[GDT] 9/26 - Detroit Red Wings @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Cannot blame on Osgood, the Wings did not clear the puck well

I think Filp needs to work on scoring goals. His passing and vision of the ice is good but he does not look good when he can score

The Wings' rookies do not look comfortable. Filppula is probably the one forward that looks to compete well.

This is the first pre-season I watch as a full game. Just turned on few minutes ago and Stuart made same turn over as last season. BTW, the Wings' line up looks really weak tonight. Too many unexperienced rookies on the ice.

Which team do you think will win the champion in MLB?

I agree with you in some parts but isn't Sabathia and Burnett are types of pitchers that you really cannot trust in the playoff? I mean, the career or history is just a record but Burnett does not have any playoff experiene and Sabathia was always playing worse than all people expected. I actually think the Red Sox will win ALCS and for the National League, maybe Cardinals or Dodgers. Just my opinion

Do you think we can win

I am actually not worrying about our offenses. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Cleary, Filppula, and Bertuzzi may be capable and there is Leino too. The thing I am worrying the most about the coming season for the Wings is their defenses. Last year, as Osgood played really god awful during the regular season, our defenses were also extremely poor. Luckily, our experience and some random factors put us in a comparative successful rank in the playoff. On the other hand, it is hard to expect that kind of cycle happens again this year. I do not expect Osgood plays like he did in 07-08 season but I also cannot think he plays horrible again two consecutive season. The one fact I think is, if the Wings are stack to win the cup, they have to fix their defensive problems. If the Wings' defenses play like last year in coming season, I do not see any chance the Wings can even go far in the playoff or gain a good position during the regular season. Wake Up Defenses

    Jimmy Howard

Hello~ this is pre-season. One thing some people forget is the goalie is the position that requires the most time to develop fully. Sure, he has not done many good performance but let's see how he does in the full-regular season with Ozzie. Some people here have such bad temper to bash young players

    Declining interest in hockey-Canada

Hold on, I think the immigration does not affect. I immigrated from Korea and there are many people around me who immigrated to Canada but watch hockey over other sports. Genuinely, the interest of hockey in Canada may decrease due to factors of other sports leagues like CFL and MLB, or even NBA. Because the interest of hockey in Canada is declining, that is not just by the immigration. The peak of interest of hockey was during 90s so it looks the interes went down but I think Canada's hockey interest will not be that down.

Holland confirms that Hudler will play in KHL

well, this is a bit disappointing; looks Hudler went to the KHL for money. I think Holland might throw around 3 million cap number. Still, he has a slight chance to bring back Hudler but I don't see that can happen after the deal is done. I think this off-season is Holland's worst off season with the good top picks in the draft. I said this before but we will make the playoff but not going far. I don't see this team can go thorugh over the 2nd round
  16. FedorovMan91

    So.....Mats Sundin.

I live in Vancouver so I gotta say one: all my friends who are surely the Canucks fans disliked Sundin. He gets 5.6 cap million but what he really looks to do was faceoff. Other than that, he was freaking overpaid. He is a future hall of famer but he is not fit to the Wings who make the forwards to play defense hardly.

Wings will be a better team in 09/10

No one knows the future. Before 06-07 season, everyone said the Wings would be horrible but they even played better than the team between 03-06. Here is my thought and I am being honest, but the Wings will be worse. 1) Osgood and Howard He was great in the playoff but I am not confident in him at all. I still remember his crappy regular season performance. Surely, I think he will play better than he did last season but he still scares me. I think Howard can be a good goalie but he will be criticized a lot next season. I don't see he can do that well, he needs time 2) Rookie As Hossa and Sammy are gone, our depth surely went down. Leino and Helm will surely come up but they have zero experience factor. 3) Defense This year, the Wings' defense was crap. I mean, we could not win the game unless the offenses put up somewhat five or six goals. I don't know how the Wings defense turned around in the playoff but as they are getting older, we might need change. That is Ericsson but it will be his first full regular season. I am not confiden at all for the next season. The Wings will be lucky if they can defend the division title well. The Hawks are younger, which means better for such a long regular season even though their goaltending is week. I don't expect much for the next season. We need one season or two seasons for the rookies to develop their skills in the NHL. I just hope the Wings can finish with 50 wins or top 3.

Is Chicago buying their chance now?

It depends on how Campbell does. He was a good defense until the year of the Sharks but since he came to the Hawks, he was booed sometimes and his performance was actually very disappointing to watch. For the Hawks team, I think they have a better chance while they have a worse chance. Both Kane and Toews make some experience and they will be better nextseason. However, because Hossa went to the Hawks, it does not make them stronger because Hossa is a player who just replaces the spot of Havlet. Moreover, Hawks goaltending is probably one of the weakest goaltending in the NHL. Huet is not a goalie you trust whole season and there is no goalie in the league Hawks hardly look to purchase. No one knows what happens. Before last season, everyone said the Bolts would be good but they were no different. Same for the Wings in 06-07 season. Who expected them to do that well with the retirement of Yzerman and movement of Shanahan? The roster changes a situation but what all matters is how they can work together

    OFFICIAL: 12y, $62.4m makes Hossa a 'Hawk

I am not getting emotional here. I think it is better Hossa just left. People forget one thing: Draper, Maltby, and Homer will not be that effective as we remeber as they were 7 or 8 years ago. We have to develop players who are young, Leino, Hudler, Filppula, Helm, etc. Because Hossa was in this team, Babcock tried too many line combos which resulted no strength from the set lines. Besides, Filppula was on the 3rd liner in which means he does not get much of ice time. I personally want to see Hudler to stay here. His size can cause some problems but I think his puck handling is good enough to be the 2nd liner in this team. For the Hawks, I think they have better chances than the last year but here is one thing I have no fear against the Hawks: no goaltending, no guaranteed D-man. Khabbibulin left to the Oilers and Huet sucks for sure. Campbell was booed, Seabrook etc.. not very scary. Other than that, the Wings D and Goaltendings should be ready for the next season. This regular season was the worst regular season I have ever watched the Wings to play

Let's Hudler walk & sign Cammalleri

People play too much NHL Fantasy

Better overall core of defensemen - Flames or Wings?

Some people forget one thing: Bouwmeester is far better than Phaneuf. Besides, while the Wings' 2nd and 3rd line D-Pairs can stand up against other team's top 2 lines, the Flames 3rd pair cannot do this. For Phaneuf, he was the most overrated player accoring to the survery with Spezza. His playng in first 2 years was impressive but he is the player without any development. Besides, I believe Bouwmeester is a great young D-man but I am not going to state anything about him in either in a bad way or good way because this deal reminds me the deal of Campbell. For sure, Bouwmeester's defensive skill must be better than Campbell but every player has an open opportunity to be the garbage compared to the cap hit
  22. FedorovMan91

    Bouwmeester signs with Calgary

Calgary looks to spend much money on particular players: Iginla, Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Langkow, Regehr, and Jokinen. These players eat up 7, 5.25, 4.5, 6.6, 6.5, 4.02; not in orde though. If you ad all those number, 33.87 cap number. Looks the Flames will be the power house in NW Division over Canucks

    Wings won't bring Conklin back

Conks was good for us throughout the season. Too bad he did not win the cup with us. Best luck to him wherever he goes to. He was our number one goaltender in the regular season. I agree with the upper poster. I am actually scared of Osgood who had the worst regular season in his career. I am not seeing a huge improvement from him; just hope he does not play as he did in 08-09 season.
