I heard he sent them a message saying there was no way it was happening. I'm tellin' ya, fella, your body is sending you a message loud and clear - give up and find a new line of work.

And the hits just keep on coming...

I don't think this is the end of it, but I do believe the parameters need some overhauling.

With all due respect, I do not like having these two egomaniacs forced on me with the League saying I should care about them and watch them play a game. I don't give a rat's ass about either team, nor the players. I can think of a hell of a lot better things to do that day, rather than watch two teams who don't interest me in the least. You're entitled to your opinion, but I can't see wasting my time on a game that means absolutely nothing to me. And couldn't if it tried.

I'd love to be wrong about this, but I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that I'm not.

They're talking about rain and 40 degrees around here New Year's Day. I hate to be mean, but I'd laugh my ass off if it poured rain in Pittsburgh that day. It would be poetic justice.

Consider the people who will be voting on it. Anything that would make them give it to someone else, they will do it. As much as I think he'll come back with a vengeance, I have my doubts that they will consider him at all. The voters are like that.
-
But you don't think that missing 16 games will cut him right out of the running?
-
I'm glad you brought that up. I got into a bit of a debate on that with my housemate. I say he's lost any chance he might have had, she says not so fast. I'm curious what you guys think of that idea.

I love what I saw in the paper this morning. Mike Babcock said he talked to Pasha and the first thing Pasha said was "I'm sorry." He thought he had to apologize for getting hurt? Nothing to apologize for, honey...s*** happens. Just get well. Babcock said Pasha will probably take a week's vacation in Florida and come back rested and raring to go. It will be funny to see him with a tan.

I hate to say it, but I have a rotten feeling that Pasha just had his chances for any post season awards just go down the tubes with this broken hand. My housemate says no, but I think otherwise. Missing a month will just put him in the also-rans, unfortunately. I'd love to be convinced otherwise.

I like Bert for recognizing Pasha as having "the sickest hands" he's ever seen. And you're gonna be missing them for a while boys..."you don't know what you got til it's gone." Ain't that the truth.
-
I just hope to God he's a fast healer. I miss you already, Pasha.
-
Well, if there is any consolation to this, at least he won't have to spend All-Star weekend in hockey hell (aka Raleigh).

This is depressing...it so sucks on so many levels. There goes Christmas right down the tubes.

Thank you guys, for finishing this one for your wounded comrade. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he'll not miss the game in St. Louis. If he does, though, it would be three days' rest and might not be a bad thing.
-
Thanks Nick! Now finish this one off for Pasha! And DON'T BLOW IT!

I'm an agnostic mutt, but if there is a God out there, I pray to Him that Pasha will be back tomorrow night. Meantime, am I allowed to cry? Just kidding. THANK YOU HENRIK!!!!!!!!

Sorry you feel that way, but I honestly believe that Pasha is just as worthy to the Wings as that other creature is to his. And for what it's worth, this showed up in my email this morning... http://www.thehockeynews.com/atricles/37203-THN.com-BlogPavel-Datsyuk-the-NHLs-best-Russian.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=thn_daily_20101222

1) I have probably been a hockey fan longer than you have been alive. In fact, I'd bet on it. 2) I am sick and tired of having Cindy Crysbaby shoved down my throat. I hate Pittsburgh with a passion. 3) I'm also tired of having Ovechkin shoved down my throat constantly. I don't care about Washington. 4) It isn't fair for a team to get the chance to play twice before other teams get their first chance. I don't care who it is. Everyone deserves a fair shot to play in a Winter Classic. I feel this way about the Wings as well. 5) You are entitled to your own opinion, but telling someone they are not a true hockey fan because they are not interested in all the hype, silliness and general insanity of two overblown teams playing each other for the umpteenth time is rather mean.
-
I think what bothers us the most is the fact that a team is playing for the second time before most get a first chance. For me, I'm also boycotting it because I'm sick of having it shoved down my throat that these two are the only teams that matter and their so-called "Stars". Remember, "Star" spelled backwards is "RATS".

Glad I'm not the only one who loved that movie. It is so good. I HATE that song they play in Chicago. I heard it the other night in a movie and thought Terry had turned on a Blackhawks game. I so hate that song.

Bless your Uncle Henry's heart for living a good long life. We should all be so lucky. Okay, I don't recommend movies all that often, but if you have not seen "Pirate Radio", do so quickly. You'll love it. Excellent soundtrack, hilarious movie. Rent it and watch the deleted scenes. We laughed til we cried at the one called "Radio Sunshine". The movie is excellent.

I totally agree on this. As much as I love the thought, there are other venues and other teams who deserve a first time shot at it before we get a second. I still like the idea of Minnesota and Dallas in MInnesota, or Colorado and whomever in Denver. You could do the New York/New Jersey bit, or get over the idea of Canadian teams and do Toronto and someone, but give the other teams a fair chance before you put us in a second one. When and if we do another one, though, make it part of a full day/weekend of games at the Big House. I'd be all over that like fleas on a dog.

There is a huge difference between Pasha and that other little douchebag. You'll not see Pasha being a media hog, and he puts team first. During the interview after the game the other night, he said, "We won the game, that's more important." You sure as hell won't hear that other media hog say something like that. While every sports writer in humanity is kissing up to Crosby's little ass, Pasha goes out and quietly does his job, night after night. And we who really know the way it is appreciate him for it.
