Forgive me my stupidity, but I don't think he's worth two cents, much less two mil. It still stinks of hypocrisy. If you want to lean towards a youth movement, be my guest, but then you don't turn around and sign a has-been like Jagr. I'm sorry, but I don't see the benefit of signing this yahoo. Why don't you talk Cheli out of retirement while you're at it - you'd at least get something for your money with him.
-
Okay, let me get this straight in my head. You don't want Ozzie and Drapes back because you think they are too old, but yet you want to sign Jagr??? Excuse me, but isn't that a little hypocritical??? This is a plural "you" by the by...not directed at any one person. But I don't understand the thinking behind this.

It's more a matter of fans being a bunch of arrogant jackasses. Proof in point, rioting after the game the other night. I know a lot of it wasn't real fans of the team, but damn, did you have to go and do that s*** and not only make your city look bad, but hockey fans in general??? I mean, come on, 100 people arrested, 150 taken to hospital for injuries - really, is that what you want people to remember about your team and its fans?
-
Not only is this a resounding "NO", it is a totally emphatic "Oh hell, f**king NO!" He should pay US to play here, not the other way around.
-
Let's face it, Pasha has spoiled us rotten...and we love it.
-
The reason I said I might be biased is because I talk to Mark every year at training camp in TC, and he's a really nice guy. I like talking to him and he's always been willing to sit and talk to us as well. So what can I say?
-
A double dip into the Hall, eh, Mick??? Good on ya!
-
Mark Howe, definitely. I'm biased, I know, but he should go in. The rest, looking pretty paltry, if you ask me.
-
Now that's a nice thought. Stu Grimson has the background of playing, and also the smarts, to pull it off. He'd make Buttman look like a nursery school teacher.
-
My heart tells me he will return.

Oh we could only hope...

My dog can play better defense than Kaberle. This is not just a "no" vote, it's more like a "HELL NO!" vote.

Boston deserves this one. My housemate is in heaven, because she's been a B's fan for eons. I hope they bring it back to an Original Six team again. It's been pretty neat to have an O6 team win two of the last three Cups. Let's hope Boston makes it 3 of 4. GO BRUINS!!!!! Oh yeah, there is one other thing...bears love to eat fish.

You do have a point there.

I still think the "Mooterus" jersey in Dallas takes the cake. It looked like a diagram you'd see hanging in the offices of an OB/GYN. Absolutely hideous. Then again, there were those striped nightmares that Montreal dug out of mothballs for their 100th anniversary. Technicolor versions of the costumes from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Could cause seizures in a heartbeat. My housemate said the "Pooh Bear" jerseys in Boston. I'll go along with that one.

Proof once again that you need to be careful what you wish for. Didn't learn, did ya, idiot?
-
You can't even have your pets loose in the back of a truck like that. And yes, I know that's mean, but damn, people, you should know better!
-
Pavel Datsyuk. Class personified. Nick and Gordie Howe come close, but Pasha has more class in his toenails than 99.9% of the league.

It's not official with Rafi yet. But it will be an end of an era indeed when these guys hang them up. You can bet we'll not see their likes again.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
Kira replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Well, this certainly throws a monkey wrench into things doesn't it? To those of you who are all fired up about Brendan Smith, he's not ready yet. He needs some more seasoning. Another year or two in GR will do him a lot of good. Who do we sign? Depends on who wants it bad enough to sign for the right price. I'm not sure I really want another Markov, and Kaberle is not the answer either. Truth be known, I'd rather have Andreas Lilja back than Kaberle. But that's just me. If this is true, then thank you, Brian, for everything. A class act indeed. -
Cali, I could not have said it better myself. I have a husband who is a chronic pain sufferer. His comes from degenerative arthritis and migraine headaches primarily. He cannot take vicodin (makes him itchy beyond belief), so his doctor put him on Percoset. It comes with bright yellow labels on it warning NOT to even think about drinking while taking it. He doesn't have to take it every day (thank God), but he knows enough not to even think about mixing the two. My doctor gave me a prescription for vicodin for pain in my knees and back. But I don't take that every day, and I very rarely drink anything. But we might be exceptions to a dangerous rule. People, you can't mix this stuff - IT WILL KILL YOU. Honest to God, it will. What a waste for Derek...I had hoped it would be something more than a foolish mixing of drugs and alcohol.

1) That is kind of a given. 2) That is just too egotistical. 3) If I wasn't going to a game played by team x, why would I wear their jersey to any other game but theirs? 4) Never buy cotton candy. PERIOD. That is just nasty s***. 5) Hear hear...my other half is in a wheelchair at games and to have people stand up in front of him during the game is just downright rude. He'd like to see what's going on too. 6) Doesn't work. My housemate grew up in North Carolina and is a die hard Boston fan. And "ROTTING" for a team??? Me thinks there is a typo at work? 7) Again, ain't necessarily so. I'm not within a day's driving distance of your team (no offense), but I hate them with a passion. 8) I wouldn't throw anything on the ice...can't afford to. 9) AMEN!!! 10) Right now, I have to cheer for Boston, but it's because I want to keep peace with my housemate.

With the size he was I wonder if there was an underlying heart condition, kinda like Jiri Fischer's case? I don't pretend to know, and I'll be interested in the autopsy results. But I do like the fact that his family has asked that donations be made to help military families. That's very classy.

Which conference would you rather have the Wings in?
Kira replied to weGotTheCup89's topic in General
I vote for the East. I'm getting sick and tired of having to sit up til 1AM watching games from the west coast. If we moved East, we could definitely show those teams how to play a class version of the game. I can see the West teams raising hell over us not coming as often because we do get the fans in the door, but can you imagine the travel savings??? -
As we used to say when I was a kid, "Takes one to know one." OR as the more diplomatic version goes, "Only a true professional can spot another one."
