Don't worry, Datsyuk and Thornton are looking like very good deals at 6.7+ for 7 and 3 (for Thornton, I think) when compared to some of today's salaries, and in 3 years (with rising caps), 1.6 million will be chump change. This is a better deal than Maltby's.

As usual, I think it is absolutely ridiculous to try and predict a score. However, isolated incidents are absolute fair game: - Homer has a goal disallowed - Homer takes an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty - Homer is given a 10-minute misconduct - Homer leads NHL in PIMs by end of the game

Nothing but good can come from hockey season starting (and definitely ending) earlier, and 8 divisional games is 2 games too many. This is nothing new. Why is Bettman... the way he is? I hate... so much... about the way he chooses to be.

Good character win for the Wings. This was a huge game. These teams are likely to have more playoff series against each other. The Sharks are going to be sticking around for a while. Now if these teams can just beat the Ducks...

It is hard NOT to genuinely like Larry Murphy, and he's come a long way in his broadcasting career, as demonstrated by his by-the-ice broadcast from my distant and recent memories in the studio. But the hair REALLY makes me laugh... and I do not like to laugh at my Red Wings. Ever.

I absolutely love the "Projected Line-ups", Aflac. I do, however, have one request: Due the fact that Andreas Lilja has returned from his impressive playoff form to, well, a pylon... can we rename him The Pylon? Staples Center is pretty nice... and there are a LOT of Red Wings fans on the West Coast!!!

Sharks dominated. The only difference in that game vs. a typical Red Wings loss (Chicago losses excluded) was that Thomas actually made good saves and was not taking all of his shots in the chest, like he would if the Wings were shooting at him.

All babbling aside... are you high? Draper IS on the 4th line and is mainly used as a special-teams guy. Line-juggling aside, he doesn't try to do what Dats and Z do... he wins faceoffs, gets the puck out of the zone and does a GREAT job forechecking, using his speed and smarts to be an absolute pest in the offensive zone. Oh, and he scored a goal last night.

WingNutt, as much as I try and support local business as opposed to big business, I couldn't agree more with your statement... and only wish my wife and I could snack on some Crazy Bread with tonight's game. No Little Caesar's here in Buffalo.
