely. Booing players is a joke. Come on...he told everyone he was coming to Detroit to win a cup--he didn't. Nuf said. He's gone and good luck to him. He was great regular season, but didn't show up for the playoffs. Gone...outta here...buh bye.

Won't miss Sammy at all! ***does the happy dance that he's gone***

newfy..."logo hunter" That's GREAT! I was so happy to see Sammy go. And, as far as this topic, no to Willy. He was here and didn't prove his worth so he's gone. Don't bring him back. Nice guy, but he just doesn't fit in. I also like the idea of Big E taking his place on the PP.

I attended the dinner last year and it was nice. The cup was there--a little extra incentive--plus my kids were with me. The cost--for dinner only--was $175 per person. If you did not golf, you sat at a table with a "prospect" and not a current Wing on the roster. We got lucky enough to sit with Johnathan Ericcson. The golf is extremely expensive. They have lots of raffle items that you can bid on. It's a business casual dress and they discourage bringing in items for scribbles. You can take all the pics you want--if you can catch the players. Usually, they try to get out of there as soon as they can and they don't arrive until the last possible minute.

I've never been a Lilja supporter. In fact, in my house, he's knowns as Lakidillia. However, I wouldn't wish this on ANYONE! I do hope he gets better soon and can get rid of the head aches.

You're kidding right? Of course I'll be watching the game. Win or lose, I'll still cheer for The Boys. This is the reason why we watch hockey all season! Minus the refs, you can't get any better hockey than this.

How can anyone blame the Refs for any of the Wings' losses?
WingsNick5 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I agree that the Wings did not play with the tenacity that the Pens did in game 6. And, while I agree that they came up short (if only by a goal) in that same game. I must also agree that the refs played a big part in the loss. The change of momentum based on their biased calls, the lack of calling blatent penalties (elbows to the head, interference on Raffy down low, interference to Nick--that resulted in a goal, hits to players that didn't have or were not near the puck), and the call on Z was just plain biased! But, IF the refs call the game like it is supposed to be called, fairly and justly, then I have no doubt that the Wings will win tomorrow night. They will have the tenacity and drive that the Pens had in game 6 and will blow them out of the water--just like game 5. Quite a bit of difference between game 5 (when the calls were made) and game 6 (when they weren't). How can anyone not see this? I'm not sure but I think it's called turning a blind eye. We can thank Buttman for his promotion of the baby to center stage status and then coaxing refs to jump on his wagon. -
We don't come on here to discuss football, we come on here to discuss hockey and our thoughts about the Wings. If this were a Lions site, I wouldn't be here. I don't follow football, although I do know that the Lions stunk. But, what does that have to do with the Wings? Ah...nothing. Good for your football team, winning a championship. I bet you also have some really pretty cheerleaders that won some kind of award too. Woo hoo! Good for Pittsburgh. The fact is, we did celebrate winning a Stanley Cup last year and will celebrate again this year.

If it weren't for the refs, we wouldn't be in a game 7. I think they will clean their act up and call a fair game on Friday. Bettman wanted a game 7 for revenue and ratings. Plus, he's trying to give Cindy, his butt plug, the cup. Either way, I like the stress that the gave 7 brings. The true spirit of hockey comes out (most of the time) and the fact that the cup winning team needs to beat the other team by four games is the point of the playoffs. The refs took one game from us and we gave the Pens two--our bad. The Boys will win on Friday night at home and Nick will hoist the cup for his hometown fans to see. I wish I could be there, but I will be happy to watch it at home with my kiddos. Go Wings.
