With Babcock wanting to reduce Zetterberg and Datsyuks minutes, I see Filppula, Leino, and Williams playing a big role. I can see that line notching a lot of goals this season.

He didnt really impress me too much when I saw him on the ice this preseason. Hopefully the Wings just let him stay gone and dont give him another chance. We have other players who want to do the work and prove themselves and stay in our system.

Oh no, Im so sad now that some guy halfway across the world on the internet that I will never meet in my life doesnt care about what I say.

I put Ericsson in my sig because I think hes going to be extremely valuable to us this season defensively and I think he is a strong, physical player that we need in our backend. Hes smart about what hes doing (90% of the time) and doesnt take dumb penalties like a lot of physical players can do. When our PK is as bad as it was last season, penalties are the last thing we need. I do completely understand where the need for an enforcer comes from and I do appreciate having players that can back up our stars but Im not going to complain about it all the time when what were doing currently is winning us games and getting us to the finals. My posts were coming from the stance that Im sick of listening to/reading about people complaining that this team doesnt fight enough.

And I can understand that, but I dont think we are making a mockery of ourselves because we refuse to fight most of the time.

I grew up with the Wings, watched them all the time while I was growing up and went to a ton of games throughout my childhood but I really dont see why some people think an enforcer is something necessary. Fighting is not the most important aspect of hockey, although it is a bonus. However, I dont think its something that needs to be focused on and magnified moreso than skill on the ice. I can understand getting players who can somewhat back up other players who are getting harrassed. I would be more embarrassed losing year after year and getting into 100 fights than making trips to the Stanley Cup Finals year after year while almost never fighting.
