  1. You nailed it! Didn't I tell you there was a resemblance? Well done! Bravo!
  2. I like this! Also the one with the Blue Jackets logo and the golf club, as well as the Fast and Furious one. You should have had Mike Babcock pull the rope with Hitchcock in the cannon. I have a suggestion for one of you creative souls. Do you remember when Hitch had the mustache? He always reminded me of Captain Kangaroo. Can someone resurrect one of those photos and do something along those lines?

Most of my peas come in Chinese food, but I don't mind them with smashed 'taters. TPBM has seen a flying squirrel ( I have them outside my door on the bird feeder tonight)

Red Wings Highlight Reel Goal of the Year

I'm torn between Franzen's beauty, Leino's 180 and Pasha's Winter Classic. Can I vote for all three?

    Pavel Thanks Don Cherry

Pasha has a way of finding the silver lining in any cloud. I still hate Cherry, though. How dare he call Pasha a "dirty" player and our team "Boring". If anyone was as boring as whale s***, it's Don Cherry. And he dresses like he stole the cover off someone's 1960's vintage furniture.

Pavel Datsyuk builds case for MVP

If Pasha played for any other team than Detroit, the media would be all over him like fleas on a dog. You know it, I know it. But because he plays for Detroit, a team with a wealth of talent, he gets nothing. He's not flashy, or cocky - he just goes about his business and scores goals, and sets up his mates to do the same. His takeaway/giveaway ratio is tons better than Ovechkin and Malkin's, a better plus-minus, better faceoff percentage. But he'll get dissed because of where he plays. I thought it was interesting...in a poll of players done by SI, they asked "Who would you want to take the last shot in a shootout?" You couldn't vote for a teammate. 21%, the majority vote, said Pasha. And Mike Babcock has no qualms about putting him out in any situation. I do think, though, Pasha is going to have the last laugh. He's got the better chance to carry the Cup than the other two do, and I think that's the goal he's aiming for, rather than the individual awards. He's more team first than the other two. And anyway, we who know what he's capable of, appreciate him.

    Awesome Datsyuk Article

Well, we can't always call 'em right, but you are not alone when you say that about Pasha. I've known for years that he was the best, and he's only getting better. It's just taken everyone else this long to realize what we've known all along. And I happened to read in an article on NHL.com this morning that the writer of this article sees the Hart Trophy nominees as being all Russian - Ovechkin, Malkin - and Pasha. He also sees Pasha being only the fourth player in NHL history to repeat as Selkie Trophy winner. Nice stuff to read!

What job??? My job never ends. I don't get a day off. Caring for a spouse is a 24/7 job. TPBM is looking outside and seeing the sun.

Three stories with Pasha. First time I was at camp and he was there, I walked upstairs Saturday morning, and my friend Brit said, "Pat, get over here quick!" I turned around and she was with Pasha. So I went over and very shyly said good morning to him. Then my hubby came over and said, "I bet you don't get to see too many of those", meaning the Dynamo jersey I was wearing. "Would you like me to autograph that for you?" Pasha asked me if I wanted my jersey signed! "Please?" He was the epitomy of graciousness. My great niece Tiffany came up the next year. Tiff is like me, in that she loves to read, and she loves Pasha (her mom says I taught her well). He signed her shirt, a puck, a program, and let me take a picture of the two of them together. When she was done, she turned and looked at her mom and said, "That's it. I'm ready to go home." He also was nice enough to let me take a photo of him with my friend Julie. It was perfect. So for her, I went and made an 8x10 copy of it. She brought it with her the next day, and Pasha signed it for her. It's now framed on her wall at home in Indiana.

Great article. I fell over laughing at the comment about "I hope you're not from KGB". That made my day!

Datsyuk awarded 97th point after the game

Classy of Henrik to do that, and will Pasha hit that 100- point mark???? Oh, hell yes! Will it get him consideration for the Hart? Unfortunately not. But we love him anyway.

My experiences have been really cool. I met Gordie Howe at camp, and he tried to feed my dog Galen a banana! Galen wouldn't take it (as a service dog, he was taught not to take things from strangers), and Gordie said, "He'd probably rather eat a calf." Mark Howe loves my dog Loki. They met at camp last fall. Loki has also met Henrik Zetterberg. We were sitting by the bench, and Henrik came around the glass and signed a jersey for my friend Sandy. Then he saw Loki, and said, "Hey, buddy", and petted him. When I asked if he'd like to sign Loki's Red Wings bandanna, Henrik said, "Sure", and signed it. I've met Andreas, Nick, Dan, Derek, Kirk, Brett, Cheli, D-Mac, Jiri, Kris, Henrik, Valtteri, Nik, Kopi, Johan, Homer and Pasha. Lots of Pasha stories. He's always been a gentleman, with a great sense of humor, kindness and generosity. Love him to death. I couldn't pick a favorite moment, but suffice to say there have been many beautiful moments for me. I've also met Robert Lang, Manny Legace, Jim Howard, Jamie Rivers, Aaron Downey (what a sweetie!), Mike Babcock, Dave Lewis, Budd Lynch and Ted Lindsay (whoever thinks he's "terrible" could not be more mistaken). Just missed a meeting with Jiri Fischer (rats!), and missed a chance to talk to Pat Verbeek (he was on his cell phone and I didn't want to interrupt his train of thought). Two of the best stories involved my friend Julie. She had a beautiful pic of her and Jiri Fischer and she always wanted it autographed. Last year one of the guys at camp asked for the picture, and came back with it a few minutes later, autographed by Jiri, with the words, "Sometimes life is better than we think it is." Julie and I both had tears in our eyes. The year before that, she was almost ready to talk to Scotty Bowman, but he got mobbed. So he looked at Julie and said, "Maybe tomorrow." She said it was cool, and waited patiently to see who else was coming out. A moment or so later, someone tapped Julie on the shoulder and said, "He wants to talk to you." "He who?" "Scotty". Julie (who is confined to a wheelchair) went around the corner to where her jeep was parked, and there was Scotty Bowman. They sat and talked for 15 minutes. It was the thrill of her lifetime.

    Pavs

Aw gee, no votes for...who was that guy...oh yeah, Igor Grigorenko. *Sarcasm in a big way* I'd love to see Pasha get to the 100 point mark...he's been flirting with it now for a couple years. I think this is the year he finally cracks it. Four games, five points, why not??? And almost a career point a game average. I know players who would kill for that.

4/5 GDT: Wild 2 at Red Wings 3

Hmmm...four games...four points to 100. Think Pasha will make it??? I say why not???? Now, even though I hate Anaheim with a passion I have to root for them to beat San Jose tonight. If that happens, we have an outside chance of being first. Go Ducks! (God, that hurt to type!)

Should Datsyuk be named the next Captain?

Though I'm sure Pasha would be honored beyond words to be named captain, I think he would be willing to defer to someone else and work with him, whomever it might be.

    MVP

I would give anything in this world to see Pasha win the MVP award. But it will never happen. He's not a media darling....he doesn't hog the spotlight...he's a humble, hard working player who puts team first, individual honors second. Unselfish, dedicated - everything a team would want to have in a player, but he'll never win because he's not the media darling that everyone wants to see. And that, to me, is a crying shame.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDIE!

My first encounter with Gordie was at training camp. My hubby had his service dog with him (at the time it was Galen). Gordie saw Galen and tried to feed him a piece of banana! Galen wouldn't take it (he was taught not to do that, being a service dog), and Gordie said, "He'd probably rather eat a calf." He is a sweet and wonderful gentleman. I wish him nothing but the best.

    First time at the Joe

I too am one for the People Mover. We have a parking garage across from the RenCen (east of the center) where it costs $6 to park, and there is a level right by the walkway to the building. We take the people mover from there to the Joe. For the 50 cents per person one way it's a good way to go. Parking at the Greektown is free, but we don't like the noise level at the casino - the Ren Cen is open to get to the parking garage and it's a lot quieter. Glad you told me about the place where the guys can come out and sign autographs. Next time we go I'm going to try and talk my other half into letting me go down there!
