Lidstrom should play until he is 140.

Through 17 games last year the wings scored 64 goals, through 17 games this year the wings scored 55. Last year 4 of those goals weren't needed for victory (weren't the game winning goals). 2008-2009 W: 12 L: 2 OT/SO 3 2009-2010 W: 9 L: 5 OT/SO: 3 I would say that for everyone that we lost due to FA and LTIR the wings are still doing pretty well. Barring the 9 point game that skews the GF through 17 games but last years wings also had two 6 goal games and a 5 point game in that time frame as well. Read into it what you want but I don't think it's too shabby.

I just read all 38 pages. It was like a novel. Drama, excitement, disappointment and in the end I felt involved.

Got Ya. Didn't think you were talking about marketing but marketing is what is needed. The dumb NHL can't just have commercials on the NHL network because chances are if you are watching the hockey network you are already a fan. Blah, NHL fails in marketing.

Osgood is pimp. Even when he lets in 5 or 6 goals. I remember a couple years ago when everyone wanted hasek out and put ozzy in. Now they want ozzy out to put some kid from gr in. Crazy kids. I will take 3 stanley cup rings and 10th all time games won in the NHL by a goalie over some kid from Grand Rapids any day. Plus Osgood still looks like he is 10.

Correct. I was replying to Konann5000000... I don't think that how the nfl directly deals with safety issues is why they outsell the NHL in pretty much every market in the world. In all fairness though the nfl players aren't skating 20 miles an hour into each other or boards for that matter and they don't punch each other to oblivion either. Also, injuries are just as prevalent in the NFL you just don't hear about them often unless they are a Tom Brady like player. This year the bills have lost 8 Defensemen for < 2 weeks due to injury and thats just one team. So.... they may not lead with their helmets but their bones break just as much as hockey players do. I am not trying to argue with anyone I am just stating that maybe the NHL isn't much worse in the injury department then the NFL. I know, they could emulate the NBA and blow the whistle every time someone touches the someone else. I do agree with getting rid of the trapezoid though it is one shape that doesn't really belong in hockey.

The NFL makes more money because it knows how to sell itself. It is a hooker and we are the johns. It does not make more money because it is a better sport, they just put out a better product. If the NHL had a halfway decent marketing campaign, (or a marketing campaign period - and marketing Hockey on the NHL network doesn't count) and tried to sell it's product beyond its marginal fan base it would make more money too. Do not emulate the NFL - that equals fail.

On my way home from work I had the football game on the radio and realized that hockey announcers are always biased. (The majority of which are biased against the wings. Then again maybe it only seems that way but I can't stand to listen to vs or nbc coverage.) Anyway the guy announcing the football game was equally excited on both sides of the ball and never really leaned to one side or another. It was refreshing to say the least. Anyone else have a problem with the announcers?

Chris Chambers from the sandiego chargers is on waivers too... maybe we kenny should pick him up too [/end sarcasm] If you pick up Christensen for $750k to replace fil/mule while they are gone then you are out that much more of cap room and he is useless when they come back... Just my opinion though... Flips is only gone 6-8 weeks he will be back in no time. But hell pick him up anyway, the money ain't gonna do no good if they sit on it.

Center Ice is worth every penny of the 169.70 they charged me. If I watch just the wings games it cost me only $2.69 cents a game which is cheap entertainment. If I watch all the games I watch it ends up being far less than that per game. That is how I had to justify me spending that much money for hockey but it was well worth it. I think that the nhl should sell the games for $1.00 each or even $2.69 each so that if someone doesn't have the money to pay for center ice they can at least spring for a high quality game here or there.

I agree... I too have the package and watch a lot of other games. Just not the same as the wings though.
