This^^ I mean, the defensive issue still there, goaltending issue, the PK issue. The Wings will make the playoff but this is extremely disappointing performance compared to our expectation even though I believed the Wings would not be as good as few seasons ago for this season. Gotta be interesting. If the Wings D and goalies play terrible again this year while our offeses look weaker than last year, this will be a painful season.

I do not know this is goaltending issue or defense issue. What I have also seen is Datsyuk is not working well with Franzen and Holmstrom. Be honest, as far as I love Holmstrom throughtout his career, he has to move out from top 6 forwards. I do not know why Babcock keep separating Datsyuk and Zetterberg. I believe Franzen and Filppula can work out well each other too. Besides, I don't think our defenses were terrible as last season but Stuart showed no improvement and Lebda was god awful as usual. It is only two games but the goaltending does not look strong to me. The biggest problem is horrible PK. When we were called as playoff choke team few years ago, our special team was still strong and 07-08 season, I thought we would kill most of penalties against even strong teams. Now, if I see the PK time comes up, I am just too nervous. Hope the problems can be fixed in a short time

I am not being paniced or being shocked. What I am saying is either defense or goalie should be good to win the game. It has been more than a year the Wings D and goalie show a terrible performance together.

Then, apply this principle to whole other teams. This is a professional sport and the players SHOULD play hard to win the game. The Blues were just better teams than the Wings since the 2nd period. Same trend as yesterday. It is not Blues should be hungry while te Wings are not. If what you are saying is the correct case, the Wings' players should be punched to wake up

Again, let me state one thing. It is only two games into the season and we still need to watch at least 8 more games to find out where this team is. However, it can be considered as only two games in one way but it can be considered as this trend will continue until the end of a season. What I have seen from last season and what I have seen from this season's two games are no different. To be a successful team in the season, the team needs to know how to keep the lead. To achieve that, it is unavoidble that either your defenses or goalie should be on fire. At this point till, the Wings have neither. Goalies suck and Stuart, Lebda are just big holes. Besides, that awful PK has not been fixed yet. Now, our star players do not work well either. Also, PP looks inaccurate. When the season started last year, even though the defenses were just terrible, we still believed the Wings would get back its own form because we still had a long way to go. Now what? 1 year? I mean, no one in this board is in panic except for bandwagons. However, seriously, how long does this team need more to fix defensive issues and goalie issues? Besides, one comment OP made is also correct. I am not saying in a negative way but some people are too optimistic about this team. Since this team has been the most successful team in all professional sports leagues for around last 15 years, some people are still in feeling that the Wings will do good whatever happens. In fact, this season looks far tougher than the 06-07 season, which many people doubt the success of the Wings. Anyway, let's see what happens for next 8 games

I do not think Larsson is necessarily looking better than Howard. What I have seen through the game is before the game is tied in 2-2, Howard played pretty well. But suddenly defenses collide down, the rookie goalie automatically got killed. I hope this is only one game but this is almost the same start as last season. Allowing 4 or 5 goals and need numerous goals to win one game

It will be funny some optimists come after the game and say again the Wings did not show up. This is the level of position the Wings are at. Quite funny some people say the Wings did not show up or were not playing with full effort when the Wings lost. The Blues actually deserve a win

Howard kind had to make the save for the 2nd goal but our defenses were terrible as last year. Cannot clear the puck, look extremely confused in front of the net.

Our pk is atrocious, nothing has changed from last year. The worst player during these two games is Stuart. God awful performance after leading the game

Mason is why Blues won? During the 2nd period, the Wings neutral zone was absolutely crushed by the Blues. Overall, the Wings played like a last season. Getting good momentum in the beginning but absolutely look lost out there since the mid of 2nd period. There will be no guarantee the Wings will keep the first spot in the Central division. As Babcock said last season, the Central division is no cake for the Wings anymore.
