Penguins Barely Survive for 1 More

I don't have a big head about it at all, I'm just getting a kick out of the way Wings fans are framing it today. Looks a lot like an unsure fanbase trying to sell themselves on a theory that everything will be A-OK. Not a fanbase looking objectively at a game and discussing their chances on Friday. Look above you at Snazzy's post. How many CAPITALIZED LOL's and !!!!!!!!!!! do you need to type to convince the forum you are laughing and at ease; having a great ole time?

And that has nothing to do with the Penguins, right? No smothering defense, no Fluery finding his groove, no tremedous penalty kills? Man, the Pens and the entire city are sooooooooooooo lucky the Red Wings had boys and the prom and what they were going to wear to the big party at Sally's house on their minds and forgot to play a hockey game.

Penguins Barely Survive for 1 More

This is a pathetic thread started by a pathetic person who claims to be a "fan". It reeks of desperation, cluelessness, and false smugness covering for fear and insecurity. Game 6 was incredible and Game 7 has the potential to be a war.

My Strategy if I were Byslma

I'd direct my team to come out firing for at least the first 10 to 15 minutes of period 1. I'd instruct the players to shoot from every angle and from any vantage point. I'd instruct the forwards to crash the net when the puck is at the point hoping for a rebound or a redirect off of a Gonchar or Letang slapper. Maybe you get a nice shot or deflection, maybe you get some action in the crease maybe you get a powerplay out of it. If Ozzie looks to be gobbling up and black-holing all things puck-like, then we still have 45 minutes to revert pack to pass-pass-pass-set-up-pass shoot. What is there to lose, 'cept Stanley's shiny cup?

I don't think PPs will be the difference. the Pens tend to go cold with the man advantage when they really need a goal. The poke check and steal are what turns these type of games around. With Dats in the line-up it is a much tougher task.

My Strategy if I were Byslma

This is the reason my idea was not an overall strategy overhaul, line-up change, or scheme...it was just shoot early and often. if you want to dump and chase, fine shot from the odd angle coming out of the corner. Shoot from the point instead of trying to feather a pass down low. Shoot from the slot and chase the rebounds.

Billy G. and Holmstrom have both been good screens for the Wings in this series. This game has to be more about offense than relying on Fluery, his track record in huge games is a little suspect.

So, the fact that this is a Wings board gives you the excuse to act like a **** and resort to the easy and tired "Crosby" pile-on?

the Pens' bus was warming up once as soon as the Wings went up 3-0. 1-1, 2-1, 3-1 and there isn't the same frustration penalties and immature play, IMHO.

What are you babbling about? Do you have an opinion regarding tonight's strategy?

    I would too.

Carrying on. If you look back at game 6, the Pens had some very huge opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the game. Put one in and that game's whole tone changes. Not saying the Pens win the game, but it sure makes it a different story. That is what I see tonight. Create some activity, keep Ozzie on his heels, and punch one in early.

Hey there, litte fella. Care to discuss hockey and tonight's game? Maybe it'd be interesting to talk about the prospects of the game and strategy from opposing views? If not, and gushing over songs and fan sound wavs is your thing; no worries, buckeroo..there are plenty-o-threads about that stuff too. There is a game six tonight and the Cup will be in the house. My team needs to win to stay alive, yours needs to just win to end it. I'm interested in discussing how each with try to reach thier goal this evening. Wanna figure out that oh-so-hard delimma of which shirt to buy? There is a thread. Itching to discuss if Hossa will be a Wing in 2035? There is a thread. Miffed about who is nominated for which NHL award? there is a thread.

This series has been rife with Pens second and third liners buzzing the crease without their stick on the ice. The Pens don't have the body and gumption that Malone provided them last year. It is, in my opinion, far to late to try and camp in front of the net. I was thinking more fluid crashing trying to time the slap shot and the rebound to provide an opportunity. The Crosby and the PigBoy goals of game 4 were spectacular examples of passing and timing, but I don't think they get those type of opportunities unless they break the game open a bit.

    Mellon Arena

You are only going to get hassled if you act like an idiot or gloat about things (if there are things to gloat about). A bit of advice, don't run your mouth back if someone runs thiers at you, unless you are prepared to actually get physical. I've been to scores of games in other cities (football, baseball, hockey) and I can tell you this: aside from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh is one of the only cities where a person that steps up to fight is actually willing to fight. Most cities have fans that run their mouths and jaw a lot but never actually throw down. At Mellon Arena you shold be fine, the bars are a differnt story. Or you could be like many out-of-towner fans and run into to some gracious, friendly, sporting folks and have the time of your life. Total crap soot.

    Just another reason wings fans

Your life's goal seems to be remembering to breathe in between saying miraculously vapid and inane things.
