Agreed. This proves his role on his team should be on the fourth line with the other grinders. He has no business on the top line. He is being physical but cannot produce like a first line player.
-
I don't get how Leino could look so bad you wanted to throw up your popcorn yet Zetterberg's line is by far the best line we have.
-
Datsyuk is pretty much worthless at even strength right now because he has absolutely no linemates. Bertuzzi and Holmstrom have both been pretty awful lately and you can tell Datsyuk is trying but just cannot get any help at all.
-
Way to lose to ******* Florida, guys. That overtime goal should have been an easy save.
-
Still don't get why Bertuzzi gets to stay on the top line when he's been terrible the last few games and is holding Datsyuk back quite a bit. Anyway, I'll say we win 3-1 with a goal that gets waived off that gets knocked in my Holmstrom because the ref intended to blow the whistle for goaltender interference when Holmstrom didn't touch the goalie. (I think I got two phantom ref calls in one there).

Yahoo! did actually post this, which is better than nothing. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...?urn=nhl,203543

I think what might be more important than the blown call is the fact that only one of our four lines is looking like they can consistently score. Datsyuk has no one to play with on the top line. Bertuzzi looked like garbage tonight and once again blew too many chances given to him on a silver platter by Datsyuk.
-
Yeah, I don't expect to see anything come out of this. Garbage officiating and Bettman will look the other way. The rule will not change nor will Toronto be given enough power to overturn the refs claim that they intended to whistle the play dead before the puck crossed the goal line. (Which still obviously cannot be the case here).
-
Well they casually mention it in the game recap but they don't say it was wrong or anything.
-
Exactly, the puck went in off the shot. There was no delay for the puck crossing the goal line so there is no possible way in the ******* world that he intended to blow that whistle.
-
I've been saying this since the playoffs last season...intent should not matter at all. Why that is a rule is beyond me, I know it takes a second to blow the whistle but you are essentially giving the refs say over video proof that they were wrong and as the human mind works (or at least how I understand it to work) people do not like to admit they are wrong.

Just got back from the game. The officiating was horrible (which was already stated here quite a few times) but the Wings didn't play as well as they needed to in order to win either. Obviously a lot of this had to do with being on the PK half the game but a lot of players were making mistakes that shouldn't have been made. Ericsson, Rafalski, and Bertuzzi come to mind making mistakes more than a couple times. The Zetterberg line looked solid again and it was a pretty nice goal from Z tonight to continue his point streak but overall, the game was sorely disappointing. I wanted to add that we were in section 109 across from where the "non-goal" went in and we lost sight of it, but there was no ******* way the ref intended to blow the whistle BEFORE the puck went in because it went in as soon as May threw it at the goal. Then we got to watch them review it, go over the Detroit bench...tell them why it didn't count, watch the team get pissed off, send Draper over to the official to argue it some more and then it still stayed as no goal. Disheartening loss, but hopefully they come out with fire in their eyes next game.
-
Hopefully not I mean, he's a good goaltender but the only way he'll get to play is if we have to pull Howard tonight and hopefully that doesn't need to happen.
-
Larsson. He was called up when Ozzy first came down with the flu.
-
I'll be at the game tonight so I'm going to call a Wings win 3-1! Goals by Leino, Helm, and Zetterberg (Because I met Leino and Helm last Friday so it would make sense that they score )

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions

If you go on nhlnumbers, they have Hossa at $7.9. Weird. I wouldn't mind trading for Hossa next season if they need to release some cap pressure -

If it is true, $6mil a year is what I expected Toews and Kane to get (or ask for) but already being against the salary cap ceiling, they will no doubt have to move some people at the end of this season and the rest of their team is not going to make much money. Toews: $6mil Kane: $6mil Hossa: $7.9mil Sharp: $4.1mil Campbell: $7.1mil Seabrook: $3.5mil Huet: $5.6mil Byfuglien: $3.0mil Kopecky: $1.2mil Sopel: $2.0mil Versteeg: $3.0mil Brouwer: $1.0mil Barker: $3.125 13 Players @ $54.525mil. Salary Cap @ $56.8mil. That's what I'm seeing using nhlnumbers.com adding in Toews and Kane at $6mil next season. Without Keith, they are already right against the cap with only 13 players. They are definitely going to have to move someone significant. -
I say if a game ends in a tie, Pittsburgh gets another point. Oh wait, I'm not Bettman.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

What's the point of arguing with you when have such misguided views on our fanbase? You obviously came here to start a flame war for no apparent reason other than to try and rile up some people. Sorry that we are laughing at you instead of arguing with you. To say everyone knows our fanbase is the worst is just a joke. -

You sir, are an idiot. -
In all fairness, Filppula hasn't been on the team when we've been scoring because of his injury. Since other players are still playing and as a team we are getting better, everyone's +/- is adjusting but Filppula's sits idle.
-
Wrong. Having one producing line is not a benefit for us. We are deeper and more balanced with them separated. Our depth is what makes us a great team.

I would definitely go to Griffins games all the time if I could but Grand Rapids is about 3 hours from here.
