Holland: Defense is set, waiting for cap figure
FedorovMan91 replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
Again and again, I know Hossa did not perform as much as many of us expected in the playoff. Let's say he sucked throughout the playoff. This thread is almost becoming 'Hossa sucks thread'. Ok, then, when are we going to see 'Holmstrom Sucks', or 'Kronwall sucks' thread in the forum? Seriously guys, Hossa might underperform but that is not the reason we lost. Many of the Wings had underperformed in this regular season and the playoff. Regular season- Kronwall, Stuart, Rafalski, Zetterberg, Filppula, Maltby, Draper, Osgood Playoff- Kronwall, Rafalski, Kopecky, Ericsson, Hudler, Samuelsson, Holmstrom Some of you guys look to blame Hossa by the number of points. Well, the point is important but his play was at least decent. If you guys still say he sucks in the playoff, I would not mind to put Datsyuk in the least of this year playoff underperfomer. -
The most classless fans in the NHL Vancouver Canucks, End of a story.

I don't see us we get JB this off-season or soon because Kenny will never trade Kronwall. I think we have to see next season and decide how genuinely good both Stuart and Kronwall are. Also see how Ericsson can do. To answer for the young 5 D-man in the league at this point: 1.Phaneuf 2.Weber 3.Bouwmeester Except for those three, I don't see any more dominant young D men in the league.

Holland: Defense is set, waiting for cap figure
FedorovMan91 replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
Holland will proably get him in the off-season. And he is RFA, so we have the first responsibility to get a contract with him -
I don't see how the Wings will go to the Final again next year. Probably after 2 years from now, I think we can go. Lidstrom is coming to the end of his career and Osgood is going to retire soon too. We may need a serious surgery to make the Wings being the best team in the league. Osgood-> Howard or Larsson Lidstrom-> Ericsson Rafalski-> Bouwmeester ( I hope this happens...) Draper-> Helm Hudler-> Leino I think the worst cap situation right now is the Senators. Their top 3 forwards: Alfie, Spezza, Heater, eat up around 20 million cap per year. So easy to shut down one line team. In the past, they sent away Comrie. For Pittsburgh, little bit different but I think they will be in a big hole too. Malkin, Staal, and Crosby eat up around 22.5 million cap per year. Besides, Gonchar's prime is probably gonna end next year.

I think losing Hudler and Samuelsson will not hurt that much. If Leino comes up to the Wings full season roster next season, he can fill out Hudler and Helm and Abdelkader can play for the full season I think. For Hossa, it would be great if he wins the cup with us but if he asks around 6 million, I am not going to pay that much of money for him. If he can take around 4.5 to 5 million, that would be fine. As one poster said above, we cannot trade Rafalski and Stuart because both have NTC in their optional contract sheet. The line I am looking for the next season is: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Filppula-Franzen-? Leino-?-Helm Draper-Maltby-Abdelkader ?= whether you put Holmstrom or not; he has been terrible from the start to the end of a season. If he does not have NTC, we probably better trade him. Wait a minute, I have a question for the defense Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lilja If Chellios retires, which I hope, and who is going to be healthy scratched player with Lebda? Meech? -
I will cry if Sundin comes to the Wings. Did you guys notice anything about Sundin in the playoff? He does the faceoff and goes back to the bench. That was all he has done and that is why many of Canucks fans hated
-
why not grab some playoff style defensemen?
FedorovMan91 replied to Kronthewall55's topic in General
Well, we cannot change it because Nick, Kronwall, Ericsson are locked up and both Rafalski and Stuart have NTC so they will not waive up. For this season, all our D-men spent probably the worst regular season. Our Goals average against was almost 3.00, which you will never see the Wings do that again. The problem in the regular season was both goaltending and D were terrible. For my thought, I don't want to re-sign Hossa. It is not I hate him but I just have a feeling it would be bad. By the way, before blaming Hossa, I wonder if there is any thread criticize Rafalski and Kronwall. -
Well, I feel bad for every Wings player. I wonder how Nick got two main physical injuries
-
I think Stuart played great before the Finals. In the Finals, however, he played really bad and in the game 7, he was horrible. However, the Wings lost as a team, not just by Stuart. In the series against the Jackets, he was a huge factor we won as we needed him in the Ducks series and the Hawks series. I was mad at Stuart but I still have a belief on every Wings although we have to make some changes in this off-season. To end, blaming Stuart is fine but his turnover is not the ONLY reason why the Wings lost in the game 7.
-
I am going to leave Hossa until he speaks something. However, I will be sad if we re-sign Samuelsson and Hudler. Hudler had a great first half of the season but at the end, his consistency has been appeared as usual. Samuelsson, who is blamed hard every day, has to be gone. He pretty much screwed up our PP although he scored some big goals. The guy I want to get at this point is one tough cetner and one tough Wing. The Wings' third liners were atrocious on the ice throughout the ice especially against the Ducks; gets robbed all over the ice. I agree with Herr Hockey that it will be good to sign for Ian Lapierre but we have to fix some defensive core. I do not know how much it will cost Bouwmeester but I think he can play great on the Wings system. Besides, I think it is time for the old guys to go except for Nick. Holmstrom, Chellios, Maltby, and Draper have to be gone. I am concerned about Osgood too. He was amazing in this playoff as the last season but that does not change his poor play in the regular season. He will stay here and I like it but if Howard and Larsson do not perform enough well, we will need a goalie change as well
-
Well, I like Rafalski's first season in the Wings, just one year ago we won the Cup. This season, his play looked horribly lost. He did not clear the puck that well, he lost the puck on the back of the net which costed us throughout the series. The list I mentioned above is just the list I want to get. I agree that the Sens will let Volchenkov to go. But I think Hainsey can be a good fit to the Wings
-
I do not have much knowledge of the salary chart and the each option the Wings' players signed on but I gotta say some of it, hopefully people can understand my English again. Thank you guys. Players who will stay for sure: Datsyuk-> 6.7 million cap number Filppula-> 3.0 million cap number Cleary-> 2.8 million cap number Zetterberg-> 6.08 million cap number Franzen-> 3.95 million cap number Helm-> 0.60 million cap number (suppose he would run for the whole season) Leino-> worthed 0.875 million, think we have to re-sign with him around 1 or 1.5 Draper-> 1.583 million, liability whole season but don't see us trade or let him go Maltby-> 0.883 million, same with Draper Total: 27.096 million cap number Lidstrom-> 7.45 million cap number Ericsson-> 0.9 million cap number(suppose he would run for the whole season) Lilja-> 1.250 million cap number(Get well soon) Kronwall-> 3 million cap number(Don't see us we let him go, I think we will see one more year of him to decide) Total: 12.6 million cap number Osgood-> 1.417 cap number Howard-> 0.72 cap number Total: 2.137 cap number The cap we can use if we use trade: 14.867 million Don't have much knowledge of the players' NTC but here is the list I want to trade from the team or let go Holmstrom-> 2.25 million cap number Hossa-> 7.45 million cap number Hudler-> 1.015 million cap number Samuelsson-> 1.2 million cap number Chellios-> 0.75 million cap number Rafalski-> 6.0 million cap number Stuart-> 3.75 million cap number Conklin-> 0.75 million cap number Lebda-> 0.65 million cap number Kopecky-> 5.00 million cap number I do not know I am the only one who wants Holmstrom to go and I love Holmstrom still but he has to go. I was highly disappointed at him; he cannot control the puck, no good screen, no deflection, too weak to play for the full season, etc. The list I want the Wings to get if it is possibile: Mike Cammalleri: worthed 3.35 million, I think we can sign him fro 6 million or less; the disadvatange of getting him is his defensive play is not that good much his offensive ability is great. Ron Hainsey: If we can trade Rafalski or Stuart to Atlanta, we can get him. He has a long term contract left and his cap number is 4.5 million Jay Bouwmeester: 4.875 million cap number, but think he will ask around 5.5 million cap number according to his reputation. I hope we get either Hainsey or Bouwmeester. Shea Weber: 4.5 million cap number, he is RFA, don't know how this will affect about the trade but he can be a good fit too. Anton Volchenkov: 2.5 million cap number, he is 26 years old. Saw some of his play, not impressive as the defensive play but offensive play look a bit good. Probably the least favorite player I want to see the Wings to get in the off-season from my list Tomas Kaberle: 4.250 million cap number, the Leafs have a chance to sell their players. Burke said he wants to rebuild the Leafs by young players. Any chance? Pavel Kubina: 5.00 million cap number, same with Kaberle Nick Antropov: 2.05 million cap number, think he has a good passing skill. Just my opinion. Comment please guys

Here is my thought. I think we should let Hudler, Samuelsson, Hossa just gone. I am sad but this off-season will be freaking important. The next will be Nick's last season unless he re-signs with us again. Then, we should consider about any players who can replace his spot. As people mentioned above, Jay Bouwmeester would be a great fit instead of Rafalski. The deal is many teams want him and we do not have to freak out to sign with him by an overpayment. I do not konw manything about the each option of each player in the Red Wings but if we can, I highly want to see Holmstrom gets traded. The loyalty matters all the time but I am very disappointed at him. He is slow, he cannot deflect the puck, he is too weak to spend the most of the regular season, his stick handling is horrible. Same with Chellios. He cannot play anymore. I think the next season will be seriously hard for the Wings. Leino, Helm, Abdelkader, Ericsson will proably not perform that well next season as the full regular season as they step into the game. To replace Ozzie, Larsson and Howard have to show their potential level. We are not going to rebuild the team from the bottom to the top but we need a change because the Champ even needs a change
-
I thought one guy who can come to the Wings. People may disagree but what about Michael Camalleri(do not spell right I think but in the Flames). This guy is young and I think he has a potential to be a good player. Any thought?

The big issue can be Osgood at this moment. Osgood has had a great playoff performance but that cannot directly mention he will play great in the next regular season. I really want to get going our two rookie goalies: Larsson and Howard and see how well they can perform. I think Kenny has to keep the Wings from getting older. The best thing we can do for the next season is that keeping the main core: Lidstrom, Rafalski, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Ericsson, Cleary, Kronwall, and Filppula for sure. These guys will stay here. Then, the puzzle is left. Hossa, Hudler, Conklin, Samuelsson, Draper, Maltby, Kopecky, Stuart, and Chellios. To start Chellios- should be gone, too old to play Samuelsson- not much against him but he is the worst puck controller, he is gone Hudler- great first half of the season but since, not much. Question mark Stuart- Horrible regular season, horrible last game. Chance to stay, we will see Draper- Except for the faceoff, liability Maltby- One of my favorite Wings but he has to retire, too sloppy play in the RS Hossa- good regular season but in the playoff, disappeared. If he can take less than 5 million, stay, more than 5, no way Conklin- I do not know

It was a fun season to watch. Too sad we did not end this one with the cup but this can motivated our guys highly for the next season. Don't forget the Wings are still the best team in the league for last 15 years. People who whine the Wings after the lose remind me the Canucks fans who throw the trash on the ice after the lose. Let's stay classy and congrats toward the Pens

My second topic today(wow, I am addicted in this site) It was the sad way to end this series but I really enjoyed the playoff. Especially this final and the game against the Ducks in the 2nd round. Besides, Ericsson, Helm, Abdelkader, Leino, and some other young guys showed that they can play as the Red Wings in the full regular season. I do not know what was wrong with the Wings during the regular season but be honest, I have highly enjoyed the playoff series and I am not feeling that bad. The Pens were just better team in tonight's game and they well deserved it. The reason we do not have to be super sad is there is a next year. Moreover, how many teams can you think the teams better than the Wings in last 15 years? None 4 Cups, 6 stanley cup challenge, win the most conference champ and the division champ. I wonder how people cannot be proud of the Wings if they follow the Wings. Just end the topic, one my national soccer team coach stated this after the lost: the reporter asked the coach that whether the coach is sad or disappointed and the coach said he is so disappointed and sad. However, the coach answered this: he was happy about the lost after few minutes of the last second because he knew there would be a next year and it can motivated his players to play for the champ next year. There will no consistent winner in the world guys. Let's appreciated the good season for the Wings and don't forget there are 29 teams who envy the success of the Red Wings in last decade or more.

I am really mad right now. I am speechless. I am crying a bit right now. The bottom line, the Wings did not deserve to win this game because they felt the sense of emergency too late I think. However, we still have to remember that the Wings have been the best team since 1995. I am gonna continue to follow the Wings no matter how they do. Be honest, I have been a moron in this game and blamed ref and whined the Wings players. If we look back the season, it was probably the worst regular season for the Wings that we will ever have watched. We had around only 15 good games and the rest of games were terrible. But, I appreciated for the Wings. Many people said the Wings would not make the final because of the goaltending, PK, and no hunger. I think no hunger hurts us in the last game but seriously, I do not say we fail in this season. It was fun to watch the new guy like Hossa and Conklin and best luck to them wherever they reach after this season. I hope we can be with them in the future too. Go Wings Go!!

It was a great season, and don't forget we are the Red Wings. We still have more years to go. Just feel bad for Hossa
-
I am going to cry..
-
Time to pull out Ozzie, we don't have time. Do or die
-
The Wings, please, f*** please score a goal
-
I hope the Wings can do this in the rest of the game
-
I am really curious how the Wings play like this. Yeah, we have won too many championships but this is the last game of the season.
