I've had my copy for about a year, and it's beautiful. The essays are well written, and give you a little insight into the guys who wrote them. I found it at Barnes and Noble in Midland, and stopped right in the aisle and read Pasha's. I laughed, I smiled, and I was very touched by what he wrote. It's a great book. I'd like to take mine to camp and see if I can get some of the guys to sign it. The essays are very wonderful little snippets of history and insight. Great reading!

I'm rooting for Dino and Igor...it will be nice to have a couple more fellows with Red Wings ties in the Hall. Just think - Igor was Pasha's hero growing up, and Dino was the one who must have taught Homer everything he knows. Nice how the two tie into each other in a way.

Why not??? Go for it. I'd like to see the final results when you finish it.

You mentioned a very integral part of Pasha's game - the intangibles. You can make stats say anything you want...you know that old saying about "lies, damned lies and statistics". But it's those things that he does that don't show up on the scoresheet that make all the difference. Watch and see how many times he will distract players to him and open up a teammate, thereby giving him a chance for an open pass for the shot. How many times has he done that and not gotten an assist for it or a goal, but without him doing that, there would be no shot at all. Or how many times will the opposition be heading down the ice and all of a sudden the play is broken up enough with just the tip of his stick - it's not enough to be considered a steal or a takeaway, but it's just enough to disrupt the flow of play and give the Wings a chance to get the puck back and go on the offensive again. It's things like this that you never see on a score sheet at the end of a game that make Pasha such a dangerous player to go against. Stats are all very nice, if that's what you're into, but you absolutely have to take those intangibles into account as well. It's like an iceberg - what you don't see under the surface of the water is a lot of the time a hell of a lot more dangerous than what you do see above the surface.

Thank you. Nothing more. Just thank you.

Hokey smokes, Rocky...talk about a Who's Who! Whoever gets to go, we need pictures!

Maybe it means we're not as stupid as some people think we are. I'll not name names, but the guilty know who they are.
-
You and I both called it, kiddo. Nice to be right isn't it?

I was on the phone with puckloo at the time and she said, "They can spell that damned Phaneuf's name right, but they can't spell 'Lidstrom'???" *scratches head*

Underrated? Good question...lots of candidates. Under appreciated? That's easier. Dominik Hasek.

I always thought he'd be a great musician with those hands. I would say something else, but I best not. Can I get away with saying he looks damned good in a tux???

A party at the very least. A fundraiser perhaps. Of course, I would not mind having a drink out of it, and passing it all around to my friends to drink out of.

The thing is, he plays a smart game. He knows when to give a legal hit and when not to. He may give some damage, but you know as well as I do that he'll not endanger the team or the game by doing something stupid at the wrong time. Fear not, I think it's safe to say he will be just as smart and as sneaky as ever.

I think Melrose has the market cornered on that one.

Didn't mean to post the same thing twice. I must have been at the same party Pasha was at.

Dear boy, I am happily married...older than you and I've probably forgotten more things than a lot of people will ever know.

Who the hell are you, Don Cherry going under a nom de plume??? Give the guy credit - he worked his ass off for that award.

ROFLMAO...how typical of Pasha. Conjures up a chorus of "Wasn't That a Party"... Could have been the whiskey Might have been the gin Could've been the three or four sixpacks, I don't know But look at the mess I'm in My head is like a football I think I'm gonna die Tell me, me oh, me oh my Wasn't that a party?

I think his name is Lucas...Luc for short. I could be wrong. Do you know that Pasha did something tonight that hasn't been done in 70 years? It's been that long since someone won the Byng three years in a row. No matter how you slice it, that is quite an accomplishment. Congrats to all our guys...I think we did well. And to all of you who told me I was nuts for saying Pasha would win the Selke... maybe I'm not as dumb as you think I am.

Those two guys on the NHL Network are gonna get a good ribbing tomorrow. Hradek said it would be Henrik, LaGreca said Madden. You were BOTH wrong, suckers! Take that! How wonderful and sweet it was to see Gordie get a Lifetime Achievement honor. What a lovely and sweet man he is, and so deserving. All in all not a bad night! WOO HOO for Pasha!!!!!!!!!!!

I just caught a glimpse of Pasha walking in. He looks damned good in a tux!

At least this time, Pasha is going to show up! YAY!!!! I kinda wish he'd walk off with a daily double - the Selke and the Byng both. Now that would be cherries on the cheesecake! And anyway, Henrik got the Conn Smythe, so the Selke would be a nice consolation prize for his linemate. The Byng is based on the regular season play, so I'm sure it's Pasha's, but he definitely broke out of that so-called "gentlemanly play" mode.

I like Brian Rafalski's comment on the parade: "This is better than the parking lot parties we had in Jersey"

My heartfelt condolences to you, liloz. Your words made me think of something the late, great Groucho Marx said when his brother Harpo passed away. "He loved life and lived it joyously and deeply, and that's as good an epitaph as anyone can have." I believe those words are for your Grammie too. If you need to vent you can always PM me...I'm not far away.

Lidstrom and Osgood, do they get their numbers retired?
Kira replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
Nick - this is a no-brainer. If he doesn't get his number retired, something is seriously wrong. Ozzie - I don't know about retiring his number, but I can see him having a legit argument for the HOF.
