I believe in the Wings. Time to defend our Cup
-
Last game of the season. Get all or get none. Everything is up to the game. I believe the Wings until the last second. Let's go Red Wings!
-
One more post, let's win this game Go wings go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I mentioned before but I just want to say this one: the Wings have to score the first goal tomorrow. Throughout the series, the Pens scored the first goal 4 times while the Wings scored the first goal 2 times. It was good to see us to come back from the 1-0 deficit to 3-1 win in game 2 but this time, we have to score the first goal. As much as I watched game four and six, the slow start of the Wings cost us to lose the game. That could be the reason that the Wings laid back by satisfying the series lead but this is the do or die game. The Wings should wake up and play full effort for full game tomorrow. If we allow the first goal again, we will play too desperately and can make us not playing efficiently. However, if the Wings score first tomorrow, I think the Wings will win the cup. It was not only a goal but the Wings took some meaningless penalties game after game. This is the last game of the Final, not regular season or some other series. The Wings have to be motivated and come out to play with their full potential level. Any thought?

Do or die All or none We believe in the Wings. I believe in the Wings. Let's defend our Stanley Cup. Go Wings Go!

I am surprised people still post on this thread. I agree with the group of referee call on favor of Penguins but that is not the major reason why we lost in game 6. Find the truth. The Wings deserved nothing from game 6 because they thought the series was over. Besides, there are some non-calls the Penguins do not get from the referee. I am mad when the ref does not call the obvious penalties. I also agree with Nidermayer and Malkin had to receive suspensions from the NHL but we all knew what would happen because the NHL wants to keep the stars in the game. Let's forget everything and play perfect game on Friday
-
Last season since the start of the 2nd round: the Wings scored first in 9 games out of 16 games. This season since the start of the 2nd round: the Wings scored first in 7 times out of 18 games. The previous season, we scored the early goal and kept the lead. This playoff, we trail back and chase the opponent. The stat is meaningless but we really have to score first on friday because if we trail back again, the Wings will be in a big hole

I think what make people frustrated and disappointed at Hossa is not his scoring sheet. He stayed in the Pens last summer and did not win the Cup. He thought the Wings are the best team to win the Cup so he came here with the less money the Pens suggested. I am not whining but I do not think he is playing excellent defense. His backchecking does not look efficient, and when he is on the ice, I do not feel comfortable. In addition, I think Hossa is trying too much by himself. He does not use his line mates perfectly. The result is Franzen and Filppula could not do that much in game 6 while Hossa looked to play as a team in game 5. I was emotional yesterday so I settled down my mind but Hossa has to make magnificient plays on Friday because he came here to win the Cup but he does not look enough good to win the cup regardless of his condition or injury status

How can anyone blame the Refs for any of the Wings' losses?
FedorovMan91 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Just my opinion but I think the early penalty does matter to the game whether it is converted or not. Last night, the Wings play better in the beginning of the 1st period than the 1st period after 5 or 6 minutes. Jordan Staal pushed Zetterberg and we got an interference goal. As a result, Pens did not score on the PP but that took away our momentum. To forget this, the Wings play very bad. Babcock just looked forward to the safe line change, no forecheck, no heart, horrible offense and defense. -
I hope the stats prove the Wings with the cup. The picture in front of us now, however, is not that. The statistics is totally meaningless at this point because the ONE GAME will decide all or not. The fact I realized: Pens is not two men team. I thought they were but JS killed us in Mellon Arena. The Wings should not forget this. Babcock looks to focus on shutting down only Malkin and Crosby but the Wings have to shut down ALL PENGUINS. The point to go into game 7 1. Score first goal 2. No unnecessary penalty. 3. Forecheck 4. No turnover The most important thing I think it would be the first goal. We used to trail back the Pens each game but this game, we should score first.

To Pens fans, the game 5, Pens deserved many penalties. Crosby slashed Zetterberg, Kunitz interferred the Wings, Malkin elbowed Franzen, and so many others. It is so easy to get frustrated and I believe Pens fans know penalties were deserved. Yesterday, I think the ref made some bad calls like the first penalty. However, I think the Pens played far better than the Wings in game 6. I am the one who think the NHL has the worst referee system in professional sports. Congrats to you guys win in game 6 and let's see in game 7.
-
This kind of thread is really meaningless because the wings got screwed up by the red but they did not deserve to win game 6; I just want to hear the thread that blame the wings' own play
-
Same pattern after the loss whine the ref> where is the thread to blame the garbage O and D?
-
We cannot blame the ref unless it is Dan O'Halloran
-
Well, if then, the Pens will win the cup. The thing I do not understand is Hossa does not look good to win the cup. He came here to win the Cup, not getting knocked down all over the ice. Truth on the picture now, Hossa has to wake up and do something to win the Cup. He must have more time to win the cup in the future but for him, I highly doubt there would be any better chance to win the cup than now.

I just posted the Wings have no sense of urgency and play flat. I still like our chances to win on friday and lift the cup in front of the home crowd. To begin, I think the Pens were far better in game 4 and 6. What I have been confuising is that the Wings' lost is from their laziness or being outplayed. From fans' views, it surely looks the Wings do not show up or play lazy butI think the Pens were just better teams in game 4 and 6. I have not been a hockey fan as much as you guys but here is the wish list I want from the Wings in game 7: 1) Score first In the series against the Jackets, we always scored first. The situation when you trail back and when you lead by a goal or more are totally different. Since the start of the Ducks' series, we have played 18 games. In those 18 games, we scored the first goal 7 times but allowed a goal 11 times. Previously, it was acceptable because we still had more ways to go. However, on friday game 7, I think we have to score first. If I see the Pens team, they are young so they ride into the momentum quicker than we do. We are more likely veteran teams so I think it is necessary for us to score first and play the hockey with the leading, not by trailing. 2) PP units Last season, our PP 1st unit was Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom with Lidstrom-Rafalski. The thing I liked in the change was Cleary came into the line because Holmstrom has been invisible for the playoff. However, the thing I do not like is the presence of Samuelsson on the point of the defense. If I remember correctly, Babcock uses Samuelsson on the PP shift time as the defense. Surely, his right handed stick must help the PP situation but he never scored PP in this playoff if I remember correctly. I think putting Lebda over Ericsson is better also because Ericsson does not look comfortable on PP units; he does not control the puck from the board well but Lebda looks better than him. 3) Forecheck We are the puck possession team so we do not have forechecks as the team plays dump and chase style but more forechecks directly means you can make a pressure on other teams to turn over the puck or give away the puck. In game 6, the Wings have done no forecheck. Helm was the only guy who looked to go out and hit the body and played physical forechecking. 4) Hossa I have been waiting for this guy to step up and make a statement he chose the right team. So far in this series, what has he done? I am not complaining his points paper, goal paper, assist paper, or the other. He does not pass the puck. Same pattern every game. Drives the puck behind the net and gets knocked down by the Pens' defense. I am not bringing up the thread of bashing Europeans players. Some are tough, some are soft, depends on players. But he looks try to do too much by himself. Is it a pressure or what? Again, I am not bashing anything but my opinions. Hopefully LGW members will post more on my thread
-
I agree the stats are meaningless. If the Wings play game 7 like they did in game 5, they will win. But if the Wings bring up the effort did in game 6, I will be sad for 3 months
-
Hossa has sucked pretty much throughout the playoff except for three game 4 in previous serieses against the Ducks, Hawks, and the Jackets. I was mad at Osgood's regular season performance but the time is different: this is the playoff. If the player does not perform good enough, then it has to be a negative issue.
-
I do not want to say negtative solely on one player but seriously, Hossa is doing NOTHING. I was happy until the series of the Ducks and the Hawks because he scored two goals in game 4 for each series (same with the series against the Jackets) but his ability to score goals have been nowhere in this series. He made some points(single or plural or whatever) but that does not prove he deserves 7.45 million per year in this team. He left the Pens to win the Cup with the Wings by taking a discount but he shows up only this. I know other players were bad tonight. Filppula, Franzen, Datsyuk, Rafalski, Ericsson, Kronwall, etc.. but we cannot compare Hossa to most of the Wings players because he is the most expensive offense in our salary chart this season. If he desires to win the Cup, he should stop saying what he wants, but he has to show by the performance.
-
I don't care how the things go. The Wings seriously have to win this game. Get all or get none. Up to them. Go Wings
-
Gotta start my topic first time as the LGW member and some people may have a hard time to understand my English but hopefully people can understand the idea of my post As in game 6 in both series against the Ducks and the Pens, the Wings look exactly same. They played like a garbage, they did not feel of urgency, they looked flat, no traffic, no forecheck, PP failed. I do not see any problem in our line combo. Changing line combo can be either way: going totally in a negative way, or going totally in a positive way. By that, I think our line combo is fine. Some people suggest to put back ZDH line but that would be the bad idea because Holmstrom is doing nothing effective. I am not complaining Holmstrom is right there. The bottom line is that, I am really mad at the Wings because they do not show up when they are up. Like game 5, we went into the game by losing two straight games and the Wings felt the urgency and destroyed the Pens. But as I expected, the Wings came out so flat and did not deserve to win the game again. Any thought?
-
Well, I understand Jordan Stall had to get 2 penalties on the board in the 1st and 2nd period and some Pens interferred Stuart but the Wings did not show up to play hard. They were outshot, they were outplayed, they were lazy.. End of a story. The postive I can take 1) Wings have experience in many of game 7 2) Sense of urgency 3) Crowd Go Wings
-
Well, the pressure is on both side but the positive thing I can think about: 1. We have the crowd on our back; huge boost 2. Line matching, Babcock, seriously, stop thinking about the line change that much but play the puck possession game, no dump and chase game anymore 3. Wings may feel the sense of urgency; if they don't, who are they going to blame? Themselves. This is the last game
-
I just wonder why people bash Rafalski. Surely, he has been the defensive liability sometimes but where is the thread that bashes Ericsson? Everyone knows who is far worse
-
I am not bashing you but I wonder what game you were watching. The WIngs came out with a lot of fire? No way. The Wings made only 3 shots on MAF while they were outshot by something around 10. That is the story. Their laziness costs the first goal early in the 2nd period and got owned throughout the game. Besides, I hated the official tonight but the Wings did not deserve to win this game. They looked very lost, crashed each other, no traffic, no good backcheck, invisible forecheck, dumb penalties, etc..
