Bertuzzi may no longer be an option

I'm really surprised at how few moves have been made... granted, the market is smaller than expected, but this should be an interesting weekend. Amen to Sammy replacing Williams.

Big Brawl in Buffalo (vs Ottawa)

You're telling me that the immediate shift after a team's captain is KO'd, followed by a fight, that you're gonna risk retaliation? Wow, that's just dumb...

2/23 GDT: Oilers @ Red Wings

By winning, we'll only have evened up the series, and we still lost in the 1st round last year. Oh, and I watched the Oilers injure two Sabres here in Buffalo, so look for Torres (if he's in the line-up) to hurt one of the Wings, since we can't retaliate. That said, Wings win 3-2.

Big Brawl in Buffalo (vs Ottawa)

Brian Murray should have known what was coming next. And yes, I would have targeted Spezza and Heatley, also. Comparing what Ruff did to Quenville is just idiotic, norrisnick. I expected better from you.

He retired... he will not play for Detroit. Right?

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

I'm must admit there have been fewer rumors let alone actual trades being made so far... are we in for a flurry this weekend?

    Florida Wants Hudler For Bertuzzi

Just how bad was his back that it required surgery? I would think his price would be higher than what I'm reading... but if it's for Jiri Hudler and/or a conditional pick, do it... we need the grit.
  9. On another NHL forum, we routinely make fun of Toronto... but, despite the poor spelling and punctuation errors, it is hard to disagree that we're unable to defend ourselves... the Cup comment is laughable, however, so please disregard: "dont believe I ever bragged, and will never brag about anything Philthy does, but I will find humour in that s*** team kicking your pansy teams ass, especially considering the Leafs are going to kick their ass tomorrow night. and it's not just that they destroyed you on the scoreboard, it's that they smacked you guys around like such a sorry ass pansy team, the same way the blues did, and God knows how many others do. For as much as people like to talk s*** about the Leafs, I can say that there is no greater shame than seeing your team get their ass kicked on the scoreboard, watching your players get jumped and seeing them turtle up as there only answer ever to a fight, and refusing to go out there and hand out a beating. for years when the leafs have went down, they went down with pride, unlike your shameful team. for all the cups you have of late, they are not worth these all time lows you hit. I wouldn't trade our losing with pride, for your winning and laying down like ways." Do all Leafs fan feel this way about Detroit? Do all other teams view us as cowards? What will this loss do to affect what we do before the trade deadline or how other teams play us in the post-season?

    Nashville's record doesn't reflect it's team lately

Having Forsberg makes it that much harder for us to win the Central and the President's. This is going to be an interesting 5 remaining games vs. Nashville. At least we won't meet them in the 1st round.

We're pretty relentless with the Loaf-bashing. He gets some grey hairs from us.

    OFFICIAL: Forsberg traded to Predators

Sammy is a streaky goal-scorer when healthy. I can't justify keeping him on the 2nd line, yet I think that 4th line minutes wouldn't help him, either.

I would, too, but we're an elite team with fine tuning issues. I love our D and have faith in Dom, but our 2nd line should consist of some power forwards to replace Lang, Cleary and Williams... who I can't really see being a factor in the playoffs, despite Lang's consistency in the postseason.

    OFFICIAL: Forsberg traded to Predators

Crimson, you're full of insults, and not much else. Why don't you tell me exactly WHY we will go far this year as opposed to the previous 3 playoff years? This is the weakest team we've ever had, and our regular season scoring is down. What would make you think we would turn on that playoff scoring THIS year, having been unable to do it the last 3 with better scoring teams? Oh, and f*** you, too. I hate to agree, because I've been a fan of Manny's since watching him play for the Kings as their 3rd stringer. But, he seemed to lack the mental toughness to make it. Add our lack of scoring, and there's your losing recipe. I am amazed to find myself very confident with Dom's goaltending.

    OFFICIAL: Forsberg traded to Predators

How long have you been watching hockey? You know how good Forsberg is in the playoffs. Nashville is now an official contender, unlike we were last year, despite winning the President's Trophy. We either deal now, or expect an early out against San Jose or Anaheim. Think I'm full of s***? Just watch. It happened against Calgary and Edmonton. We can't beat Nashville, SJ or Anaheim in a 7-game series. They're too young, too big and too fast, and that's just fact. Oh, and Nashville definitely sold their souls for Floppa, so I really hope they fail...

Is it really a stereotype? And the game wasn't meaningless, a victory gave us our first Central Division lead, as well as the #1 spot in the NHL.

I'm still bitter about the loss. Lilja's inability to defend himself, or at least attempt a takedown, was embarrassing, but so is his overall play...

40 years without a championship will do that, but the way Calgary and Edmonton have handled us the past few years, we need some toughness. I find it interesting that a lot of teams bench their tough guys when we come in because we're not a physical threat and we can roll 4 skating lines... but, the teams that can't skate with us tend to play more physical and that sometimes throws us off of our game, and this has been the key to beating us in the playoffs.

    Name that line

How about "The Best Line in the NHL"? They were simply amazing last night.

    Return of Hatcher?

I'll always remember Hatcher as the guy that stood off to the side as the Flames scored the OT winner to eliminate us in 2004. Don't even think about it, Kenny... he is not the "toughness" we need.

    2/14 GDT: @ Dallas Stars, 8:30pm

I, too, expected more intensity, but was very pleased with the 3rd period. They could have easily let up and let the goalie be the star of the game, but really took it to Dallas. That being said, Z is so good that could Datsyuk be traded for a speedy big winger who can shoot? If we can't re-sign him, we could get something for him... or is this just crazy talk (breaking up the best line in the NHL)?

Back to Back Games = LOSS

If they would have played a 60-min. game and had been strong defensively, then no, I would allow the "they're tired" excuse. Even Lidstrom was bad. THIS LOOKED LIKE A PLAYOFF GAME. Exactly my point. Eager was right when he said "They've got nothing". They're bigger, stronger and faster. They may have well have been the San Jose Sharks last night, because that is how a series with them would look, and we follow the Sharks, as well, so we know how they play under Ron Wilson.
  24. Zion

Do the Wings want first in the conference?

San Jose is currently 5th. We are in 4th, and if we don't win the division are looking at Anaheim or San Jose. Check your numbers.
