Chicago might regret this after this season once contracts for Kane, Teows, and Sharp are due but they have a very solid chance at the cup next season. As much as any Wings fan would hate to admit it, the Blackhawks are very close to getting to the Cup.

I, personally, cannot see why so many people are taking this personally. He didnt leave the Wings by choice, he didnt want to take a front loaded 10 year offer for a total of $40mil over a 12 year offer for a total of $62mil. That doesnt make him a bad person, he knows what he is worth. He is worth every bit of what Chicago offered and is paying him and to offer him an average of $3.75-4mil is just insulting. It was not written in the stars that we were destined to have Hossa for more than a year, so be it. Let him move on and stop bitching about it.

This is great for Hossa. He said he wanted the Zetterberg/Franzen deal and it seems like it really worked out for him. This Blackhawks team is dangerous and adding a player like Hossa only adds to that. 12 years for him might be a little long but that is what he wanted. I wish him the best in Chicago.

I would really like to hear all these people justify how Zetterberg is #26. There are a few others like Ryan Getzlaf who should be much higher too. How is Joe Thronton in the top 10? That is absolutely asanine. He is good, no doubt, but #9 when you continually drive your team into the ground by choking as soon as you enter the playoffs year after year?

Not to kill the mood or anything, but it would be entirely possible that if we cant sign Hossa, he signs somewhere for a couple years, our cap hit goes down and he comes back here to finish his career. I could somehow see that happening if he really did like it that much here.

I think his attitude is justified. Hes a great player who belongs in the NHL either way and he knows that. He deserves to play with us next season and he shouldnt have to sit in the AHL all season. I dont think thats Prima Donna, I just think thats him asking for what he deserves.

I think that number is without Ericsson, Helm, and Leino hitting the salary. According the nhlnumbers, our cap hit is at $51.25 without any of the free agents and without Helm, Abdelkader, Ericsson, and Leino counting against the cap (since last season they were in GR). This season Helm, Ericsson, and Leino will be up with the Wings full time and their numbers will impact the Cap. At least, that is how I am reading it on there. lol

I dont know if someone has posted this or not but apparently if Hossa doesnt agree to the contract by tomorrow, his rights are traded to the Kings. They also mentioned that Minnesota wants a run at him.

I was at this game this year and have to say it was one of the most exciting games I have ever been to.

Honestly, I know $2mil is a lot of money but why not take that kind of pay cut to know that you will be on a cup contending team for the rest of your career? This team is not going downhill any time soon as far as I can see, so a $2mil discount doesnt really seem like too big of a deal when you have such a sure-thing with this team.

The problem isnt directly downtown. Its not around Comerica Park, thats where Detroit is actually kind of nice (besides the homeless people) but the surrounding areas are horrible and a lot of the inhabitants of those surrounding areas dont want to do anything to fix the city. I read that around 30% of people said they would still elect Kwame even after his whole scandal. They had something like an 11% turnout to the mayor primary before the election. They really just do not care. I am all for building a new arena but I would rather have it around The Palace of Auburn Hills rather than downtown. I am probably the only person who thinks that though lol

I dont think Howard is NHL material and nothing he has done in any of his NHL starts has done anything to change my mind. Since he would have to play in the NHL, I say we get rid of him.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a Filppula Jersey Shirt? Like the Lidstrom/Datsyuk/Zetterberg Shirts that have their name and number on it...and while I am asking, do they have Helm shirts? Thanks

I wouldnt call Leino, Helm, Abdelkader or whoever else they have to bring up scrubs necessarily. They would have been full time this season on any other team, probably.

Worst. Thread. Ever.

Osgood is not an amazing goalie by any stretch of the imagination but he is very good when he needs to be. He is the goaltender we need because he isnt a big cap hit but its not like he is the worst goalie in the league. He is probably one of the best come playoff time.

But he DID mesh with Franzen and Filppula. Just because he doesnt mesh with our two top forwards doesnt mean a thing. He does mesh with our second line. Which is funny because he is a top line forward on any team other than the Wings.

Well its not like you are paying for him.
