Burrows should be the captain

Newfys are probably the best kind of dog

i certainly believe Dudley helped Chicago, but it wasn't so blatant like Kovalchuk's contract. He can easily justify why he made those trades
-
what makes things harder for NJ is the fact that the NHL has openly stated that Hossa's contract is still being investigated and the hawks can still be found guilty of circumvention and subject to fines and/or loss of draft picks. the contract NJ has to come up with has to be even less blatant than Hossa's

kovalchuk and investigation update if you read the last part, Daly says the NHL may not remove the contracts of the other guys like Hossa, but may fine or take away draft picks if they determine circumvention

Puck Daddy over at yahoo has been having a series this month called Mount Puckmore, featuring entries from writers representing each NHL team to select the 4 faces that define their franchise. The latest entry has George Malik and his 4 faces of the Red Wings. 4 faces of Detroit Red Wings Malik selected Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Stevie Y, and Lidstrom. When I initially saw this feature, i though Sawchuk would be in, ahead of Lindsay, but after reading Malik's piece i have to agree with him. A lot of great players, coach and owner left out, but only 4 could make it. the only criticism is Malik saying Lidstrom has 5 Norris trophies, and not 6

just a heads up, tonight at 8pm eastern, the NHL network will be showing game 6 of the 2008 finals. Tomorrow they will show game 7 of the 2009 finals, which i wont be watching for sure
-
yeah that stood out to me. i kinda forgot about those calls when it happened; i guess i was too happy the wings won, but watching the whole game again without the tension makes me view the game a differently.

are we trying to break the record for most players aged 35 and over?

NHL investigating Luongo and Savard's deals Luongo investigation Savard investigation

reading the ruling, these were the main issues 1) age of Kovalchuk 2) the dramatic decrease in salary after 11 years 3) mimimal salary in the last 6 years 4) the "no movement" clause being changed to "no trade" clause for the last 6 years, which gives the team an out to remove the cap hit

ruling decision itll be funny if he does bolt for Russia for the money. after saying he wants to be a devil for life

several sources are reporting the arbitrator has ruled in favor of the NHL in the Kovalchuk grievance case, including NHL's twitter Link to source NHL press release NHL statement

i don't think its the length that is problem. its HOW the contract is structured. if the contract was $102m to be split evenly over the 17 years, the league wouldn't have done anything

i think there will be a one hour special, where Modano will say "I will take my talents to the motor city"
-
big announcement, could be retirement no? lol i really really hope he signs here!!!
-
i agree. the teams that are looking for goalies don't have cap space (SJ, philly). i doubt Niemi gets more than the $2.75 million he got from arbitration. maybe montreal but they don't have a boatload of cash either

"No more further trades needed"

Blog: The Blackhawks still have serious financial difficulties
jeff48109 replied to a topic in General
if they have those financial issues will they still want to park Huet's ass in the AHL? pay $5 million to stash a goalie there?
