Datsyuk Named Top Forward of World Championships

Say what you want, but I think he was the best. I read somewhere that they thought Malkin was the best, but I beg to differ. It's Pasha hands down.

    The Worlds

I am very proud of Pasha...let's see...two Stanley Cups, an Olympic bronze medal and soon to be a gold medal in the Worlds. Not too shabby a resume.

    LOL at the Sharks

I really want Montreal to get their heads together and win. I want San Jose to be destroyed, and Philly to get their egotistical asses handed to them. I'm not really fond of the idea of Chicago winning, either. I hold out hope that Montreal can get it back together and win it.

WC in Pitt. pretty much a done deal for 2011

Thank you for giving me an excuse to find something else to do that day. This is so unfair. Since when does Pittsburgh deserve to have a second Winter Classic appearance, when there are so many others that haven't even had one? How about Minnesota and Dallas in Minnesota? I think that would be a good one...besides a history that is between them, it would give fans a chance to see teams that they ordinarily don't see. Or Colorado and someone in Denver? Even the Rangers and Islanders in New York, or the Devils and someone in Jersey. This ain't right, and I'll be damned if I'll waste my time watching Buttman's wet dream.

    The Worlds

If I were a betting person, I'd put my money on Russia to take it all. They're perfect right now, and have a rematch with the Germans. I hope Pasha gets another hattie. It's Russia for the win!

    The Worlds

I heard Jonathan Ericsson is, but that's the only one I know of besides Pasha. Kronner and Flip both turned it down to nurse their wounds. Can't say I blame them.
  7. Apparently whatever was holding him up was resolved, because according to TSN, he centered a line with Alexander Frolov and Ilya Kovalchuk in the game today, and helped set up the first goal of the game for Russia. So something must be going right.
  8. He just had the place to say it - "Suckers". I have to be honest, I laughed my ass off, and even thought about having a cold one to celebrate. Gotta love it.

I'm rooting for Pasha. GO RUSSIA!!!!

Kovalchuk will not be a Red Wing

If you believed that something like this would come to pass, I have 20 acres of swamp in downtown Detroit to sell you - cheap.

    Vote for Datsyuk!

I voted a few minutes ago, and Pasha was winning. It's like I told them, just because it was in a shootout, doesn't mean it was a no-brainer. You have to be able to adjust your thinking on the fly, like a musician has to be able to improvise. NO offense to Stamkos, but I'll take Pasha six days a week and three times on Sunday. Besides, I got such a good laugh out of his faking out Niemi....

    End of an Era....

I am sorry to see Cheli hang them up, but we all know that we cannot go on forever. Everyone always said he was a grouch, but the couple times I talked to him he was nothing but kind and funny. I will miss him. Wherever your journeys take you, Chris, I wish you well.

    Last Year's Off Season

I was the happiest with Eaves and Miller. Those two were absolute godsends. I hope we can find a way to keep them both. Bargain basement gems, if you ask me.
  15. If you go, will you try to get some pics of Pasha for me? I'd be ever so grateful. I am not surprised he is doing this. Now I have a reason to keep an eye on the results. Go Russia!

What Was Your Favorite Game This Season?

I made it to seven games this year...Dallas, Vancouver, Colorado, Carolina, Nashville, St. Louis and Edmonton. Loved the New Year's Eve game (first time I'd ever been to one of them), but I think I'd have to say the Nashville game on March 5th was my favorite. That was the night Pasha swiped the puck and scored right in front of where my hubby and I were sitting. The place went nuts! My hubby looked at me and said, "If I didn't see that I wouldn't have believed it." I wanted to jump on that ice and hug him for that. Also loved the shootout goal he scored against Chicago where he absolutely faked the goalie right out of his skates. I laughed like hell when he did that. I can't wait til September! I have my tickets already.

We got more out of you thread.....

Without Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller, we would have never even sniffed at the playoffs. They were invaluable, and I wish we could keep them both. I'd give up Jason Williams to keep them both. No offense, Jason, but I like Pat and Drew better.

Thanks for the Great Season, Detroit!

First of all, I'm very proud of the guys. Everyone had us left for dead, and they managed to rise above it and thumb their noses at the critics. Good on them. Considering all the injuries we had to go through, the season starting in Sweden (thank GOD we don't have to do that again!), and all the adversity, I'd say we did a good job making lemonade out of the lemons we had. Second, I have to say thank you to the guys. I made it to seven games this season, and every one of them was a blast. I saw Vancouver, Dallas, Nashville, Minnesota, St. Louis, Colorado and Edmonton. I got to go to my first New Year's Eve game, and had a hell of a good time. I have a 17-game streak of winning games I've seen live. That streak will continue, I know. I don't know how many games I'll get to next season, but I plan on having a hell of a good time no matter how many I see. So thanks, boys, for the seven nights that I came home without a voice due to screaming my lungs out. Personal thanks to Jim Howard for stepping up and playing like we all hoped he would. He's got a bright future. Thanks to Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves for being lifesavers. They were absolutely invaluable, and I wish there was a way we could keep them both. Thanks to Andreas Lilja for never giving up and coming back. You were missed when you were gone, and I thank you for having the perseverence and courage to come back. And thank you to Pasha. He gave me one of the greatest moments of my life. I was at the Nashville game when he stole the puck in behind the goal and came around and scored - right down from where I was sitting. That moment was one of the most memorable moments of the whole season for me, because it gave me a chance to really see his talent up close. Everyone in our section of the building went crazy, and I would have jumped on that ice and hugged him had I had the chance. It was a moment I'll always remember. I'll be cheering for Boston, and I hope whoever gets San Jose next round will beat the living s*** out of them. Have a great summer, boys, and I will see you in September in Traverse City. I got my tickets in a safe place. I love you guys very dearly.

    .BELIEVE / Have faith, etc.

My faith has not wavered one iota. I believe in this crew. Things will happen.
  20. Nice to hear Shanny say he'd go in as a Wing. As to whether he gets his number hung in the rafters, I'd have to say no. Nick is a shoe-in, and I'd love to see Pasha when he hangs them up, but it's very subjective. As far as Fedorov, never.

    History will be made: Datsyuk/Zetterberg

Awesome. How did Pasha and Henrik last into the sixth and seventh rounds? Everyone thought they were too small to make a difference. In Pasha's case the only scout who saw him was Hakan Andersson. He'd gone to see Dmitri Kalinin and became entranced with Pasha. With Henrik, it was the same thing. No one thought they would ever make it. Nice to fool your detractors.

I fear you may be more right than you think.
  23. Kira

    Moscow Dynamo Folds

Gee, does this mean that my two Moscow Dynamo jerseys that Pasha signed might be collector's items now? Not that I'd ever part with them... This is kinda sad, but it may be the beginning of a domino effect.
  24. Oh geez, I have a list... Crosby, Pronger, Cooke, Hartnell, Joe Thornton, Heatley, Burrows, Ovechkin (no reason except to take his ego down a couple pegs), Avery, Ott (general principles), and Wayne Gretzky - that one I've always wanted to do.
  25. Hi kid...couldn't keep me away forever, you know. Keep smiling!
