1. Vinny wanted at least 5yrs, we signed Alfredsson for 1. 2. It wasn't Holland or the Wings losing Brunner, it's obvious he wanted to see where he could end up on other teams and what they'd pay him. Instead of waiting on him, we made moves to make our team better while we have someone coming up perfectly capable of taking his roster spot for less money.

Sounds like we wanted Brunner, he (or his agent from the sounds of it) didn't want to sign before noon and we moved forward instead of waiting on him.

Shame, Brunner was a great guy and a solid hockey player. He'll do well wherever he goes but we can't lose Tatar.

Brunner could still sign here. Either way, Tatar is as good and could be better than Brunner.

I'm a lot happier this offseason than last offseason that's for sure and I was one of the only people that was "okay" with last offseason.

We are better than we were last year. Alfredsson and Weiss are better than Filppula and Cleary.

At least Yzerman got him. We'll see him in our division quite a bit and it'll be weird seeing him in blue but it was obvious he wanted out of Detroit. -
I don't see Abdelkader coming off the top line at the start of the season. If it's not working, he moves, but as it sits Datsyuk wants him on that line and he'll be there.

Good call, I looked at that 3 times and knew I was forgetting someone haha. He goes into the 2nd line, Tatar to the third, Bertuzzi to the fourth and that leaves Eaves out. Tatar, Helm, and Nyquist on a line sounds incredible.

Z - Dats - Abdelkader Franzen - Weiss - Tatar Nyquist - Helm - Bertuzzi Miller - Emmerton - Eaves Andersson Samuelsson Tootoo Andersson can still play in the AHL, so I think he's down there if Helm can play. If not, he's the third line center again.

I read that he's had offers but that's all I've heard. Makes me think he really just wanted to see what he's worth.

Look at the list of FAs next year, this one year deal is going to look great rather than spending more money for more term on someone who won't match what could be available next season. Not to mention we'll have some more of our young guys ready to move up. -
