I hate running, but this is what I've heard. I will try this. Good thing is, I am off every Monday, and skate-and-shoot is from 1-3 pm for $5.50. Will definitely make the most of the cheap ice, especially in early Sept. when nobody shows up for a few weeks. I am weakest at leg strength and my core. I will check YouTube.

Sorry to hear. As for me, I've been doing all lifting and ZERO cardio (to include any skating), so I should be looking for either a heart attack (at age 31) or a severe groin pull when I hit the ice. I'll be too damn excited to get a proper stretch after the feet his the ice!

I can relate, friend. I'll be skating in Sept. when the roller surface is removed and the ice arena returns to its normal state. I, too, will suck horribly. I'll modify my lifting routine to include hockey-specific exercises (ahem, LGW) if I can find some routines.

Any of you do hockey-specific workouts? I'll quit lifting for the summer and focus on hockey, if it will help (other than skating, of course).

Untrue, sir. Ditto. My one regret is not playing in one of the adult league's here. Women play, and there are a ton of different divisions for every school level. Would have liked getting the wife to be my defense partner. http://www.performaxhockey.com/ Pick-up here is only $5-$8, but the times are bad - during working hours or in the evenings from 7-11 pm... just like the adult leagues. Ugh!

I've looked worse than Cheli vs. Selanne on that breakaway goal in the least-talented of pickup games. But... I love this sport like no other. I'll get some pics this season before transferring to Italy.

It's cute seeing all of the "The Real Hockeytown" signs when I go see the Wings in Buffalo. They're so cheap, and so committed to the wrong players (Tim Connolly) that it will be painful listening to the complaints this year. I'll have to skate more this year.

Wings fans simply don't make enough noise. Also, texting during the whole game seems like a pretty dumb idea, but I see as many men as women doing it. I don't get it.
