my first thought after looking at that list, how on earth did Toronto get so many 'performance bonuses' when they finished next to last?

he has to be a fool not to realize he was a prime trade candidate. -

he will probably be on the first PP unit, to take over the Buffy role in screening the goalie. -
i dont see it included in the post you made? edit: i see it

if the $4 million bonus hit is true they might have to move another TWO contracts. also, from reports I've read, Niemi wants his money
-
Thrashers just signed Chris Mason, 2 years, 3.7 million total
-
wonder how will this affect Niemi's contract.

there isnt much depth in the forwards who will be free agents. that means they are going to be overpaid. unlikely we'll get any of the top guys for a discount

wow we are not trading down???
-
so who do you all want now? i am predicting a trade down. lol

good luck with Joe, who is 'clutch' in the playoffs. easy to be clutch when almost half your goals in the playoffs are on 5 on 3s
-
of course. however, he is not eligible for arbitration.
-
people have such short memories. yea, he was schooled by Crosby last series, but Spezza has 46 points in 46 playoffs games in his career. How is that a poor playoff performer. Thornton has 65 points in 91 playoff games. Datsyuk has 76 points in 110 games. i agree with your other points though

No freakin way Hjalmarsson gets $2 million next year.

i am unaware of the prospects, but based on the common consensus that im reading is that Chicago is indeed getting a better prospect. so chalk another win for chicago, as you say. Fair enough. So Reasoner and Sopel are salary dumps each and cancel out. that means a 2nd round pick for Eager. Chicago did a lot better than i hoped/expected. Hawks fans are generally really pleased with what they got.
-
no they are definitely not better, but i wasn't expecting the hawks to be able to get a first rounder from any trade they have to do to trim salary its basically 1) 24th pick for Buff: chicago win. got seduced by Buff's playoff run 2) reasoner for Eager: chicago win. Eager is a free agent isnt he? 3) prospect swap: draw 4) 2nd rounder for sopel: sopel is a salary dump for chicago, AND they get a 2nd rounder. should have been chicago sending ATL a 2nd rounder to take Sopel. I am surprised Atlanta gave up this much. maybe chicago will suck next year, but they can restock. i guess i was hoping things will be even worse for them. they are going to have scrubs irregardless of what trades they do, i was hoping they get a bunch of third round picks
-
for those hoping that Chicago will be screwed with trades, i think they will be disappointed. all they need is 1 GM out of 29 to overvalue some of the players and offer them a good trade. if they can get a late first rounder here i wont be surprised if they can get another for Versteeg.

dont forget he used to have Heatley and Alfredsson on his line so that helped his point totals. they are a borderline contender in the east and a definite playoff team. if they traded him it'll be rebuild mode for them he won't fit into the Wings salary structure.
