The problem is that, right now, it is hard to justify Zetterberg's salary when comparing him to Pavel Datsyuk. Datsyuk looks like a steal at 6.7 million right now.

Rest = good. Stanley Cup hangover = bad. Any time off is GOOD time off. The Stanley Cup is the only thing that matters, and it's a LONG season. Instead of flying from Phoenix to Montreal and dealing with the press, NHL brass and the public, each and every Detroit Red Wing is flying to Detroit and going HOME. A week off. How you fail to see that this is good for the team is beyond ME.

You're kidding, right? The All-Star Game is absolute s***e, and (as mentioned before) the SuperSkills Competition has been watered down to pure idiocy. This is the BEST thing that could have happened... I remember Malts saying he took his family to the Caribbean one year during the All-Star break. I love that Nick and Pavel will get rest along with the rest of the team. I was watching a stat the other night, and I had forgotten how badly the Cup champs (and SCF loser) had fared the year after, and this is a good thing that Detroit is not represented. When the ratings come out, Bettman might (keyword: might) get a clue.

Hey, LeftWinger... did you know that Detroit is (or was) known as the Motor City? Did you know that Detroit is the original home of Motown records? Did you know that the Detroit Red Wings are an original 6 team with a (recent) tradition of winning? What am I getting at here? How about tradition? I personally love "Hey, Hey Hockeytown" as a goal song, and the organ and pump-up music played. I don't care for the situational music played, but I'll take the good with the bad. I love that the goal horn hasn't changed since 1995 (along with the center ice logo). And I love oldies. Yes, it's 2009, and I can't think of a better length of time (the last few years) to NOT play music from. I hate the techno s*** that gets played during the warm-up skate, and am very glad that isn't played throughout the game.
