This is one of the reasons I like this guy so much. He's a lot more than what we see of him. I'd like to get him out on the water in our boat next summer and just spend the day in the sun, catching fish and shooting the breeze. It would be a lot of fun.

Too bad Petr wasn't playing last night in GR...we could have used him and might have won the game had he been there. Oh well...
-
He can be so funny one minute, then so philosophical and insightful the next. It's an interesting dichotomy. I think it's part of why he's so interesting and intriguing.

Looking at the angle they showed, Jersey might have a legitimate beef on the trapezoid call. But on the other hand, the way our luck has been running lately, I daresay the only place he'll get any sympathy is from the dictionary.
-
I like it....the reporters asked him if he was having any headaches, and he said, "maybe from media". Ouch. At least the sense of humor has stayed intact. I'm just glad he'll be back for the 19th. I'll be at that game.

Michael, Michael, Michael...do you not know the unwritten commandment of hockey players? Thou shalt not bite the hand that feeds you.
-
He'll come back when he's ready. But I have a feeling he's just about ready. Something tells me he's getting restless.
-
Well, as we all know, hindsight is 20/20. But I think he's got a wee bit of regret, and well he should. I hope he is back the 19th. I've got tickets to that game.

As the saying goes, dry that out you could fertilize a golf course.

As the late, great Warren Zevon said, "enjoy every sandwich".

I honestly think it's rather sweet, and a nice way to pay tribute to his friend.

You can look at her, but the minute she opens her mouth, oh God... My dog leaves the room when we're home. At least there I can hit the mute button. Just be warned. Make sure you have antacids on you. They may be necessary.

I almost forgot to tell you...there is no pair of ear plugs in the world that can drown out Karen Newman's caterwauling. Be warned. I'm honestly surprised the ASPCA hasn't got her for animal cruelty when she "sings". As my housemate says, she must have incriminating photos of someone. Okay, I performed my public service for today.

Driving brings its usual problems of idiots who don't know how to drive in the first place. But I would definitely have my own set of wheels. It makes it a lot easier to get around. I've never had a problem downtown after dark. I guess it just depends on what's going on and the weather.

My experience there was great. I had a sandwich they call the Triple Threat. It was excellent. A little on the expensive side (the sandwich was $8.50), but it was definitely worth the price. Smoked applewood bacon, brisket and ham. It was very good. I would recommend eating before you go to the game, because food at the Joe is expensive, and there isn't much open after the game. The Casino is nice, I suppose but I can't handle the smoking and the noise. I try very hard to avoid it. If you are driving on your own, I would definitely recommend a little sidetrip up north a wee bit to Hockeytown Authentics. Good stuff! Take I-75 North to E. Big Beaver Road (no jokes, please), and take that a mile or so. It's on the north side of the road, next to the Troy Arena complex. And whatever you do, have fun.

This is like the tiger or the scorpion. Either one can be fatal.

Three things.. 1) That I have a husband who lets me indulge in my love for the boys and lets me go to Traverse City every year for camp. Were it not for him, I would not have met some of you, or met a lot of the guys. One in particular... 2) That if Patrick Eaves can't play here, at least I get to see him play in GR, where he is fitting in quite well, and even scored the game winning goal the other night. And after the game, we get to hang out at the same eatery they do and I get to talk to him. He's really nice! 3) More than anything else, I'm thankful for one person. Pasha.
-
Just remember, the one person who would have stood up for him got demoted to GR because they absolutely had to have Cleary here. And now look at what it has cost us. Just get well quick, sweetie...that's all we can ask.
-
I think the goalies are on to their tricks. Maybe it's just a matter of going out and just hauling off a wailing a blast at them. Can't hurt to try. Save all the fancy stuff, and just unload cannons at them. Or else maybe some new faces?
-
The goalies have gotten wise to him. It's time to change things up. A new shot from the bag of tricks...a new shooting order. Whatever it takes, they need to throw a monkey wrench in the proceedings. Give them something they weren't looking for.
-
If you bench Hank and Pasha, and you depend on people like Cleary, you're going to have a record worse than Edmonton's. Have a little pride, for Pete' sake.
-
I'm totally bummed. I love the guy's courage and his willingness to work. I hope he clears and can go to GR. That would mean I'd get to see him next week. So why the hell can't we kick Cleary's sorry ass to the curb? He should have NEVER changed his mind, and gone to Philly instead. He wouldn't be missed, believe me.

They always have...why would you think they wouldn't now?
-
The thought of him there in that venerable place of honor makes my skin crawl.

You know, this is the kind of thing that we appreciate about him being here...to watch him quietly rise up the charts of all-time scorers. He's in the top 10 on the Wings as well, not far behind the greats - Howe, Delvecchio, Lidstrom, Yzerman, etc. He goes about it in his own quiet way, and we can only thank the powers that be that we have had the chance to watch it over the years. Wherever he winds up on the charts, it won't matter...numbers don't capture the joy of watching him.
