[quote name='VM1138' timestamp='1330272634' post='2262974' Holland has said he is only looking for rentals, though. That's because this summer's UFA crop is going to be fantastic, the best opportunity he's had in years to rebuild this team with so many pending retirements in the next year or two. It won't take much to make the Wings a championship favorite this season. First I couldn't agree more with your statement about not taking much to make this a favorite but like always injuries can make or brake a teams chances to winning the cup. I only count 3 players that might call it quits in the next couple years that being Nick Homer and Bert if I missed some one fell free to correct me only one of those is a big deal and Kenny will have a hard time to replace that spot I also think you guys are right about some sort of buy out plan but I don't see any body giving us any thing for the Mule to long of a contract. They would make wings buy him out then try to pick him up with shorter contract.

Red Wings still looking for another defensemen?
blgillett replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Kenny said he is done with defense and goaltender so I would say that no more trades on D -
Just glad to have Bert back next year. He has been a huge part of our success this year he seems to have played better this year then he has for a long time. Welcome back big guy

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)
blgillett replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I just don't see this as a terrible move price maybe a bit steep but he will be a huge up grade over anybody on our 3rd pairing. -
Don't get me wrong I would love Nash but its just not going to happen. Kenny isn't trading a roster player so chances are very slim that we will land a big name guy like Nash. I think Kenny will have to have a trade fall in his lap in order to make another trade. Prices just seems to be to high this year to make a big move. I hope I'm wrong but that how I see things right now

Is Nicklas Lidstrom The Greatest Detroit Red Wing Of All Time?
blgillett replied to up2here's topic in General
It hard to judge between Gordie and Nick. I think I would say Gordie was the best of his era and Nick the best of modern day hockey followed closely by Stevie Y. Stevie with out a doubt was the best captian to play the game. -
That's my choice

Just another important game to win for the guys wearing the winged wheel. Congratulations Homer

At one time he was the guy that was just plain hard to hit. Guys would take a run at him and end up hurting them self (like Pronger did) I don't know if he still has some of that elusiveness left in him or its just plain respect.

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

No one is going to take Franzen from us to long of a contract no chance [ quote name=LeftWinger' timestamp='1327705384' post='2250319] not that I think these guys would be "on their way out" but here is a list of guys I think could be shopped around for the right deal: Hudler Cleary Emmerton Mursak Filppula (I would hate this) and Franzen....yes, Franzen but ONLY if it was to acquire that legit top line super sniper, if not, then I keep Franzen because his value to this team is nearly irreplaceable, but for the right deal... I agree with your take on Stuart, but in all honesty, if he is for sure not coming back then I would ride him through the playoffs, then come to a sign and trade deal with a west coast team that absolutely wants him and does not want to get into a bidding war for him come July 1st. I just think he is too valuable to this team to deal him before the playoffs... after that, you can pick a number of prospects that could go, but there are few I would hate to see go, Smith and Sheahan being two. I like what Nyquist brings and there are a few other small skilled forwards that excite me too! It would be a tough call, but to get Morrow here and maybe Moen as well, it's a call that would be worth taking....in my opinion. -

Yeah he looked pretty rough. But he was thinking sharp with the jersey deal -
The word is all they want is daft picks I would take him in a heart beat

Great clean hit.

Wasn't his fault he lost a lot of blood from the nose bleeds after standing on such a tall ladder between the benches just so he could see over the boards

With out a doubt Commodore played his best game as a Wing. He hasn't had much playing time so far and hasn't played very well when he has gotten a chance until last night and that is probably do to the fact that he hasn't had an opportunity to play much and get used to playing the Wings game. I would love to see him play more if he is going to play like he did last night and improve on that play. To be honest I'm tired of watching Erickson play like crap and would love to see some one to improve enough to take his spot or at least push him into playing better.

PS as long as it isn't a Crosby item

I think Dats play last night should erase all questions about his health

Get well soon Pat!!!
