I think that right now, loyalty is costing us a lot but I do think players (who are in it for more than money) appreciate that we are loyal and are willing to take somewhat of a discount to make it work here. Players like Zetterberg and Franzen could have easily made a lot more than what they took to stay here. I do think players past their prime (Maltby, Holmstrom, Chelios) costed us a bit last season.

He doesnt seem bitter to me...if Dave Tallon is getting ousted as GM, then there has got to be more behind the scenes that we dont know about. Havlat seems like a good guy to me.

Hossa, although I will miss Conklin too. I really think Conklin was as solid a back up as we would get for the price we had him at and at times last year, he was better than Osgood. I dont really miss Chelios as a player but as a person because he is past his prime and it shows when he gets on the ice. He made way too many mistakes this past season.

I think his defensive shortcomings really showed up in the playoffs this season and after that hit Mike Brown laid on him, he was almost invisible. I dont think Hudler is the answer we need when we obviously need to strengthen our defense. Scoring more goals than every other team last season barely got us into the 2nd seed because we gave up more goals than most teams. We need players who can play defense so the forwards dont need to score 4 goals a game to win.
