Little Joe is a good young player, but San Jose has plenty of those. Mark Bell has been just awful. All year.

Convince me why I shouldn't be dreading this series....

Now you're just being stupid. Yeah, I said it... feel free to quote this if you're right. I'll gladly eat some crow with Bernie. Now this is correct. I feel that Detroit CAN play a good 5-on-5 series if the forwards do not let SJ get that step on them when they rush. As for the work in the corners, only Anaheim is as effective as the Sharks. We will have to work very hard and play smart. -

I've watched both teams religiously this year. The Wings cannot skate with the Sharks. They will win if they are smarter and play a team game and utilize their experience, but they can't win based on size/speed and overall youth. -

Wrong. Dead wrong. Correct. Absolutely correct. The forward lines match up okay, although San Jose has better pure scoring, but our forwards will have to be VERY GOOD defensively (are you reading this, Bob Lang?), and our DEFENSE cannot take hooking penalties (Schneider) or their PP will pick us apart. Hasek is better than Nabokov, no question... but Hasek will be MUCH busier and Nabby will be much LESS busier than Kipper was. -
This is so untrue, it's not even funny. Similar to the Rangers talking about taking the Sabres down. The only difference is, San Jose can beat us. 5-on-5 play is going to be the key. The Wings owned Calgary, but San Jose is MUCH more offensive than Calgary. While Nabby isn't as good as Kipper, the Wings HAVE to bury their chances, because the Sharks WILL be a much greater offensive threat.

Wings fans and Sharks fans have a lot in common: - They own Nashville - They both survived some cheap shots in beating first round opponents - They outclassed their opponents in Round 1 Being a Wings fan who has followed the Sharks all year, I can say that this is going to be a TOUGH series. I feel cheated, mainly because a rested Ducks team is getting a tired Canucks team that shouldn't go 6 games. How's Cheech?

Just wondering, because we made our own on a dry-erase board at work, with our picks (I'm 6-for7 right now) and we still had to print it out and hang it on the other side of the office because it looks so good.

Glad to hear. Thanks for the update.

Agreed, and I can't believe I didn't praise Filppula. What a series! You're exactly right, the key word is DEPTH. A great team effort, and I hope the boys get a few days off and a few good practices. Glad Lebda thinks he'll be back soon. Here is a question: Is Kyle Quincey on the roster as a healthy scratch or did we call him up only because of Lebda's injury?

Best thing about round 2, playing an AMERICAN team.

Nothing wrong with the Canadian National Anthem. Many things wrong with CBC, and its ridiculous bias. Here's to a series with Dallas... -
MVP of the Series: Mikka Kipprusoff MVP for the Wings: Nicklas Lidstrom - had one bad game and 5 very good ones Honorable Mention: Daniel Cleary - all heart and EXACTLY what this team needs Notables: Andreas Lilja - REALLY, REALLY impressed. He played very smart, and certainly shut me up. Kyle Quincey - Are you SURE he hasn't been playing with us all year? Dominik Hasek - Made some key saves that shouldn't go unnoticed. Bob Lang - actually had a few DECENT moments. Todd Bertuzzi and Henrik Zetterberg - getting better every game. Almost 100 percent?

Chris Chelios shares the "Captain America" title with the UFC's Randy Couture.

Thanks for posting. Nick had a bad playoff last year vs. Pronger. This year, he's off to his usual excellent self. And I thought the Norris was for regular season performance. He's a lock for it.

Best response of the 1st round... ... now let's see if the Wings wear them in Round 2.
-
Okay, then I am off to bed. Goodnight, everyone. GO RED WINGS!!!
-
Hang on to Kipper, Flames. What an amazing goaltender... just amazing.
-
Precautionary, right? That's what the CBC guys said. I was hoping it wasn't an eye. I kept thinking of Stevie...

... Detroit has every reason to lose tonight: 1) They've lost every other game in Calgary 2) They never play well out West 3) They're playing after NO rest 4) They're missing players That said, if they win tonight, I will go nuts. LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!
-
I am recording the CBC post-game. I have got to see this crap. You're not alone. I was equally as loud. Good thing I'm home alone tonight.
-
I take full credit for this win. :-P Terrific showing by the Wings. They just would not quit... EVER. This is the first game where they outskated the Flames at home. Whatever they had for breakfast, save some of that for our next round. I cannot tell you how relieved I am that this did NOT go 7 games, and that they can get a short break while we all await the result of the Vancouver/Dallas series to see who we're playing in Round 2. LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!!
-
Excellent responses. And I like the "fix'd" version much better. Go Wings!!!
-
Exactly what I was thinking. It's "You're an ass. Grow up.", for heaven's sake. This board makes me want to teach remedial English.
-
If you've only seen two games in the series, please refrain from suggestions, because you really just sounded like a complete idiot there.

What the hell does "lawlz" mean? Good read, thanks for posting, guys.

Don't bother. We have a fairly good discussion board here (misspelled words and grammatical errors aside) and some good Flames fans here, as well. Keep it local, boys. I enjoy the discussions.
