This is a bittersweet victory for my wife and I. I love the Wings and like the Sharks. She loves the Sharks and likes the Wings. We both wanted to play Dallas in the 2nd round and let SJ and Anaheim battle it out (a great rivalry, by the way) and then play the winner. It's too bad it turned out this way. I personally didn't think the Wings could beat the Sharks, and if they did that they would be too beat up to handle those bums over in Anaheim, who have had a ridiculously EASY schedule. Now I think the Wings stand a good chance if they can stay healthy. The Mathieu Schneider loss will prove bigger in this upcoming series. Don't worry, Sharks fans, you have a GREAT team for years to come. Now, GO RED WINGS!!!

Game's finally on Vs. here in Buffalo. Can I just say that I am AMAZED at how well the Wings look. While they only have 1 shot in the period, they look extremely confident. Wish I could've seen the first period. :-(

Shouldn't be. Sharks fans are pretty educated. Granted, every team has idiot fans, but they're surprisingly good. Joe isn't a goon, but he is clearly frustrated, and not a good idea for him to be taking penalties (should they get called) when they got him to score.

I also picked the Sharks (in 6), mainly due to watching them all season and seeing just how dynamite they can be. I am amazed at the Red Wings will, and even if they still lose this series, they've proven that (this year) they're built for the playoffs.

Thanks to Dallas and Vancouver's inability to play decent hockey (save for Turco and Luongo, respectively), and Minnesota not posing a challenge at all, Anaheim has pretty much coasted into the Western Conference Finals to pick up where they left off last year. Now, because of the war between the Wings and Sharks and Sabres and Rangers, I have to ask: How likely is it that Anaheim and Ottawa will meet in the Stanley Cup Finals? I say fairly likely, and it is a definitely worst-case scenario for me as a hockey fan, and I'm sure the league would not approve, as the ratings will be extremely low. Your opinion?
