One of the reasons I love being in Buffalo; endless hockey coverage, and genuine concern for his well-being.
-
Are you referring to the play late in the 3rd on the power play? This team's lack of depth is being exposed, and their defense just isn't very deep. One injury in the playoffs on the backline, with this roster, can literally be all it takes to lose a series the way we've (not) been scoring.
-
They'd better, or I think we all know that a first-round exit (yes, another one) is in store for us.
-
The Red Wings were thoroughly destroyed tonight, and it was embarrassing to watch them take their assbeating and do nothing about it. My wife went to bed early, because I absolutely lost it when I saw this play. Get him off of this team. Now.

To win the Stanley Cup.

I love this team. I want them to win. I complain when they lose. The End.

I am ALMOST in support of a limited role; power-play point on the second unit. Secondary scoring MAYBE. He's not nearly as good as he used to be... oh, and I hate him.

I cannot really picture Floppa having friends to begin with... ... maybe that's my Homer glasses talking.

Here's the real question: How much are the Wings willing to give up for a better shot at THIS YEAR'S Cup?
-
Atlanta will accept nothing less than Lidstrom and Draper. Problem: They have no-trade clauses. Solution: They will waive them. Win-win-win situation. (See Michael Scott)

Brian Engblom is right. The Ducks have the best defense. Our defense is too small for the bigger teams, and too slow for the faster teams. We need depth on defense now, or I'm predicting as early as a first-round exit. If Cleary really is done, then we certainly may be, also.

I am still a big fan of MMA, even though I watch it much less now that it is more mainstream, and ESPN still chooses to snub it. I don't mind that hockey is more of a niche sport, either. ESPN is certainly not the be-all and end-all of sports. People are just easily convinced of such things.

I stand corrected, and apologize. Thank you for correcting me.

Oh, and Ken Holland should not even CONSIDER getting Mark Bell. He can tryout during the 2009-2010 after another miserable season in Toronto, by then he may no longer have an NHL job.
-
KpWings, you're talking out of your ass. Mark Bell's incident took place when he was in Chicago. Do your homework before you accuse a player's coach for poor decisions that the player makes. Stupid comments like yours show a severe lack of knowledge, and negate plausible arguments that might make a fellow LGWer take you seriously.

No Cleary Day game 2nd game of a back-to-back vs. Ducks (second time) Final Score: Ducks 4, Wings 1
-
Nice pic. Need someone who can put Kunitz down and out after that, or it's going to be a short series.

Apparently you only read the scoresheet. If you actually watched the game, you wouldn't be saying something so idiotic. Between Rafalski's turnovers and flat-footedness, Lilja's fear of Teemu Selanne and Lebda's sheer lack of size and strength, this is a no-brainer. We need bigger D, or they're going to roll over us in 5 or 6 games. The officiating will not get much (if at all) better, so the Wings will have to look out for themselves. Ahh, I see someone besides me DID watch the game. Or at least pay attention.

1) Yes, and this is why the Wings need to get a DEFENSEMAN at the deadline. Are you reading this, you Hossa, Sundin, [insert forward's name here]-hungry idiots? 2) Yes, they were invisible. 3) These guys are going to be difference-makers in the playoffs. If they can't compete physically, it will be tougher on our top guys in the long run. A seven-game series can be brutal. 4) I thought the power play unit was just okay, until the end. Of course, the power play unit was okay, until the end of game 6 of the WCF last year, too. 5) We play them tough. They have bigger bodies and better fighters. I'll take goal-scoring over that anyday. Sidenote: Yes, I was very surprised that Scotty Needavacation was actually playing some defense today. He's normally a tougher version of Paul Coffey and not much more.

Get well soon, Mick! Here's to many more years of our favorite color commentator!

Yeah, I said it. I thought my GDT was spot-on.

Allow me to bring this thread back onto the rails it belongs... 1) The Wings need tougher defense. The rest of you idiots who have, all week, argued for a 2nd line scorer can enjoy your crow. Once again, the defense failed to move bodies when it mattered, and our shaky goaltending (again, when it mattered) was not backed-up 2) Bad officiating happens all the time. Get over it. The Kunitz crap in the 2nd period led to a goal and took the Wings out of the game. Duck fans complain that they get called for too many penalties, but the fact is, they commit so many penalties that the refs cannot catch them all, so you get a BAD call like the "trip" on Zetterberg. 3) Aaron Downey fought the much bigger George Parros very, very well. I would like to buy him a beer. Now, that said... the Wings (Chris Osgood, especially) have been nothing short of lukewarm in terms of playing, and we will again not make the SCF with this kind of roster. The NHL is ready to hand the Ducks the Cup already, and (at this point), so am I. This is exactly the team we need to build against (despite several fools on this board who disagree), and right now, we are not there.

Funny you mention him. Watching NHL Network and some old Wings playoff games. Holy f*** was he horrible!!!
