  1. Don't know whether some people still remember the interview babs made after lose to Nashville few years ago. He indirectly talked to the organization, especially Holland, that the team needs more offences with grits and sizes. Does not have to 1st liners but who can perform in big times like playoffs. Between the time and today, there has been no prominent help from Holland to Babs to structure the team in the way he wanted. Instead, what he got was a group of players whose prime was already over. I do not think it is a matter of money for babs decision. He seems to be tired of the lack of winning legacy in detroit.

Personally, babs will not make decision very soon even after the end of the final. Think he will see how Holland moves pieces that can make this team as a legitimate contender. If not, Babs will walk away. I hope this time can be a final waking-up call for Holland, who has been failing every season in the field of getting right players.

  2. After losing to the pens, we had a chance to decide between Franzen and Hossa. I remember people favorite Franzen over Hossa based on playoff performance. Upon that moment, Franzen was known as the playoff beast, especially during the run to the Stanley Cup in 2008. That is why people did not care of his regular season performance even with 4 mil cap hit. For last 3 years, however, Franzen has underperformed both in regular season and playoffs. That is why people criticize his contract. We do not expect him to perform like Pavel or Henrik. But he should score some BIG goals at the RIGHT time. He is very inconsistent without a doubt and he is aging. Without dealing Franzen and old guys, I do not see this team being closer to cup contenders.

  3. Winning the best of seven series against either of Pens or Bruins seems more challenging than the last year when faced the Ducks. Considering how they played in recent playoffs, playing against the Pens would slightly raise our chance to pass the first round than confronting the Bruins. We have seen that the record in the regular season does not tell the whole story. Yeah, we have played against the Bruins well but we all know how strong they can be during the playoffs. I just do not see our rookies and depth at the both ends take their physical plays armed with size and speed.

I do not want to act pessimistic but our chance is not big for sure. Still, I want the Wings to prove me wrong. But we should not forget Howard was magnificent last year while both Gus and Howie look shaky this season. To be honest, I am quite satisfied that our kids have put this team into the playoff despite of continuous injuries. The playoff will be another task but lets hope they can give a great shot.
