A little late in the game for this, but better late than never. Where was all this respect through the season? How soon some people forget that Dom is half of the tandem that got us to this point. And yes, I saw some bashing through the season, so don't play innocent, you who were guilty of it. Dom has been a class person through all this. You can tell it's eating his heart out to sit and watch instead of being in that goal every night. But if it means we get the Cup, he'll do whatever it takes. Like Cheli, Aaron and D-Mac, and some of the others, they will sacrifice their playing time for the good of the team. They might be sitting on the bench, but their names will be on that trophy as well. It's Dom's decision whether he comes back or not, and if he does, I'll welcome him back gladly. If he doesn't, then my only regret is that I never got the chance to talk to him at camp. I would have loved the chance. It would have been a pleasure.

Overrated: No one. Underrated: Lots. Underappreciated: Dominik Hasek. You don't appreciate the fact that he's a good part of the reason we got where we are. You treat him as though he escaped from a leper colony. Enough already.

As long as it's at home and you don't go out and get silly in the streets. May we PLEASE have a little more decorum than Montreal. Those fans were totally idiotic. May we have a little more sense.
-
Oh well, you can always watch lacrosse and Aussie Rules football.
-
How dare you call Dominik Hasek a "piss poor goalie". Have you forgotten that he's half of the reason we are where we are? Were it not for Dom pitching in during the season and pulling down exactly half of the season's victories we would not be on the verge of the Stanley Cup. You ought to have your mouth washed out with soap for that.

I will be crying like a child come Monday night if we finish them off. Crying tears of joy for Dom and Cheli, Aaron and D-Mac...I mean, how could you not feel something to see Darren especially, carrying the Cup. My God, I cannot believe what the atmosphere is going to be like at the Joe. I wish I could be there, but I will be in spirit. And yes, I will break down and have a drink when all is said and done. I have most of a bottle of good aged Irish whiskey on my shelf - it will definitely be time to break into it.

I just read in the Free Press the following: "At least one fan, though, must have been on the Wings' side, for someone with enough wile to escape notice had snuck in an octopus, and managed to hurl it onto the ice just as the anthem ended, just as is done at Joe Louis Arena." That made me laugh my ass off...if I ever find out who did that, I owe them a beer at the very least. God bless you, whomever you are! Glad to see I'm not the only one whose nerves are starting to get on edge. I'm telling friends to wear red Monday for support.

One more game...I'm shaking like a leaf. I have never felt this way before a final game. I'm usually pretty calm and collected, but right now I'm so nervous. It's a good nervousness. I can't wait til Monday night.

Okay, I need someone with more clever Photoshop skills than I have. How about a Winged Wheel with a Penguin squashed under it? Anyone come up with that image? That's your challenge.- 561 replies

At least they remembered that it took two of them to win it. The caption on the Getty Images pictures only mentioned Oz. No mention of Dom at all. That really steamed my clams. Get it right, you putzes.
-
I wouldn't worry too much about Henrik and Pasha...they'll respond the best they can.
-
Of course he will...he will have something else to prove then. If we win this year, he will be out to prove that he can lead the team to a repeat. You're right when you say he has an attitude of "Don't tell me I can't do it, 'cause I will just to show you I can." He is a very stubborn person. You cannot doubt his heart and spirit, you have only to look in his eyes to see a fire that has been lit. He's playing with passion and determination. He was told when he was younger that he was good but he was too small. So what did he do? Went and got stronger. There is not a weak spot in his game really. If there is, he'll work on it over the summer, and by the time we see him at camp, he'll have it perfected. It's the way he is.
-
I honestly believe that with every game, Pasha makes his argument for winning it more apparent.
-
In the immortal words of Ren, "YOU EEEEDIOT!!!" There was a play the other night that caught my eye and is just typical of Pasha. Four guys are mucking in the corner for the puck. Pasha comes skating up and just looks at what is going on, kinda like a vulture stalking his prey. Then he goes right in among the four of them, steals the puck and passes it out to a waiting teammate. That is something that doesn't show on the stat sheet at the end of the night, but it's typical of what he does every night. I honestly believe that when it comes down to voting for the Smythe, you absolutely have to consider all the things that he does that doesn't show up on the stats, and he just wins it hands down.
-
Everybody expects this of Henrik. They expect him to lead the way in points, goals, plus-minus, the whole shooting match. But it's been Pasha who has led the way, not necessarily on the scoreboard or the stat sheet, but in all those intangible ways that don't show up in the stats at the end of the night. If you don't think this guy wants that Cup, and I mean wants it, you don't know Pasha. He wants to prove once and for all that he's worth what he gets paid, and believe me, he's definitely worth all of it, and then some.
-
I think you're watching the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. For years, Pasha has been quietly staying in the background, watching everyone else get the attention. I think he's finally realizing that this is his time too. I'm proud of him for what he did last night. It's a sign of maturity. He may not be captain one day, but I think he's definitely leaving a permanent imprint on this team.

You have to understand, although Pasha is smart enough to do the job, and do it well, he's also smart enough to know he doesn't want the job.
-
The fact that he stood up for his teammate is pretty impressive, considering the "soft" comments he's been stuck with over the years. He's stepping up and proving he's no shrinking violet. I say Bravo!
