Okay, that's a reasonable argument. Gotta put in a vote for Anze Kopitar...man, that boy needs some serious help.

Only two???? I heard that the NHL is not going to go to HD full time until Brind'amour hangs up the skates. He's assumed the mantle of Captain of the all-ugly team.
-
I'm sorry but I think they look awful. I never thought orange and blue were good together. Orange and black, yes...orange and blue, no.

We'll be at Traverse City State Park from Thursday til Monday morning. I'll PM you with my cell phone number and you can call me and let me know when and where! I have one night that I'm going to dinner with a friend and his wife, but the other two nights are open!

He can have a different number if and when he comes up. Pasha isn't giving up his number.

To the person who said Pavel didn't show up in the '06 playoffs. Did we forget that he was injured and should not have played at all? Yet he came back, still nursing the charley horse that had to have blood drained off it, and still a little spaced out from pain meds. He shouldn't have tried playing at all, and I give him credit for trying.

I'd give him a one way ticket alright...to the lower circle of Hell.

Pasha's goal against Edmonton was an absolute beauty, but he's had so many that made me sit up and say, "How in the hell did he do that?" I hate to say it but my favorite moment was during the playoffs when Pasha scored with about a minute left in the game, and all the emotions he was keeping inside just came out and the joy on his face was amazing to see.

First of all, I'd like to get Danny back. If we don't, oh well. Out of the other two...that's the lesser of two evils. If I was forced at gunpoint to choose (and that's the ONLY way I'd do it), I would have to choose Selanne. Two reasons. One: As mentioned before, Forsberg has more baggage than FedEx at Christmas time when it comes to injuries. And two: Selanne and Val Filppula have a history together, and who knows but that the elder might not be a good influence on the younger. However, I am very content with the lineup as is. So why screw around with it?

I'm in almost the same boat as you are. I can name three Tigers, but only because it's on the tv every day right now. Pistons, maybe. Lions, no way in hell could I tell you three guys. Maybe one? But I can tell you every one of the Wings by heart. Even the fellas who came up and played just a few games last season from GR. I agree with you, hockey is the first and foremost sport in my world. Nothing else even comes close.

And you wonder why I get stage fright. I couldn't bear to play something wrong in front of people. At least if I play for only the dog, she won't criticize me for mistakes.

I remember when they were touting the Dallas Cowboys as "America's Team". And all I could say was, "They ain't mine." I think it's kinda silly. There isn't one team that everyone is going to like, I don't care what sport it is. You like who you like, and in my case there is only one team out of the bunch mentioned that I give a damn about, and that is my beloved Red Wings. I never liked the Yankees because I think they're a bunch of arrogant jerks. I don't watch football and I don't watch basketball, so there goes the other three. But my Wings??? That's another story. And yet I know we're not universally loved. I've gotten dirty looks wearing a Wings shirt in Jersey, but I've also gotten smiles in San Francisco. And I just had a friend come back from Ireland and he saw a Wings hat there, and a couple of Tigers jerseys.
-
Say what you want, but I can tell you this...my team is the Wings. No one else comes close. The Tigers are okay, but I don't follow them. The Pistons and the Lions are even lower on my radar. I'd rather watch lacrosse than either one of them. But the Wings??? They rule at my house.

Happy birthday to the one soul in all this world who proves to me every day that there are angels among us. Dmitriy, there is a birthday thread on the Water Cooler. Can you get Matt to put the two of them together, please? I can't do it.
-
Happy Birthday, Pasha! Did anyone else get hit with storms yesterday? We did - had a tree come down about 10 feet in front of us, along with pea-sized hail. Nasty to say the least.

I think I need some sleep.

Please tell me that this is someone's idea of a sick joke. JR, just go away...please. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Go...do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Just go. Quietly.

Holy schnikees, and you wonder why I want this???
-
The first one that popped in my head was Phoenix. Coyote0106, you're nice and I like you, but your coach couldn't lead a colony of ants to a melted Hershey bar. Dump him - dump him now, while you still have a chance. And call it sour grapes if you wish, but I'd laugh my ass off if Anaheim imploded.
-
For this I would gladly give up the NFL Channels, the NBA Channel, horse racing, Golf Channel, Tennis, Soccer, home shopping channels, religious programming - I don't even watch any of that s***. Can you catch my drift here? I WANT THIS CHANNEL!!!!
-
If it isn't broke don't screw around with it. In other words, leave Pasha and Henrik together as long as it works. They'll sort out who plays wing and who plays center. The chemistry between them is not something you mess with.
-
There has been a lot of them over the years. One that stands out in my mind was at Stevie Y's jersey retirement this past January when I saw Vladdie come out on his own with a little bit of help. That brought tears to my eyes. Another one that I will always remember is Pasha's goal against Marty Turco. I sat there with my jaw hitting the floor and constantly repeating the words "How in the hell did he do that?" A third was Nick Lidstrom's goal from center ice against Vancouver. That is one game that I can distinctly remember where I was when it happened.

It's so bad I've had to resort to my game archive to get my hockey fix. I miss the guys. Nice kitty cat pics. I wish I could put a pic of my dogs up here.
-
Eric Lindros???? You've got to be kidding. One more concussion and his brains will be more scrambled than a Denny's breakfast. You want to take that chance??? Not me. there's an old saying, "You gotta dance with those what brought you." I'm in favor of playing who we have.

All things being considered, I'm content with what we have right now, and I don't think we need to sign anyone else. I want to see the kids step up and assume more responsibilities...Jiri, Valtteri, Tomas Kopecky...these three need to prove they are ready to take on a more important role on the team. And if Igor Grigorenko works out, I'd like to see him perform well too. Last year's team was picked by everyone to finish no better than sixth. And look what happened. This year I figure they will think the same thing of us, and I'd like to make them eat crow again.
