Since I do not watch ESPN, I was wondering if the ESPYs had any hockey-relevant awards last night. I know it's supposed to be a big deal, but I couldn't care less - though I love the awards, and this year's awards show was pretty disappointing since Jimmy Howard didn't win the Calder Trophy. I remember this game. Wisniewski smoked Doan, and then everyone spent the rest of the period/game going after Wisniewski. f*** Doan. I do agree that we do need someone to straighten out players like Doan who run around hitting all of the Wings, with no one to even run them back with any authority (no offense to Helm, and I'm pointing to you Kronwall).

I can't believe some of the idiotic things I'm reading on this thread. Pavelski: great player, worth $4 million Marleau: outstanding player, would make $7 on the open market, so this is a higher signing than I thought, and certainly takes the Sharks out of Niemi range. Thornton won't be traded, but when he coasts through another playoff this year, he won't be re-signed and will end up in Atlanta.

This is a great thread, especially now that it is RELEVANT. The Wings are no longer the kings of the Bestern Conference, and now the bell will need to be answered more, as the new crop of teams are going to try to "put them in their place", so to speak. I ******* hate Ben Eager, but it is certainly notable how well he has played this playoffs. The Wings simply need to retool, and do so by adding chippier players, but MORE IMPORTANTLY by using players that aren't going to be injured come playoff time. Thus, Jason Williams' private surgeon Raffi Torres, who I also ******* hate, would be off the table because of how reckless he plays. Asham is certainly growing on me.
