At the risk of reviving this thread, I just wanted to throw in that the Penguins finally took a long trip out west this month and lost 3/4 games getting shut out in their last two.

I think Cleary and Bertuzzi have more of an obligation to produce than Leino who is supposed to be a 3rd/4th line guy. I dont think anyone on this team is playing up to their capability aside from maybe Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg and even those three arent on the scoresheet much. Leino looked really good the first few games and as it went on, he got kind of invisible but there have been games where he has looked solid but didnt produce.

Hard work has gotten them nowhere? Alright. Good excuse.

I dont think hes sick. Hes probably just scratched and Babcock doesnt want to stir any discussions.

I dont see Cleary or Bertuzzi getting a lot of goals on Zetterbergs line so why is Leino expected to be any different? Our 1st PP unit is our best line right now. No one else is getting much done in the scoring department. It isnt just Leino that isnt scoring, so why is everyone jumping on him so fast? Both Cleary and Bertuzzi have played with Z and both have 2 goals. Leino has gotten 2 goals as well, so where is the difference here? I think Leino has had a lot of solid chances but he has gotten the short end of the stick so to speak. Its not him not trying, its him not being able to create the space he needs to knock a few in. I dont know what Cleary and Bertuzzi have to use as excuses.

In that February when half our defense was injured, we were way ahead in the standings. Not where we are now. Besides when that happened we lost like 10 out of 11 games and were still on top. We arent on top right now, so its a much more difficult situation.

I did pretty well this week.

Ericsson is making a lot of mistakes too, but he doesnt have a defense partner to learn from anymore. Put him with Lidstrom and Im sure Ericsson will be playing a lot better. Ericsson makes a lot of rookie mistakes, but Lebda makes the same mistakes is nowhere close to being a rookie and they cant cover each other when one does make a mistake. This forces the forwards to worry too much about playing defense instead of playing offense and that is why no one is producing right now aside from Holmstrom.

I knew this was going to happen. This team is having a hard enough time winning games when we had Filppula and Williams and now we dont have them and we arent going to do anything to replace them. We cant just say Oh We Have to Play Better Defensively...and be done with it. We need some help in the scoring department and some help in the Lebda-not-playing-anymore department.

I like this idea, mainly because it will give Franzen a little more time to get to 100% and not have to worry about making a big impact in the regular season and we can still get a decent replacement for the regular season to replace the scoring. I doubt this will happen though.

Lets get Adam Almqvist to play for us now. SHIP HIM OVER!

Goaltending is no longer an issue this season with all the injuries we have.

Malkins injury is huge and Gonchars is pretty big but I dont think they are in bad shape at all, team-wise.

Yeah, I would have made the same decision. I just really liked seeing Hossa on this team and it was more of a joke than anything Franzen being out until February/March is hurting our team a lot more than I thought it would.

True Ah, didnt realize that for some reason. He had to be out there for 4/5 goals.

I wish the magic 8 ball would have shown us that Franzen would be injured for 4 months so we could have gone after Hossa first. At least Hossa will be back in December

Lebda was only -2 tonight? I could have sworn he was out there for more than 2 goals.

The question is who is going to be able to replace these players who were supposed to be replacing other scorers we lost. I dont see any of them doing that. Thats just me, though. Obviously I know Ken Holland is not going to trade or sign anyone and we will see these guys up, its just going to be nerve racking to watch.

Especially with all the injuries. Its hard to get chemistry going when the lines are different game-to-game.

I was just looking on ESPN and Bertuzzi is still listed without a team so who knows the last time it was updated

Since we let him condition with the Griffins we should get Washington to terminate the contract and then we can pick him up

PLEASE do something and trade for someone or claim someone off waivers. Just PLEASE dont call up another Griffin and say we are going to be okay.

Do we have more than 4 defensemen? Every time I look up I see Lebda and Ericsson and every once in awhile I will see Lidstrom and Rafalski but I have barely seen Kronwall and Stuart.

If Babcock doesnt bench Lebda for next game, I am going to be extremely pissed. This guy needs to either be benched or off the team or retire or get shot in the leg or something. Just quit hindering our team by being the other teams ******* screen.

Oh jesus. Williams is out for awhile and we give up another goal. ******* awesome.
