So you get 1,2,3, and 5. 4 = deke (not a shot) 6 = slap shot 7 = ?? baseball? I'm not quite sure 8 = tip (not a shot) 9 = pass 10 = still a backhand, but i could see allowing that one to be loosely called a different shot

I think they found out last night that their best chance is with Hank and Pav split. They need the depth too badly playing such a deep team like Chicago. I also would love to see Tootoo come in for Cleary.

USA Hockey implemented this same rule 2 years ago I think. USA Hockey did it on the campaign of improving the overall skill of young players, without the fear of being hit. I'm not a huge fan of the idea. I see where they are going with it. Safety issues were another big thing for them, as well as the article. One of my biggest concerns honestly comes down to body development. When kids are peewees, you have a majority of kids in the same boat when it comes to puberty. But when you get to Bantams you have some kids who are yet to hit it and more that have. I don't see too many real big kids playing against small kids in peewees, but I see it on almost a gamely basis in bantams. One thing I would like to see before they completely eliminate the hitting, is maybe try to just outlaw open ice hits in peewees. That way the hitting is still there, but taking steps up to full contact.

Why can't this be a thread for people to just vent their frustration with the lack of consistency among suspensions? Who cares if it's due to the fact that a Wing got suspended or not? The fact is, the NHL has been completely inconsistent on the basis of their suspensions. That statement right there has nothing to do with the fact that Abdelkader got suspended. ???? Nothing there? This is the frustrating thing. They let plays like this go without any supplemental discipline. The game is all but over due to the score, and this is just a cheap play, to the head and nothing happens. Garbage NHL, just garbage

So what would the NHL have Kronwall do instead of hitting Voracek? Try to poke check it away? Or just back up and allow them to break out and try to stop it later? In order to take all hits that have to potential to hit the head they will have to take all hitting out. I don't disagree with you, but you should know that your X and Y will never remain constant. When two people are moving there will never be just two options. Edit: things change in the blink of an eye, so it's impossible to line up a hit with 100% certainty of the outcome.

Not trying to sound mean, but have you ever played before? There isn't exactly time to always calculate where you need to hit people and how to adjust due to other people's movements. There are times when a hit to the head is unavoidable, short of not making the hit at all.
