First off I would like to remind everyone that Nick Lidstrom is NOT the best Dman in the league now. Anyone who thinks so has a serious bias towards the wings. Is he still good? Yes. However, he got exposed this year and while i think he can do better, i don't think he is worth 6.5 million. Howard proved capable this year. But who is to say he will next year. A lot of times rookie goalies play well their first year and then struggle the next. Look at Tim Thomas (who i realize wasn't a rookie). He won the veizna and then lost his starting job. It's not guarenteed that Howard will be good next year. Where's your motivation to come back? Is this general motors worker trying to win a championship? No. I'm sorry but this is still a bad comparison. The GM worker is asked to come back to help them make more money and run the company smoothly. Nick Lidstrom is asked to come back to help win a championship. Right, cuz living with (we'll say) 30 million is so much different then living with 28 or 27. Lidstrom and his family are set for life. I'm pretty sure they can live off of a multi million bank account. All in all I also am pretty disappointed with the value. I think Nick needs to be back to 2008 form to be worth his 6.5 or whatever million dollars. I just don't understand the thought process that goes in to these players when coming back. Do you wanna make money or win a cup? if you wanna win, take a cut.

I'm sure Datsyuk and Zetterberg would hardly be getting 100 points anywhere else. I know dats has had a couple 97 point seasons and at least one of those years he was playing on a line with zetterberg. Find it hard to believe if both of them could get 100 elsewhere they couldn't do it together. And with the whole kopitar not getting better defensively. I also find taht hard to believe. NHL players are constantly improving their games. Why is it that only red wing players seem to develop defensively but no one else can? I'm just saying that seems to be the attitude of some ppl on here

any of the other captains. It's not like dallas drake where he was at the end of his career and hadn't won yet.

If you had to predict what the 2010-2011 Roster WILL look like

wouldn't that be awesome haha, impossible, but it'd be awesome -

Ok we don't want draper to retire now, we'd rather have him since the wings will eat the cap anyways. I've heard Poni a locker room cancer. Idk how true it is but I have a friend who knows Toronto's old Medical Trainer and he told me that Poni was just a slefish dick. I know i'm gonna hear the stories of i know so and so from so and so and so and so kinda poke fun at me stories but take it for what it's worth. -
Haha you got mr leino in there. such a goon

How else are bad teams supposed to get good? If the bad teams don't get good draft picks then they would never get good. Nobody wants to go play for a bad team. It sucks that chicago got such good draft picks but that's what happened. Different teams build in different ways. I think i'd rather be in detroit's position where they make key free agent signings and develop throughout the draft than chicago where if they wanna rely on good draft picks will have to suck for so long until they get good again.

I agree with the OP. I want the wings to catch them in cups. Whoever said it will never happen is wrong. It is very possible that it happens. Maybe not everone on this board will be alive to see it, but maybe some of us will. Remember, never say never. Plus i want philly to make it cuz i like carter, richards, and gagne. Also it'd be cool for a team from the winter classic to be in it three years in a row. I also think philly has a better chance at beating chicago, who i hate. So i say GO PHILLY

thank you for answering that. and i think you're right, i was pretty sure it was 42 as well

I have a question on Hossa's contract. Since he will make 7,900,000 a year until 2016-17 then he'll make around 4 mil then it's 1 mil after that for the remainder of his contract, does the 35+ thing come into effect or does that only count when you are 35+ and sign a contract? So my main question really i guess is say he retires in 2017-18 when he's gettin paid 1 mil and his cap hit is 5 million and whatever, does that cap hit still apply the the hawks?

At least the next game is in Philly so the Flyers don't have to worry about that
-
I feel the exact same way. I know Hossa's decision was smart for him but it still doesn't make me happy he left haha. I think had we had Hossa we'd be right back in the wcf against chicago again. I don't think it'd be the hockey gods rewarding him. I think it'd be that Chicago has a fine team put together and they have a great chance at winning. But i still think philly can do it. I also hope they can. I feel the exact same way!

beat me to it haha You can't exclude the boogie man. He's probably the top fighter in the league right now. He is one scary man

Does anyone think the Eastern conference can win the Cup?
Mitchmac33 replied to Vladifan's topic in General
TRUTH. I go to school in indiana and that's all i hear about, it's so annoying. But i think the flyers can do it. someone beat me to it and posted a lot of a talent that ppl overlook. philly is sound defensively, not just with defensemen but two way forwards. Mike richards is an animal in that department. I think too many ppl are just looking a big names, everyone needs to remember that this is hockey, not basketball, and any team can win on any night. -
does anyone know kaberle's contract right now? like salary and years remaining?
-
That. Was. Awesome.

Oh don't get me started on Lucic. That would be a dream come true! Also a question. Is it confirmed Zuccerallo Aasen is signed with the Rangers? I just like him haha

WIN, sums up my feelings exactly. I don't necessarily think their is one, but wouldn't be surprised if there was. EDIT: also my favorite would be when the wings scored the first goal in the 08 finals and it got called back cuz homers stick hit fleury's pad

It's my favorite part of this website come playoff time so i thought even tho the wings are out we can photoshop for whatever series. I'll start it off.
-
agreed. It's funny cuz i had read some of the other eulogies that yahoo does and they were like half the length. Someone has just been waiting for years to finally write one of these this early in the playoffs
-
Idk if this is in any other thread or anything, but my favorite call of the series is the penalty shot last night for pavelski, what a joke, just like the rest of the officiating in the series. But yes, the Wings lost it for themselves.
-
I'd rather Draper, at least he doesn't get knocked over all the time and can win faceoffs. Lots of players can do that, Franzen played like the top player in the world two nights ago. and at this i'll take the opportunity to let all see:

You should definately post that video on here as well, i'm curious to see what it's like. And no it is probably not gonnna do anything
