Gretzky, Hull, and Modano interested in purchasing Stars
Kira replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I wouldn't let any of the three anywhere near the bench. Just the thought makes me shudder with revulsion. Let's face it, they couldn't coach a colony of ants to a melted Hershey bar. -

Watch that franchise go belly up. -
I hope we can keep Patrick. He's been great on the penalty kill, he has a lot of energy out on the ice, and I've kinda got a personal bias for keeping him - he and I have the same birthday, although I have a few years on him. As for Pasha...they stopped making words that can describe him.

For those among us who have loved and admired Pasha since he first got here, we might take him for granted sometimes. I mean, if he has a bad streak, everyone is on his ass to "shoot more" or cure whatever else is bugging him. We're quick to criticize, but when everything starts going right, we all say, "I knew he could do it." Me, I don't take him for granted. I appreciate what he does no matter what. This is a guy who can make something out of nothing, and make it look so damned easy. I don't know how he does it...all I know is that he can pull rabbits out of his hat and make people drop their jaws and shake their heads. I've a feeling that it's gonna be a while before we see the likes of him again, and when he does hang them up, we will really appreciate what a treasure we have.

It's not whether he can afford to pay them, it's if we can keep all the players we want to keep.
-
This man is an artist. And he just makes it look so damned easy.
-
You're cruel. Just kidding. Have lots of fun and take lots of pics to share with those of us who were'nt as lucky. Please???
-
How can you not love this guy???

This makes Saturday so damned important. We better win and win big. I wish I could go to that game but I hear it's sold out.
-
This is way too hard for me, but there is no doubt that it would have to include Stevie Y, Shanny, Nick, Pasha, Homer...I just can't pick 10.

Happy birthday to one of the classiest, most gentlemanly persons I've ever met in my life. I have wonderful memories of him in Traverse City trying to feed my dog Galen (rest his soul) a banana! What a sweet man.

I am jealous. I have always wanted to go to a morning skate, and never been able to do so. You're a lucky dog.

*Shuddering* Gads, what a revolting picture that conjures up.

Tonight is career game number 600 for Pasha. He's 5 goals away from 200 for his career...11 assists from 400...16 points from 600 career points. He is currently number 9 on the All Time Red Wings scoring list...49 points behind Brendan Shanahan at #8. Congrats, Pasha! I'll be at the game tonight.

I have a better one for number two: Karen Newman gets laryngitis. Those of us who plug our ears and hit mute buttons on the tv breathe a sigh of relief.
-
I doubt it will ever happen. Anyone remember when Joe Kocur was an assistant coach and threw a chair on the ice in a game against St. Louis??? That was hilarious.
-
It has now made it to "Oddball" on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". What a dumb thing to do.

See above for the win. 1. Chicago gets their butts handed to them, proving the Hossa curse works. 2. San Jose chokes again. 3. Phoenix goes beyond the first round - but no farther. 4. Detroit sweeps every opponent. 5. Pittsburgh gets their butts handed to them, and Crosby gets plastered by Milan Lucic. 6. Marc Savard doesn't play, but finds Matt Cooke in a hallway and proceeds to beat the living s*** out of him. 7. Pasha plays like a house afire and wins the Conn Smythe.

Out of Freudian slips can come honesty. Subconscious honesty, perhaps, but honesty nonetheless.
-
My thoughts exactly. I, for one, am so damned sick and tired of having Crosby shoved down my throat, it's not funny. Enough already. He makes me nauseous. That is why I'd much rather see Dallas and Minnesota, or Colorado and San Jose (actually, Colorado and Vancouver would be great if we could convince Bettman to let a Canadian team play), or even the Rangers and the Islanders over the Penguins again. Give us a break, for cryin' out loud.
-
Just think...there is an outside chance (remote, but existent) that we could run the table. Conceivable? Sure. Possible? Outside chance. Wouldn't that be a wonderful scenario, though? In the immortal words of Captain Picard, "Make it so."
-
I like that idea. Minnesota and Dallas in Minnesota is a damned good idea. I'd watch that one. But Pittsburgh? Hell, no. I'd watch reruns of "It's Me or the Dog" first.
-
I don't like the idea. I think everyone should have at least one shot before someone gets two. Minnesota would have been a great place to have it. I realize Buttman thinks he has to kiss his golden boy's ass, but this just isn't right.

My housemate (who is a die hard Bruins fan) saw that deflection and said just four words: "That's just not fair." While smiling.
