Not as much as I thought it would be, but then again I thought the cap was going up too fast to begin with.

Normally, I'd say "Good, it's over" regarding the streak, and let them start a new winning streak. However, they have not been playing very well since the break, and have a few big games coming up. One for pride, and one as a measuring stick for the playoffs. Let's hope they step it up.

I'd be lying if I said I WASN'T coming around on the idea of Fedorov coming back and doing just what you said, playing both positions. That's a great asset to have. I still hate Fedorov.
-
Exactly right. You need to be able to clear the zone, make that first pass, anchor both power play backends.
-
That is a stupid reason to not get the guy. He is big, strong and can still play D. Game. Set. Match. We can always use scoring, but we lose games when we get trapped in our own end and can't clear the zone because our smaller D gets pushed around. Yes, I'm talking about the Ducks. You know, the team that eliminated us last year. Defense first. Scoring second... you do realize this is the playoffs we're talking about, right?

What do you have against Rob Blake? Are you sure you're not thinking of Chris Pronger? Claude Lemieux? Lidstrom/Rafalski Kronwall/Blake Lilja/Chelios Lebda Sounds pretty good to me.
-
Unfortunately, he may be ineffective for the rest of the season. If not, he would be the perfect depth defenseman we need.
-
We need depth on defense and more offense from Huds and Flip.
-
Sorry... I meant Top 5 in +/- for forwards. He's 4th.
-
He's definitely improved his strength and conditioning, especially in the lower body. His balance is phenomenal, and he's definitely earning his paycheck.
-
Dan Cleary is one of four forwards who play in all three situations: Even strength, power-play and penalty kill. Homer does not do this. Have you forgotten that this team is built on its stifling DEFENSE??? Oh, and Cleary has just as many goals, more points than Holmstrom does, and is a +22... third among forwards and top 10 in the league. I agree.

"Fearless Dan" will stay in Detroit. He won't put up his kind of numbers on another team. Clearly now (no pun intended), he wants to win. He'll get a payraise and take a discount. Everyone wins.
-
Too many roster spots filled. He can try for next year.

I have. I live in Buffalo, and you're out of your ******* mind. And overpaid. I called WGR and jokingly said the Sabres should get Homer for Max, and they lit me up, saying that would never happen, and then they were even more pissed when they found out that Homer makes LESS than Max does. He's a severe underachiever who (now) can't stay healthy. He is small and can't finish. Why the f*** would you want him for the PLAYOFFS?
-
People in Buffalo would love to hear you say that. They want him OUT of here. This is 100% correct on a scale of 0-100%. You couldn't possibly be any more correct. It isn't mathematically possible. Not yet. We don't have the technology.
-
If secondary scoring is your only concern, I'm glad you're not Ken Holland. What would we do if someone pulls a Jody Shelley on one of our guys like he did Brad Stuart?
-
Your post was so in-depth that I was almost buying into it. Thank you, Sponge, for bringing me back to Earth.

Mmmmmm... fish sticks. Seriously, though (because fish sticks suck, I'm just hungry)... the Quacks will get over this. They will make the playoffs, and they will play us. The Wings need to be ready. Low-scoring games that are physical and poorly officiated.
-
Wow, never thought I'd hear a "New World Order" request again! That was our team's theme (the Nuclear Postmen, best hockey team name ever). Now that is classic! Being Motown, I was always a fan of oldies being played. How times have changed.
-
This is inexcusable. Please turn in your Wings card.
-
Again, tradition... something none of you appreciate. Go watch Columbus or Nashville or Atlanta, and appreciate an expansion team.
-
Did Keith Primeau die? Anyone who thinks Scott Neidermayer is a better defenseman than Nicklas Lidstrom has probably only watched hockey for about a year and a half. I respect his accomplishments, and think he is possibly the best skater in the league, but he is nowhere near as good as Lids on defense. Not even close. Not even in the slightest. Not one bit.

Excellent GDT.

First, thank you for your service. I transferred a year ago from a ship (on my 3rd deployment) to a reserve center, and we are still sending people to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, you name it. Second, you are exactly right... and anyone complaining about the music should just not go to the Joe. I'll be going to three games next month, and I couldn't be MORE excited. I'll be the guy happily stomping and chanting "Let's Go Wings!" to the familiar organ music.
