Traverse City Prospects Tournament and Wings Training Camp Coverage
Kira replied to drumnj's topic in General
good - enjoy the pics! More tomorrow! By the way, I tried to put that link in that way and I was told I was not allowed to use that. Don't ask me why. I'm glad you got it to work. -

Very good day here too. Nick, Jim Howard, Ozzie, Patrick Eaves and Justin Abdelkader all fell in love with my dog Loki. Howie was even feeding him biscuits! Pasha said hello to me (made my day!), I got to give Aaron Downey a big hug (actually two of them), and I finally got a picture with Jiri Fischer. http://s19photobcket.com/albums/b180/Red_Wing_Datsyuk Look under Red Wings camp 2010 More photos tomorrow. -
That was then, this is now. They are both grown up enough to move on and work together. We should do likewise.

Hey, even if he plays on the Griffins all season, that would not break my heart in the least.

Damn, I'm gonna miss that man. One of the nicest people I ever met. Good luck and good journeys, Andreas. Some of us will still have a soft spot for you.

I do have pics from last year out on Photobucket, and also some game pics on Facebook. You're welcome to peruse them if you wish. -

I don't have a smart phone, and even if I did, I am not technically savvy, so it would be a disaster. However, I will have my trusty digital camera, and so will my other half. We'll be taking lots of pics, and I will be posting them on Facebook, so when I do, I will give you the link and you may peruse to your heart's delight. That's the best I can give you. -
That may be, but that kinda ridicules the other person out for putting down Ranford if he happens to be one of his favorites. As I could not criticize someone for putting Fedorov on their list, though I never was that big a fan of the guy. It's just one of those things.
-
Gee, my other half was thinking about going up for a couple days of the prospects. Maybe now we have a better reason.
-
How soon we forget the criteria..."Not necessarily the best, but your favorites". As to mine, I have to think about it, but I do know one line would be Brett Hull, Pavel Datsyuk and Boyd Devereaux...the original "Two Kids and a Goat Line".

Game 7 was one of the funniest games I've ever watched. Loved every minute of it.
-
I've heard that he will enter the Hall with a Red Wings jersey in the picture. That's cool by me. I will never forget the "no sax before a game" interview. God, we rolled on the floor laughing then and we still do now. It's classic Shanny.

I wish you good journeys, Slava...

I wonder if this means he'll be at camp in Traverse??? Hope so! Now that he's hung up the skates, I would say if he isn't HOF first ballot shoe-in, something is seriously wrong.
-
I'll be there Friday til probably Wednesday morning. I'm really looking forward to it, but it seems weird that the Red and White game will be Tuesday at noon...I wonder how many are not going to be there just for that reason? If anyone wants to look me up, I won't be hard to find, just look for my dog Loki. He'll be the one with the Red Wings bandanna, signed by Henrik. I'll either be on the other end of the leash or not far away.

I'm liking Patrick more and more. He and I share the same birthday (I have a few years on him, though), and we also share a love of dogs. Good guy!
-
I don't know, my Springer/Labs are pretty damned cool. And Loki looks like a miniature of Reuben.
-
Our thoughts and prayers to your dad...hope he gets better.
-
Reuben is an absolute doll! I wish I could afford a donation. I too believe in shelter rescues - my dog Loki is a rescue. When I see Patrick at camp (hopefully), maybe I'll sneak him a little donation in Loki's name.

Let's hope that Tomas Tatar wears #21 better than its previous owner.

This isn't easy. I can't pin it down to one. Every year at training camp brings me new memories. One of the best was meeting Pasha for the first time. What an absolute sweetheart he is. The whole team is, really - from the coaches on down. I cherish that one weekend a year, and I'm looking forward to this year (Three more weeks - Woo Hoo!). I loved being at the Joe last year when Pasha scored that wonderful goal against Nashville...right in front of where we were sitting. Even my non-hockey loving husband was floored. Watching Stevie raise the Cup in '97. Vladdie on the ice in '98. I cried, I'm not ashamed to admit it. I also have a wonderful memory of going to a Wings game and seeing Vladdie there. He smiled at me, one of the sweetest smiles I've ever been given. Meeting Gordie Howe at training camp in '06. What a gentleman! Watching San Jose get smoked 6-0 a couple years ago. Laughed myself silly. It was awesome. Watching the 7-0 blowout game in '02. I really laughed at that one. Watching game 3 against Vancouver in '02 when Nick scored from center ice. I can remember exactly where I was. When it happened, I looked at my husband and the other people watching the game and said, "That's the shot that changes everything. We're gonna take it all." Damned if I wasn't right.

Thursday night we were on the waters of Houghton Lake watching the Perseid meteor shower til 2:30AM. It was interesting.

As my in-laws would like to tell me, "Don't come back."

My only wish for a new arena would be better handicap accessibility.

I like Drew. He came in and did a bang-up job on the penalty kill, at a time when we needed someone who could do the job. That said, I'd like to keep him around. Mattias is an unknown quantity, that's a given, but if you have to give up one or the other, it's almost better to keep the known quantity rather than the unknown. I guess it's a case of better the devil you know...
