3/29 GDT: Red Wings @ Predators

Predicting goal-scorers is dumb, but this is definitely a huge game, and I'm actually surprised that Babcock is going with Osgood. Nashville's offense is better than Dallas, and this game has more importance, being a division rival, than a game vs. the Stars.

    VILLE NIEMINEN

I've said from the get-go that it wasn't a "dirty" hit. I'm even surprised that Ville has a history of hits like this, because he is not a "dirty" player, just an agitator... and it doesn't surprise me at all that he went to visit Brett and apologize to him, as he seems to be a very likable guy and was very popular in San Jose.

OFFICIAL Lets Go Oilers Thread of 3/27

Good. Glad to see them lose. Perhaps they and Nashville can self-destruct each other? This thread has been closed.

    Toledo Storm!

Chris McSorley and the Goaldiggers. My dad told me that one time he bit off part of a guy's nose in a fight. I never could tell if he was kidding or not.

    Toledo Storm!

I was fortunate enough to watch games during their first two seasons before moving to CA. Hope they're still around when I get a chance to come back and visit.

    My sentiments, exactly. Great effort.

3/24 GDT: St. Louis Blues @ Red Wings, 2:00 PM ET

And this is the stupidest thread I've read in a while. We did deserve to lose because we (again) failed to show up for a 60-minute hockey game. The Wings were skating around the Blues in the 3rd period, but by then their goalie was simply stopping everything. The Blues deserved the win, and have beaten us, what, 3 times in a shootout this year?

Lebda hit from behind, suffers concussion

I also think that Lebda saw him coming and still turned to play the puck. Ville, a rough (but not dirty) player, did not let up on the hit in time. He's a good guy, though, so it doesn't surprise me in the least that he went to the hospital to (I'm guessing) apologize and make sure Brett was okay.

    Red Wings attendance is DISGUSTING!

I would pay $80 for a seat, instead of $150 on eBay. It's bulls*** that they buy them, and don't go. And then the little guy gets screwed. Typical.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

He was skating much faster late in the game. Seemed rusty, and needs to (obviously) develop some chemistry. I didn't understand putting him AND Homer on the same line, however. I thought Flip had played well enough with Dats to warrant having Bertuzzi be the big guy in net. But if Babcock wants him to dig in the corners and keep Homer in front, that will work, also, I guess.

3/22 GDT: Blue Jackets @ Red Wings

The goaltending has been very good (save for Dom's dive) the past few games. Time to start scoring, or else...

    White Jerseys Again?

Black is not a team color. Vote "No" on trendy 3rd jerseys.

    Fighting?

No. Stick infractions and head shots are not being penalized severely enough.

    Tonight's Lines with Bertuzzi

Expect to see some line juggling tonight. Homer hasn't been as effective without Zata, and Flip and Dats are playing well together. Look for a change at wing on the top line. As for the 2nd line, Robert Lang doesn't deserve to center that terrific line (on paper/Calder's performance, let's see how they do). As for Franzen/Draper/Maltby, they should be together for the rest of the year. Too bad about Huds. He's been very good lately, even when the rest of the team hasn't.

Bertuzzi will have a Gordie Howe Hat Trick tonight. You heard it here first.

Internal error. Nice job, guys. You've crashed the poll.

3/20 GDT: Red Wings @ Flames

It's obvious that many of the shots were Sammy-like shots: harmless and from a distance. I FF'd through most of the 3rd, and was surprised when I heard the shot totals, because the Wings just didn't have that much offense.

Latest on Bert, as well as others

Agreed, Langfeld is easily the worst of the 3. We've missed Blue-Collar Cleary and I'll be watching Bertuzzi closely to see how he plays. I'd like to see Chelios play the same time Bert starts, but I understand he has a week off... I'm sure to his chagrin.

Zetterberg may not be 100% for the rest of the season, so we can't use that excuse. To whoever posted that "I swear I was watching a playoff game", you are not alone. Some of us don't have our homer glasses on, and recognize a future 1st-round sweep.

    Reffing the past 5 games....

    This is correct. Thread closed.

3/20 GDT: Red Wings @ Flames

Isn't that what everyone does in Detroit : blame it on the goaltender? Now, I agree with RyanBarnes, that having Dom vice Manny in net is a HUGE difference, the offense HAS to overcome both the trap and the physical style of play we've seen the past two games.
